Why is our government not actively and forcefully trying to fight this?!

Vote next month to begin to repeal and replace Republicans!

After another article appeared about Mueller last year, members of the troll farm were told to share the article and say that Mueller was a "puppet of the establishment" who had connections to the Democratic Party and "who says things that should either remove him from his position or disband the entire investigation commission."

Which was picked up an used by the automatic echo chambers worldwide.

In other countries, people are free to post their thoughts and opinions.

Not so in the US.

Not entirely true. You're slipping up. There's no doubt that trolls and bots are seeking to muddy the narrative and promote falsehoods, though.

One small piece of the overall large scale, sophisticated Russian attack on our democracy - that continues to this day.

And this is what the Great Orange Collaborator has to say about this attack on our nation;

Asked about the new accusation against the Russians at an appearance in Arizona, President Trump responded that it had "nothing to do with me."

He has failed in one of his primary responsibilities as President - to protect our country...

He is not competent for office - vote out the Republicans who have contributed to this fiasco by their Faustian bargain with Trump.

Get real - in Russia if you post anything critical of Putin or his cronies you'll get a visit from the FSB thugs who'll beat you to near death or sprinkle a little Novochuk on your doorknob...

@burningbus So posting on Social media is illegal in the US? In other countries, people are free to post their thoughts and opinions.

Distortion of what's actually reported.

The Internet Research Agency should look into this. /s

And all governments that do not want to have Russia continue to meddle in their politics should look into the Internet Research Agency. As should all forms of social media.

@burningbus How about a poster like me, I express alternative views on JT.

You should feel fortunate you're able to post here. Think about posting - assuming you're able to - in a country like North Korea, Chin, Russia, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia or one of the other totalitarian states.

You should feel fortunate you're able to post here.

Strange comment. I don't see how it's related to Burning Bush's point. If I make a suggestion here about how Americans should vote in the elections, am I illegally interfering in US affairs?

To my knowledge, nobody in Russia has ever been arrested for posting political views on the internet.

That's because they're dead (poisoned or dumped out of high rise windows)....

In fact, Putin's most vocal critic, Mr. Navalny, has just been released from prison and is openly roaming Moscow spewing anti-Putin rhetoric.

He was free for five seconds before being re-arrested and led off to jail again for another three weeks.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/24/world/europe/russia-navalny.html

And he is free to do so.

By taking his own life in his hands...

In the US, as we can see with the lady in the article, people who post political comments on social media can get arrested for their opinions.

They can get arrested for blatantly posting false conspiracy theories with the clear intent of manipulating and interfering in a free election - it's called information warfare...

Not so in Russia.

Absolutely true - you won't get arrested, you'll just find a little Novochuk left on your doorknob...

The "meddling" charge is ridiculous.

So says Putin and Trump. Eighteen US intelligence organizations say it's true.

Anybody who posts any opinion on any political topic like the ones on JT are "meddling".

Ridiculous. Expressing ones opinion is not engaging in a large-scale, foreign government sponsored attack designed to influence the democratic process of a sovereign nation - that's conspiracy.

How many Japanese people post their opinions about Trump or Clinton? Is it a crime for them to do so?

Read the article - Prosecutors say the conduct singled out on Friday runs afoul of criminal laws that bar foreign nationals from attempting to influence American elections, or from engaging in political activities without first registering with the attorney general.

Actually, it's called censorship.

No, It's called a strategic information warfare campaign conducted in the cyber domain by Russian intelligence.

She's free to post her views, whatever they may be. Whether you agree with them or believe them is your business.

Not if she's working for Russian intelligence, and it's not her views, but those she is being directed by her government to post.

America is the new USSR, where people get arrested for merely expressing their opinions.

I assume from your previous posts you mean that as a compliment...

Where in the article, or from any other credible source, does it say she works for Russian intelligence, or even the Russian government for that matter?

It’s just one of those things where Russia’s reputation makes it so that even without that explicit evidence, we all know it’s true.

See that’s the problem with your homelands actions - no one believes the lies anymore. You’ve discredited yourselves.

It always helps to actually read the article before commenting...

The U.S. accused a Russian woman Friday of conspiring in a sweeping effort to sway American public opinion through social media in the first federal case alleging foreign interference in the 2018 midterm elections.

The criminal complaint alleges that Russians are using some of the same techniques to influence U.S. politics as they relied on ahead of the 2016 presidential election, methods laid bare by an investigation from special counsel Robert Mueller into possible coordination between Russia and Donald Trump's campaign.

Since at least 2015, the group created thousands of false social media profiles and email accounts that appeared to be from people inside the U.S. and were aimed to "create and amplify divisive social and political content," including on significant current events, such as deadly shootings in South Carolina and Las Vegas, prosecutors said in court papers.

One fake persona, registered to "Bertha Malone," made over 400 Facebook posts containing inflammatory content. Another fake Facebook account, in the name of "Rachell Edison," made more than 700 posts focused on gun control and the Second Amendment.

The Russian organizers of the conspiracy advised that the posts should reflect various viewpoints, and it gave specific instructions to only share articles from certain news websites to correspond to specific political views, prosecutors said.

If the Russian woman mentioned in the article were to post her opinion on JT, would you guys consider that to be a criminal offence?

Why don't you ask her, she's probably sitting in the cubicle next to you...
