Yeah, they decrease symptoms and they are unlikely to immediately give you anything serious, but nobody knows what can pop up later...

As opposed to the natural infection for which we already have evidence that it gives infected people serious problems in the short, medium and long term. At this point vaccines are in comparison much safer even taking in account what may appear in the future, because COVID-19 already showed negative effects that can last for life, the approved vaccines haven't.

That is incorrect. mRNA therapy is a tool, that can be used for gene therapy (for modification of the expression of proteins as ASO or RNAi) but also for other purposes, like helping in the production of proteins necessary to the body, as anticancer agents or as vaccines against infections, these are not "gene therapy" (else using attenuated vaccines would also be). Alain Fischer wholly supports vaccinations with the available vaccines, including those that use mRNA.

Vaccine development for COVID-19 has been a huge technological success for humanity, but some people will always hold to their irrational fears and try to sway perfectly rational people with false arguments and opinions disguised as facts. It is sad that this complicates the delivery of the vaccine for those that can understand how it reduces their risks.

They never cured the common cold or flu (regardless of seasonal flu shots), and now we get multiple types of vaccines for a complex bug that has provided a convenient reason for global governments to exercise more authority.

The vaccines already have proven efficacy and safety, the virus does not have a natural recombination mechanism like influenza, being convenient is the whole purpose of developing something.

More importantly, If the vaccine is safe obviously politicians know it and will not hesitate to receive it, and if the vaccine is not, that would mean a huge world-wide conspiracy involving literally thousands of scientists and health care professionals can fake the human trials results to make it appear trustworthy even to people whose career consist on picking up studies to find problems, how difficult would it be for this huge conspiracy to change the contents of a syringe?

I think that every politician should get in line first...

Incorrect, inactivated vaccines have much higher risks, not only because they include extra proteins that can trigger allergic or autoimmune reactions (the nuclear protein is one frequent example), but also because for highly pathogenic coronaviruses they bias the immune response towards a pathological inflammatory reaction, meaning that people vaccinated have a higher risk of getting an immune response that damages the tissues and produces heavier complications or even death.

There is no real possibility for an inactivated vaccine to be better at preventing viral mutations, every protein of the virus can change and escape the immunity, from the many antigens possible the spike is one that is more strongly fixed because the virus depends on it to infect efficiently. Any viral strain that could change so much that escapes the immunity from the mRNA vaccine can also do the same with inactivated virus vaccines.

So if one is in a group that is predisposed to have serious side effects from Covid19, indeed you might want to consider getting the vaccine. But most of us will be fine without it.

That is false, he made no distinction because even healthy young people benefit of a reduced risk with the vaccine when compared with the natural infection. Most people will be interested on having a much reduced risk instead of betting on being "fine".

Raw Beer never said the rest should die. What was simply said is that if one is predisposed to serious side effects, then getting the vaccine is something to be considered. As Mark Twain said "Get the facts first, then you can distort them anyway you please".

I fully respect the right of people not to believe in vaccines... But then I ask them complete coherence with their thought process. If you believe vaccines are dangerous, you should believe all modern medicine is dangerous. From antibiotics to chemotherapy. If you don't trust scientists and doctors in regards to vaccines, you shouldn't trust them for anything else and therefore never step foot in a hospital again.

The topic of having different vaccines available is interesting. How does that work on the ground level?

Are recipients given a choice of vaccine type? What is the difference between these medicines?

And if there are different vaccines for the same bug, why is that? How does a recipient make a decision on his or her options when all these different experimental vaccines are being dispensed so fast?

Yeah, traditional vaccines have a much more established history, compared to these new experimental mRNA gene therapies. But I am concerned by those traditional vaccines because they are produced in cultures of either human embryonic cells, monkey cells, or perhaps eggs. Who knows what is injected into you with the inactivated or weakened virus. Some have claimed that HIV was spread by a vaccine produced in a monkey cell culture (HIV was a monkey virus).
