Here's another article that has no real point.... Why don't they put the names of the author's in the article? Are they embarrassed?

Are they embarrassed?

They're probably American. That's why.

if you started it...

"If you started it"

Yeah, it would have been much better just to leave the harmless ol' coot alone.

The US needs all the support it can get to fight for the freedom of everyone in Iraq and all over over the world. Thanks for your hard work in dangerous Iraq.

The author seems to have forgot our most important partner in Iraq: the Iraqi Army/Police/Security Forces.

and all over over the world.

I don't understand??? I don't live in America. Why would they want or need to fight for MY freedom? My own country does that for me.

America is not the world's saviour, guardian etc. Please learn this American people. The sooner you realise this, the sooner the whole world will stop hating you.

sarge: "Yeah, it would have been much better just to leave the harmless ol' coot alone."

Clearly so. We all, you aside, know that by now.

neverknow2: America is not the world's saviour, guardian etc

Then refuse our help if you ever need it in the future.

Actually, no. We don't. We won't know the answer to this for a good 20 years. I wish everyone would stop pretending like they already know how this story ends.

But then, people have been pretending that they knew how everything would work out since even before the first tank rolled into the desert. Nothing new I guess.

We have posted our military all over this world and gained anomosity from all we associated with - Lets do it another way "Bring everyone home and defend our country from all those countries we have provided with today's weaponry.. However - Can we trust our own "bought and paid for " leadership ??

Really ? Down to one now ? Hell if you'd have read Japantoday for the past 6-7 years you woulda sworn that it was only the Americans in Iraq... 38 other countries ? Ya don't say ! Seems to me that George Bush has taken a lot of heat for 37 other nations, now how unfair is that ? I'm still waiting for the Brits response... after all, they had 2 Prime Ministers tagging along.

Really? Which country do you live in? My guess is, its actually a free country. Unlike places such as Iran, China, NK, Cuba, and now Venezuala, where Dictator-for-Life Chavez decides what your free to do, say, and think. Then perhaps you'd feel differently. Its amazing how critical people who have freedoms can be, towards those who are helping others attain freedom.

So does this mean the other 38 countries that pulled out are terrorist or terrorist supporters.

Just sayin.

I hope that we will be able to put behind us the polarizing generalizations of the belief that America was the sole guardian of freedom or the opposite belief that America is the cause of all the ills in the world today. Both are extraordinarily ignorant. One thing about political beliefs that I never bought into is the need to create a good guy/ bad guy narrative to bolster your own political orientation. While the Nazis have been written down in our history books as the most vile and evil ideology to have ever existed, their own side of the argument has been erased. So be it. Perhaps someday China will become the hegemony of the world and history will once again not be recognizable to our vantage point. My point is that if lean to any extreme in ideology, you will fail to grasp other vantage points. Case in point is when people want to say that America has saved the world or want to say that America is the cause of all conflict today. I don't think I am being fascicle and morally relative though. America was the bulwark against the tyrannical system of communism through out the cold war. Communism was a greater evil and America did have to do some less savery tactics to insure communism didn't spread. In the end though, the world has benefited from America's fight against communism. Does America deserve thanks for that... No.. but maybe a little respect.

Actually we are not even a coalition of one, I believe that roughly half of us whould rather stay home and work to make our country a better place to live in and be proud of. As I wrote above, it is time we closed all of our bases and came home - maybe that will be called being brooked in isolationism. That's for me!

Maybe its just me, but somehow, I find the thought of a poster suggesting isolationism here, on JT just amusing. Does anyone else find this a bit hypocritical? Since most of us are from America or other English speaking countries, and have visited, or are living in Japan. Suggesting isolationism just somehow seems, kind of hypocritical. But like I said, maybe its just me.
