I wouldn't be a cop in the US for all the tea in Milwaukee. Nevertheless the way that many arrests are made are pretty brutal. and use of tasers and live rounds is pretty rough.

Heavy handed indeed, but I sincerely doubt he'll park in a handicapped space again. ..

This elephant is where it always starts, quote: "As Brown walks out of the store, an officer standing by Brown's car asks him for his driver's license. When Brown gets close to his car's passenger door, the officer touches Brown and he tells the officer not to touch him."
The officer has seen a particular car and maybe a driving style, and made an intuitive judgment.
Why did Brown not offer to show his license, and why did he move towards the car door?Say no more.

All it takes for a prairie fire is one little spark.

If no cameras, beat on black people. Or Muslim or Mexicans.

I knew one white guy in a major U.S. city who told me he made the mistake of calling one city's finest a pig at some kind of a protest rally and received the officer's billy club across the top of his head. He regained consciousness a few hours later asking his friends what happened.
Moral of the story: Don't disrespect the police officers, especially when you're on their turf.
Toasted Heretic
Institutional racism at its finest. Corrupt cops should be locked up.
bass4funk
That was bad, but thankfully, idiot cops like that only represent 1% of the overall police force in the US.
Toasted Heretic
I'm afraid I can't take that stat seriously without an unbiased source or citation, Mr bass.

That’s ok, my brother is a cop, been on many ride along and been around too many cops, half of my family is tied to law enforcement, the majority of cops are good cops, now we know The media focuses primarily on minorities when something bad happens to them, don’t something happens to white person the media completely ignores it, it’s always like that and been like that for many years.

Take a hundred BLM members at a rally and Fox will show 1 that threw a punch, then they will use that to say BLM is a racist, violent organization.
Take a hundred cops and point to 1 that broke the law and it's presented as 1%.
Toasted Heretic
I must have imagined the worlwide coverage of the Justine Damond shooting, in that case.

Good thing for police bodycam:

Milwaukee police apologizing for how Sterling Brown was treated by its officers
On the same day, the NFL announces new rules for kneeling during the anthem
This is why they kneel
This may happen to all the poor people black or white, but ya don't see this happen on rich white folk, while it still happens with rich black folk
BTW, here's Sterling Brown's statement:

They are and?
Like I said, if they were that racist, Blacks and Latinos could never walk the streets. Nice try.
Jimizo
What is your definition of racist?

This was a huge screw up by the Milwaukee PD but it appears that they've publicly handled it properly.
The people crying that all cops are racists need to stop and do some actual thinking for themselves instead of listening to the media. There's approximately 800,000 sworn police officers in the US. We get what, a few incidents every couple months? Lets even be generous and double that to take in to account unreported incidents.
Heck, lets go crazy and just round it way up to 10 incidents a month.
Folks, wake up. That's 0.00125 percent of police officers. That's not 'all cops'. That barely even counts as "a few cops".
So just stop with the all cops are racist nonsense. It's just not true and it only fans the flames of hatred. It's no better than saying all black people are criminals.
SuperLib
I don't think all cops are racist. I just see a difference where a racist cop is singled out as an outlier while a group like BLM is called racist for the actions of a few.
So, cops are racist in the same way BLM is racist. You can choose to make that a generalization that all people in both groups are racist or these groups have a few bad seeds that unfairly paints everyone.

You also aren’t the only ones commenting. Toasted up there refuses to believe that only a tiny percentage of cops are racists without ‘proof’. If that’s not a claim that all cops are racist, I don’t know what is.
Toasted Heretic
Toasted has witnessed racist police up close and personal, in the US and the UK. Now, are all cops corrupt filth? Of course not. There are some who join the force to try and tackle the institutional racism from within. But it's such a monumental task, many become disillusioned and run with the pack.
Don't trust the majority of them, as their job is to racially discriminate against people of colour. Kudos to those who don't.

It sounds to me like the moral of the story is that American police feel entitled to escalate a non-violent situation with dangerous and potentially deadly violence just because their pride is threatened. And as news stories including this one show, their pride is particularly threatened by people of color showing the slightest bit of dignity or awareness of their rights.
extanker
Show me the evidence that the majority of the 800,000 (that's almost a million, folks) police officers in the US are corrupt racists. You can't because it doesn't exist.
