”Don’t hurt me! I am 100% MAGA! I am not a heretic!”

Some of those charged and sentenced for violence had previous violent crimes, DV, and sexual assaults.

"Members of the far-right Proud Boys and Oath Keepers were charged with seditious conspiracy, the most severe charge levied by prosecutors. Juries in those cases found numerous defendants, including Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio and Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, guilty of using force to oppose the federal government. Tarrio received the longest of the Jan. 6 sentences — 22 years in prison — while Rhodes was sentenced to 18 years."

MTG wants all of them pardoned.
JD is not so sure.
This will be a true test of the MAGA faith. And then on to prosecute all the “rouge” FBI agents who instigated the violence. The violence that MAGA claims never happened.
bass4funk
Well, that will soon be over with. Lawyers standing by for these people…
plasticmonkey
bass is now openly defending the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers.
!!!
plasticmonkey
Notice the language there.
bass4funk
Yes, Lawyers can’t wait to file
I’m defending every American’s God given right to protest, and their constitutional rights to speak out about their government, and proudly.
Ken
Maga about to start chanting again. What they wanted to do to Pence right? Because that's how Maga rolls like the violent thugs they are
wallace
Does that include the rioters and looters who destroyed property, attacked the police, and stole property?
Bob Fosse
Hitting someone with a fire extinguisher or piece of barricade is not constitutionally protected. It’s a crime, go to prison.
Peter Neil
gods or goblins have nothing to do with it or mentioned in the bill of rights or anywhere in the constitution - the basic law of the land.
the 1st amendment:
*Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.*
please note the word "peaceably."
nowhere does it say the word "protest," but says petition the government.
please don't use your own declarative language misrepresenting the rights embodied in the constitution as if they are words from some messiah.
thank you
Some dude

You already know the response you're going to get to this.
"Well it depends on how you interpret the words "congress", "law", religion", "free", "exercise", "abridging", "freedom", "speech", "press", "right", "people", "peaceably", "assemble", "petition", "government", "redress" and ""grievances". I have my opinion as to what those words mean and I am allowed to have that opinion!

Why do you think these burly Proud Boys and Oath Keepers got geared up in military garb when they "visited" the Capitol? To give speeches? To stage a "be-in"?
They're violent, seditious thugs.
Ken
It would be better if Mike Pence and Niki Hailey didn't give in to the Maga pressure and continued to hold their ground on Trump and Maga losing their way. Pence or Hailey would make a better president than Trump by a long shot. Like if the guy in charge of leader the country threw temper tantrums the first time, what's to stop him from doing the same the next time, now he's really going to push beyond the limit
bass4funk
JD said, the majority of them should be released, maybe some that went over the line could stay a year or longer, but other than that, they should be out.
How so?
Wrong, but Patel will deal with that, so the FBI lease will be rebuilt and and the Washington establishment cronies will be terminated.
plasticmonkey
My guess is that all of them will be pardoned. And the claim will be made that all of them didn't commit violence.
None of them should be pardoned. To do so is to openly endorse sedition and the use of any means possible to prevent the peaceful transfer of power.
bass4funk
Like Trump will never be President or that he will go to prison? How’d that work out?
I disagree
They served enough time, were denied due process, so they should find the best lawyers and sue the pants off these people for violating their constitutional rights as Americans
Blacklabel
Well, about that pardon power, a President can pardon anyone they want can’t they?
even adult children, right?
they said only non violent people case by case, sounds reasonable. More than pardoning your own son or your brother and his wife.
plasticmonkey
No they weren't.
plasticmonkey
True. But there are still rights and wrongs.
That was wrong. I didn't agree with it.
Pardoning seditionists is also wrong.
It's not all zero sum.
Peter Neil
the problem with blanket pardons for jan 6th rioters is that any group could take that as a free pass to do it again. they may not be “your” rioters.
Blacklabel
which is what JD is saying.
You the one saying it will be “all” when it won’t be.
ArtistAtLarge
The Trump supporters are already mad at JD in other social media.

So then why were the J6 committee so hostile in allowing the House Republicans to view all the evidence, arrest reports and testimonies? I mean, if these people were hypothetically in the right they would be as transparent as possible, but since they weren’t, it’s safe to say they were not forthcoming whatsoever, and as such they should sue the pants off these people once they’re released.

bass4funk
All Presidents, and I mean, all of them had questionable controversial pardons throughout history, not everyone will be happy. I think Biden should pardon Trump, it would definitely help his post Presidency image in the future and show everyone what a real magnanimous leader can do, set an example.
plasticmonkey
You are confusing the January 6 committee with federal charges brought by prosecutors. They’re not the same.
plasticmonkey
A president cannot pardon someone for state crimes, only federal.
Cephus
"Vance insisted in an interview on “Fox News Sunday” that the pardon question is “very simple," saying those who “protested peacefully” should be pardoned and “if you committed violence on that day, obviously you shouldn’t be pardoned.” He later said there was a “bit of a gray area” in some cases."
It's time to set free the January 6th political prisoners, the era of Joe's illegal regime is almost over.
