It is a question of time now before the mainland government clamps down on this.

Washington on Thursday warned U.S. citizens to "exercise increased caution" when traveling to Hong Kong

people are getting shot st like ducks in a pond across the US and the US is warning people about traveling overseas?? What a joke

The US travel warnings are pretty ridiculous, given that many places in the US are far more dangerous than they countries they warn about. (And then there are the endless typhoon warning spam mails.)

That said, the whole world is slowly spiraling out of control, with civil violence and trade wars steadily increasing. Like we are all just starting to circle the drain.

Of course inbound flights are affected, but I suspect outbound are not.

Like we are all just starting to circle the drain.

Quite well put. I think this started slowly and we are approaching the bottom of the bowl quickly.

Osaka dough:

Willie B - I feel China is smarter than entering HKG. China understands if they quash the protests like Tiananmen they will loose much more.

Like what? Of course the regime would not like the negative news, but allowing a secession of HK is totally unacceptable to them. What exactly would that "lose" if they quash the protests with force?

So many possibilities, all bad. China could slowly squeeze Hong Kong, but riots there might spread to other Chinese cities. China may send in troops to restore order. The global fall-out from that could be huge, and lead to bigger problems. Or, the 3rd option, China moves troops in and the world reacts with a few weak words of "concern," because everybody is afraid to tip the balance. Chinese leaders might see this and think, "That wasn't so bad. Maybe we should go ahead and take back Taiwan as well."

How often do we visit Kamagasaki while on vacation? The same general rule would apply to visiting any specific area of any big city in any country.
