The airline should print on their plane tickets the accepted dress code, air style and a map from North-Korea.

Don't like saggy pants either but this is going too far.

No, it's not going too far. I can remember when people put on neckties and got a shoeshine before they traveled by air. Now flying on US carriers reminds me of Greyhound bus travel, complete with a pair of fuzzy-faced, toothless winos in ragged clothing on the back seat. When companies and institutions implement policies that discourage people from behaving like pigs, it's doing them a favor. As for Mr. Marman, he's going to have trouble making it to future football games now that his name appears on the airlines' no-fly list.

violating the airline’s expectation that customers won’t dress offensively

Virtuoso, I fully agree. I'm sick of traveling with these slobs who think they are taking the bus. Sweat pants, wife beater t-shirts, sandals, baseball caps and all of their luggage stuffed into multiple duffle bags that they bring onboard as carry-ons and stuff into the overhead bins so they can avoid the luggage fees. Sometimes its like a scene out of the movie Blade Runner or City of God, only at 35,000 feet in a confined space. It's no wonder so many people get sick after spending hours in these airborne TB wards.

Deshon in his plumber-butt trousers at the airport. Need to get Malcom Gladwell on this one. Surely the public is missing the true import here.

It doesn't sound like this person was really arrested for his dress code, but for his attitude and non-compliance. I don't think that his defense that his hands were full will work because it seems that he consistently ignored the airlines' requests.

I can easily imagine that when he was asked to pull up his pants he most likely had retorted in a belligerent or sarcastic tone that annoyed the airline staff member. As these people routinely have to put up with a lot of bad attitudes I would think that this fellow must have been particularly unpleasant for it to esculate to the point where he was arrested.

I'm constantly amazed how these non-incidents could have been completely avoided had people just been polite and cooperative.

"nothing was visible once his client sat down"

Yeah, but until he sat down people could see his butt cheeks. And then his bare butt cheeks were in direct contact with the seat.

Some people are idiots.

As a good spoof, on the next flight, the captain and flight attendants could tell all the passengers to jack down their pants to show some undies, or else they will call the police on them. Just thinking out of the box.

Personally, I think if the guy wants to show his undies, let him. As long as he does not smell like BO, or be so corpulent as to take over half of my seat, have really badly rotted teeth and gums, and with horse breath, then I am ok with my neighbors.

Sweat pants are fine too. The seats are so tight together, so why would I want to wear a suit? Dress comfortable and walk around a lot to keep the clots away. This guy should not have been arrested.

World news?

I read in another story that the pants were those "pajama" type that people seem to be wearing out in public today. And that they were hanging down below his waist and exposing the top half of his boxers.

I wonder when it became fashionable to wear sleepwear in public. Never will get used to that.

For those who say that he is exercising his right to wear what he wants, let me ask you this question. Would you sit in the same seat after him after a 2 hour flight in an airplane? You do realize that with airline schedules, the plan would debark and reload within a matter of minutes, so do you think that the seat would have had a chance for a "deep cleaning."

So for those who say let them wear the pants the way that they want, just think about that.

-was looking for some humor, but not any. With the TSA scanners/groping people are more tense when flying.

I had witnessed a few youngmen, whom I have known, wearing extremely skimpy tank tops, aka underwear, when traveling by air, while on the ground they wear quite normal attire. It seems they have a desire to tell the world loudly that, to them, the so called "jet set" is really nothing, nothing at all.
