The Southern tip of South America is called "Patagonia" by both Argentina and Chile.

BsAs and most major cities in Chile, all of Uruguay are 0ver 2000km away from the "Southern tip of South America".

It is like comparing Seattle, WA with Anchorage, Alaska. Vastly different climates.

But officials in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay hope high vaccination rates mean this latest wave will not be as deadly as previous ones.

So an area with a high vaccination rate is experiencing a wave of breakthrough infections.

I thought that the point of reaching a high vaccination rate was to stop the waves.
