...Jackson exhibited a pattern of recklessly prescribing drugs and drunken behavior, including crashing a government vehicle while intoxicated and doling out such a large supply of a prescription opioid that staffers panicked because they thought the drugs were missing.

This being the Trump administration, Jackson seems overly qualified. Judging by Trump's phone-in with Fox 'n Friends this morning, Jackson seems to be performing admirably. (I'm two decades behind Trump, and even I can't get so coked that early.)

Glad to

see Donny keeps choosing the best.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

With such behavior, how can he keep his job at all?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Show him the door.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Good riddance. I hope the Candyman isn’t allowed to have any other job in government.

Trump and many of his fellow plutocrats want many government services, including the VA, privatized. Trump’s seen how rich and powerful Putin’s become, and thinks he can get richer selling off US government services and properties.

Drain the swamp! Stop Trump’s attempt to turn the US into a kleptocracy!

Strange that Obama had no comment on the things that supposedly happened during the obama administration. He could have easily shed some light on this as to whether it’s true or a political hatchet job.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

""did not expect to have to dignify baseless and anonymous attacks on my character and integrity."

Which he did by quitting. THe guy was a drunk, among other things, and that has been verified.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Its difficult to imagine Jackson staying on at his WH role.

As he will realize soon, he might have tried to show his loyalty to Trump with that disgraceful Press briefing, but Trump doesnt back his people.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

He could have easily shed some light on this as to whether it’s true or a political hatchet job.

Or Donny could have done his job and vetted his candidate. It really is amazing how nothing is Donny's fault, just blame Obama. Lol

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@blackl Obama had no comment

Dogs bark - the caravan's moved on.

Deflections that include the spectres of Obama and President Hillary, along of course with libs/dems/left/socialists, seem to be the most common defense used by Trump’s base to defend their political messiah.

Worrying that even Trump’s true believers can’t find positives in his actions. Game, set, and match time?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I’m with Blacklabel on this. How come he hasn’t been fired before...

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

What was that about choosing the best guys?

Trump said Jackson had a "beautiful record"

Amazing how someone can sound half-cut without drinking alcohol.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The White House should have vetted this guy properly. Ronny Jackson should've never been nominated in the first place.

Next thing you know, Trump will be wanting to nominate his gardener for secretary of agriculture and his limo driver for secretary of transportation.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I'm surprised the guy is still in the military if all the things I read are true. Nominate him for retirement.

AND, start vetting these people instead of just nominating them because they said something to stroke Trump's ego.

Every day we get more evidence of how out of touch and incapable Trump is for the job.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

So Trump gets blamed for not vetting the guy who Obama vetted already? That’s classic. Nothing but glowing reviews and recommendations for promotions during the previous administrations.

Then Trump appoints him and all the political hacks go jump in the time machine and make up a bunch of stuff that can’t be disproven. Congratulations, another win for the obstructionists.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

So Trump gets blamed for not vetting the guy who Obama vetted already?

Vetted for what, head of the VA? Nonsense. lol No one put a gun to his head and made him pick Ronny Jackson. Donny claims to hire the best people, well do it.

Donny has spent the last decade constantly bagging on Obama, claiming he's really Kenyan etc. So, why the hell who you just take Obama at his word? Why wouldn't you do your own vetting?

make up a bunch of stuff that can’t be disproven

So if it can't be disproven, sounds like its true? :D

Congratulations, another win for the obstructionists.

hahahahahaha No fun, is it?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

It’s not supposed to about “fun”. It’s supposed to be about who can best serve our veterans. Good enough to be alone with Obama for 8 years and be entrusted with the medical care of the President himself, right?

now because he can’t prove that he isn’t a drunk or didn’t crash a car, obstruction rules and our veterans have no leader at the VA.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

It never takes long for cons to invoke Obama.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

No, it isn't meant to be about fun. That said, you conservatives sure are whining a lot now that your tactics are being used against you.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Trump should have vetted him.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

@blackmable  our veterans have no leader at the VA.

No. They do have one, and he was appointed by Trump.

Robert Wilkie, a former Pentagon undersecretary for personnel and readiness appointed by Trump after Shulkin's ouster, remains the acting head of the VA.

> @black It’s supposed to be about who can best serve our veterans

Given what's come out about the Candyman, do you still think he would have been the the one to best serve veterans? A man reputed to have freely prescribed meds? A man with no experience leading a huge organization? If he is so great, you should be happy he's Trump's doctor.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

wonder how it feels to fire someone.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Face it, Trump wants a yes man in the VA to privatize many of its functions.

We should not set businesses loose on our veterans so that they can make a buck by denying coverage. A classic HMO is what is in store for veterans. Nixon loved the idea because it did just that, made money by cutting medical care.

