Really happy for her, and super pleased that Malaysia has taken the moral high ground on this. Respect, Malaysia! Many thanks from one human on the planet.

Good news, while I feel, and the evidence fully supports this, that Doan knew absolutely nothing about the murder beforehand, this has to be a victory for her.

If I were in her shoes, I'd take this sentence and be free in a month after time served.

If she really is innocent, good. Still doesn't explain how you can unknowingly apply XV without killing yourself too. The only way to avoid your own death is by knowing that you have XV on your hands or gloves.

Duped, one as the ingredient the other the activator. Now let's see the handlers on trial? Or are we all crying about the Spanish embassy being breached. Perhaps like these two women they were duped.

I still haven't read how she was unknowingly able to apply XV without killing herself.? From her hands or gloves. XV being one of the most lethal agents on earth. Just saying.

Various online media sources say that each of the ladies carried precursor to VX, so that only mixing it would create the deadly form of it. I've also read that one of the two women showed some symptoms of VX poisoning so I assume it was whoever applied the second agent on Kim's face.

If they knew they were conducting a high-level assassination, they would have demanded or received huge $$$, at least in the thousands. The amounts mentioned were paltry, $50, or whatever, in line with a prank as opposed to a murder.

If the prosecutors had a case, they would have pursued the financial aspects. It seems they didn't.

They walked up to a stranger and willingly smeared an unknown substance on his face which resulted in his death. The definition of involuntary manslaughter. They don't deserve to go free, their gullibility is no excuse.

Same crime, but the Indonesia Muslim woman was freed and Buddhist Vietnamese woman was convicted.

Obviously, the Islamic Malaysia justice system has practiced a double standard for Muslim and non-Muslim peoples.

So if you were playing what you thought was a video game, that was actually killing people, you should go to jail too right?

Also, I don't think you know what involuntary manslaughter is:

Involuntary manslaughter usually refers to an unintentional killing that results from criminal negligence or recklessness, or from committing an offense such as a DUI. It differs from voluntary manslaughter in that the victim's death is unintended.

There was neither negligence here, nor neglect.

This is the same question you already asked me before and I already answered it. You're comparing reality to science fiction.

I wouldn't have brought it up if I didn't. Walking up to a stranger and rubbing some random substance on their face is assault. You could be arrested for it. There is your criminal negligence.

@extanker,

you are correct.

@chopchop,

I agree.

This is the same question you already asked me before and I already answered it. You're comparing reality to science fiction.

And before this incident happened it was a hypothetical. But then it happened. A similar idea could happen with video games and likely will someday.

But I can see you would rather avoid the comment than deal with it.

Walking up to a stranger and rubbing some random substance on their face is assault.

Not if you have no reason to think the person isn’t part of it and a willing participant. It’s only negligence if you were lacking in due diligence. But these women were deceived into doing what they thought was one action, that ended up having completely different results. Results intended by those that deceived the girls into doing the action. Those that put a lot of time, effort and money into convincing these girls they were on a game show, not muttering some dude.

I’ve asked before and you always skip it - what would be the purpose of imprisonment, or even a conviction for these girls? There is no benefit to society. It only lets a few people get a dopamine rush because someone was made to pay.

No, I fully addressed it the last time you asked. I simplified it for you. Faking a reality show is not science fiction. Playing The Last Starfighter is.

And before this incident happened it was a hypothetical. But then it happened.

Fine, when the killer video game is created, we can address that too.

Not if you have no reason to think the person isn’t part of it and a willing participant.

Because a third party told you it was ok to put your hands on someone else? That is not a valid excuse. That would be the criminal negligence part. They did not do their own due diligence to find out if what they were doing was legit, put their hands on a man without permission and killed him in the process. I would say that is a pretty cut and dried example of involuntary manslaughter.

I’ve asked before and you always skip it - what would be the purpose of imprisonment, or even a conviction for these girls? There is no benefit to society. It only lets a few people get a dopamine rush because someone was made to pay.

What are you talking about? I never skipped it. I answered it every single time you asked. The purpose of imprisoning these women would be to punish them for their crime. That is one of the purposes of putting people in prison, to punish them for committing a crime. You also ask what it would deter. It would deter people who are too busy looking for their 15 minutes of fame instead of using common sense from doing something stupid like this.

Assault is assault.

My vote goes for oldman_13. That answers most of my questions.

I feel some kind of inner rage at the 4 DPRK agents who tricked and trained the two women, paid them peanuts, watched them go through with the murder from an airport coffee shop and then jumped on an aircraft back to North Korea. Premeditated murder, in public, laughing at the Malaysian authorities.
