Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso was among Republicans who criticized Biden's announcement.

Republicans fight against anything that benefits America or Americans.

Going green just took another backseat…again…

We just know trump had us sorted out when it came to energy independence

Too bad Trump was too weak to pass any sort of infrastructure bill or healthcare bill or even a wall building bill for that matter. Weak.

Well, it has yet to pass the Senate and so far Manchin and Sinema are just not happy with the cost of this and if it dies in the Senate, it dies. Thumbs crossed on Manchin and Sinema.

pathetic gesture from this total disaster of a "president"

Trump couldn't even get a bill past one house.

Was there ever a weaker American president who got less done for the American people than Trump?

Releasing oil from the strategic reserves is one of the few things the President can do to influence oil prices and it will not have much of any effect on prices. The bottom line is oil is controlled on the international market and is influenced by supply and demand. People always blame the current President when the price goes up and praise the current President when the price goes down.

We ( the US) were energy exporters a year ago. Guess we shouldn’t have shut off the keystone pipeline….

We ( the US) were energy exporters a year ago.

What makes you think that changed?

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Shows how much they have to manipulate the market

6 ( +6 / -0 )

And we had record low gas prices a year ago. If it hasn’t been censored, catch the video of Energy Secretary Jen Granholm laughing and saying it was an excellent chance to go green when asked how she planned to deal with this crisis.

most of the oil released will actually be purchased by India and China.

Has no positive impact for Americans or on the gas price, another Biden failure.

Thanks Biden!

And we had record low gas prices a year ago.

You'd almost think there was a global pandemic that has disrupted supply lines and increased the costs of everything over the past year. Or something.

Has no positive impact for Americans or on the gas price, another Biden failure.

Well that's just a silly claim.

And how does reducing the price of oil help meet the new COP26 targets and pledges for moving away from fossil fuels and reducing emissions?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Biden again taking firm action to help the American people and our industrial competitiveness....

The previous guy would have still been on the golf course...or watching a movie of his favorite porn star...

Going green just took another backseat…again…

You must be happy. I'm not.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, Trump…ok so back to the current President, so if he doesn’t pass this and Manchin and Sinema tank this (praying) then that’s another nail in Biden’s agenda and abundantly clear why so many Dems are jumping ship, I think the number now is 17 that won’t seek re-election next year.

most of the oil released will actually be purchased by India and China.

And shipped in tankers owned by Hillary, Obama, Elvis, and Hugo Chavez....

Has no positive impact for Americans or on the gas price, another Biden failure.

Like the bipartisan infrastructure bill supported by 19 Repub Senators...

Thanks Biden!

Well stated...

pathetic gesture from this total disaster of a "president"

His energy policies are blowing up in his face. He is just grabbing at straws with this pro Big Oil move.

The problem is how we use this stuff.

It is a necessity when used for manufacturing essentials and to keep people from freezing in the winter because they cannot afford to keep themselves warm.

Put it in cars - because governments were too lazy to roll out EV charging infrastructure - and you are just subsidising climate change from public funds.

If Biden is betting on low inflation then he will have problems. Going forward, everything is going to be more expensive, and not just by the odd % point. Restrictions on the use of the global labour pool, supply chain restrictions and sanctions, lockdowns and increased import duties are going to push up the price of everything. There will be lots of shortages and inflation ahead, with knock-on substantial rises in things like mortgage rates. That all tends to go down badly with voters.

50 million barrels is less than 3 days consumption in the US. AND it is a reserve that should only be used in emergency situations.

Biden has done everything in his power to kill fracking, kill pipelines and stop drilling leases in the US.

He has groveled for more blood oil from OPEC as a result.

Now that he sees his poll numbers plummeting, he's desperate.

(Of course, when I say "he", I mean his handlers. He has no idea where he is or what he's saying on any given day.)

Rampant inflation not seen since the 70's, gas prices at an all-time high, race relations at an all-time low, the disaster in Afghanistan, and Corona even worse than a year ago when there were no vaccines.

How's that working out for you, Biden voters?

Happy?

"To put things into perspective, 50 million barrels is equivalent to a production hike by 1.6 million barrels per day for one month or by 1 million barrels per day for seven weeks. This is quite significant."

its almost as if this particular poster ignores the fact that it is the equivalent of less than 3 days consumption.

High gas prices are happening across the globe not just in America.

Ok, but we are talking about Biden. And yes, every poll shows that people are blaming this President for the skyrocketing prices. As Biden Said, “the Buck stops with me.”

Now you know what the rest of us felt for the four years of Trump when all you could talk about was Obama

Well, no it’s not the same, we talked obsessively about his radical policies, you guys just talk about Trump especially Lincoln that loves to make anything and everything regardless of what it is about Trump on a personal level, so yes, there is a huge difference.

U.S. President Joe Biden on Tuesday ordered a record 50 million barrels of oil released from America's strategic reserve, aiming to bring down gasoline and other costs

Was it not Trump who topped these strategic reserve when the oil price was zero, Biden should gave thanked Trump..

Bingo! Biden could do this and that would help his sinking poll numbers, but he’s not and refuses to do it. Head scratcher

Gasoline prices are at about $3.40 a gallon, more than 50% higher than a year ago, according to the American Automobile Association.

I think the president has a sense that things are not going so well but is helpless to change course. He is doing everything the arch Leftists are telling him to do yet his poll numbers are continuing to slide.

It would have been nice if his regressive policy of higher gas prices only affected him and his wealthy Cape Cod buddies. The doubling in the price of gas isn’t something he has to be concerned about on a personal level. He’s got his numerous mansions from his lifetime of “public service”. biden’s mentor former president Obama stated that it is necessary to raise the cost of energy in order to save the planet. The poor would just prefer that they not have to sink into poverty to achieve the dreams of Obama, biden, Kerry, and Al Gore - all multimillionaires with no worries about having to choose between milk for their children or gas for the car.