The GoP is on a trend of supporting businesses over its population. Democracy is bad, and profits and wealth is good. The VA is huge, a huge opportunity to make a buck. Veterans are going to be called whiny welfare recipients before it is all over.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

wonder how it feels to fire someone.

Trump seems to love it.

I hate it. It's never been something I've enjoyed having to do.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

This is a bad ending to a story that never should have happened. Did Jackson think that just because Trump nominated him he’d automatically be confirmed. Did he not have enough self awareness to know that he was unqualified for the position and even if none of these allegations came out he was going to have a bruising confirmation hearing. What’s wrong with these people?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Did he not have enough self awareness to know that he was unqualified for the position

With the election of the current president, there is no such thing as unqualified for a government position anymore.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Trump should have vetted him.

Trump needs to appoint someone who can appoint good people. But that someone would have to be appointed by Trump, and so would probably be rubbish. Chicken & egg.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Which he did by quitting. THe guy was a drunk, among other things, and that has been verified.

Nothing was verified. Once again, the left in their hatred for this President did a full on hit piece on the guy. For some reason, when he was Obama’s doctor and Bush’s doctor before that, he was praised and idolized and now under Trump, he just did metamorphosis and turned into a supposed drunk (which one accusation was around the time when Obama was President where he banged on the door of another female employee in a hotel, drunk where Obama his family and other WH staff members where staying and the Secret service had to keep him quiet because of the fear of him possibly waking up the President. Obama gave this man the highest praises and recommendations, but yes, it’s Trump, so now we have to hate this guy. Oh, how the liberal mind never ceases to utterly amaze me.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

This is a bad ending to a story that never should have happened. Did Jackson think that just because Trump nominated him he’d automatically be confirmed.

No, because the Dems don’t have plans on confirming any of Trump’s 289 nominees.

Did he not have enough self awareness to know that he was unqualified for the position and even if none of these allegations came out he was going to have a bruising confirmation hearing. What’s wrong with these people?

The man was more qualified than most people, he has a resume that most humans would love to have. There was absolutely no reason for him not taking the job. The Dems were afraid that he would have possibly privatized the VA which wouldn’t have been a bad idea, so the Dems can’t have that, so get the knives and pitch forks out as well as the monkey wrenches and throw it at this guy until you see him hemorrhaging out of his eyeballs.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

I'm not a veteran, so if Trump wants to reduce services to vets, and it saves me a buck, then I'm all for it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

All the more reason to know that the left could care less about our Vets.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Couldn't care less* and he's poking fun at Republican logic. Same thing with healthcare, "I'm not poor, I don't need healthcare subsidies, so if getting rid of it saves me a buck, I'm all for it." Very consistent.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Secret service just released a statement saying they have no knowledge of the supposed drunken incident they supposedly were involved in. But of course we already knew it would be like that.

If someone else needs to actually explain your supposed Sarcasm, it’s not very good.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Yup, with the exception I care for our Vets.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Yup, with the exception I care for our Vets.

Yup, you care about them enough to privatize the VA so private companies can make a buck off killing them off and providing increasingly worse care. Of course you care about vets, Bass. ;)

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I also care about vets. I defended McCain when Trump mocked his service.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Yup, you care about them enough to privatize the VA so private companies can make a buck off killing them off and providing increasingly worse care.

Funny, how so many Vets don't want libs anywhere near them running the VA. The same people that spat on them and calling them baby killers as they came back from Vietnam.

Of course you care about vets, Bass. ;)

Oh, most definitely.

I also care about vets. I defended McCain when Trump mocked his service.

Yes and still the majority of Vets love Trump after all that campaign ruckus.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Funny, how so many Vets don't want libs anywhere near them running the VA.

They're really going to love dying so Trumpy friends can make a buck, won't they? ;)

The same people that spat on them and calling them baby killers as they came back from Vietnam.

Yawn. "I like people who weren't captured.."-some dude who totally respects the military ;)

1 ( +1 / -0 )

They're really going to love dying so Trumpy friends can make a buck, won't they? ;)

No, they're just probably breathing a sign of relief that the Democrats aren't in charge of the VA anymore, now they can enjoy hope and life again.

Yawn. "I like people who weren't captured.."-some dude who totally respects the military ;)

Lol, yes, we heard it all, he doesn't respect Blacks, but has Ben Carson as secretary of HUD, had that dummy Omarosa, hates gays, but appointed Rick Grenell as the first openly gay conservative, hates Jews, eventhough his son in law is Jewish, virtually everything the left has said and the attempts they have tried to demonize this President, it hasn't worked yet and no one believes it. Remember, during the campaign, he called every single person a name and guess what, he still won. Guys, save it.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Yep who was in charge again when more than 200 veterans died waiting for care at a VA facility in Phoenix? Or one year earlier when 37 veterans suffered the same fate due to delayed care in Shreveport, La.

thought the last guy was “scandal free”?
