On an emotional level, I cheer. But on a realistic level, this is just one step further down for the US. Soon shops will have to state their political affiliation at the door, and only those of the appropriate political persuasion will be allowed inside.

Just call it the Reverse Cake Baker policy. If a baker can refuse to make cakes for a gay wedding, a restaurant can refuse to serve a lying member of the most dishonest White House since Nixon.

15 ( +30 / -15 )

@Strangerland - you took the words right out of my mouth. The U.S. is creeping down a very dangerous path and this started long before Trump took office. It is just now being accelerated.

As I have posted repeatedly the level of intolerance for those with differing opinions in the U.S. has now reached dangerous levels.

@Bass - The higher courts over-ruled the verdict and ruled the baker should not have been forced to make the cake for the gay couple (actually I think the higher court was right on this one based on the verbiage of the ruling)

12 ( +13 / -1 )

I am still with Strangerland - the level of intolerance is dangerous and nothing to celebrate at all. Other thoughts...

@Haaa Nemui - Thank you for posting this story. I read it completely. Actually in the end it sounds like both parties handled this well at the restaurant and were civil. The owner asked Ms. Sanders to leave, politely, and Ms. Sanders said OK, politely and offered to pay. The owner comped whatever they consumed up to that point. End of story.....well, no...

This got to the media via a Facebook post and here we are. The story got sensationalized and now those involved are tweeting, giving interviews, etc.

20 years ago this would never have made the news.

Is this a good or bad thing? I do not know.

In my opinion, the Colorado case is very different (I am very pro Gay marriage). A gay couple asked a bakery to bake a cake. The owner of the bakery is a devout Christian (rightly or wrongly so that is his belief) and he refused. He said he would bake a cake for them for any other occasion but not for a marriage as it is against his beliefs. At the time he was asked to bake a cake. Gay marriage was banned by the state Constitution at the time he as asked to bake the cake. The lower courts ruled against the baker. The upper courts ruled in his favor.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Trump didn't create the hate and intolerance. He exposed it.

He exploited it.

11 ( +17 / -6 )

They could have played the religion card and said serving someone who works for an administration which egregiously violates Christian principles was unconscionable. The religion card does seem to allow for behaviour otherwise regarded as unacceptable.

To be honest, I would have served them. Don’t sink to the level of the ‘virtuous’.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Just as well she's not an African American otherwise it would be "Racist"

10 ( +17 / -7 )

If someone can choose to refuse service to someone based on religious beliefs, no reason someone else can't do it based on political beliefs. That's pretty straightforward.

Having been working in hotel or restaurant for years, People are just being unprofessional in both cases : you are here to work, not do politics. Unless someone is causing trouble, there is no reason to turn away a customer.
9 ( +11 / -2 )

What if the person turned away was a Black Lives Matter spokesperson? Would liberals still be celebrating it?

Still? I'm liberal, and I'm not celebrating it.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

She helps promote the view that there are second class citizens. I guess we are all second class citizens on someone’s list.

Or maybe the owner is Christian and thought she was a lesbian and didn’t want to serve her. Heroes?

7 ( +12 / -5 )

I agree, the intolerance is just stupid be it from the left or the right. The fact that it's being celebrated is disturbing.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

On the bright side, better to be thrown out than find something floating in your cream of corn soup.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

liberals know this is wrong... when it happens to someone on the other side, lets justify it.

I haven't justified it. I think it was the wrong move. Two wrongs don't make a right.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

On the bright side, better to be thrown out than find something floating in your cream of corn soup.

This. As someone who worked my way through college and grad school waiting tables, trust me when I say don't piss off your waiter. And if you're a bad tipper, don't come back.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Since the US marine corps is unique in having to pledge allegiance directly to the President, does that mean that this restaurant won't serve any US marines?

I'm quite sure they would. They'd also serve Putinbots, provided they didn't wear their troll hats.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Its just getting ridiculous. chasing people out of restaurants, protesting outside their homes, doxxing ICE agents. screaming at people coming out of movies. yelling obscenities at the president on his way to the Capitol. Makes liberals seem seriously unhinged.

It makes extremist liberals look unhinged.

But I hope you're not trying to pretend your party doesn't have extremist problems as well. We could list things like ripping kids away from their parents and keeping them in cages, or running down protestors with cars and tiki torches to show the problems on the right as well.

Extremism is never good, and if you are only willing to condemn the extremism on the other team, while not admitting the extremism on your own team, you are part of the problem. We need to eliminate the extremism on both sides. Extremism does not justify extremism.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Of course the ex Obama ethics lawyer trying to tell us that Sanders violated multiple laws with her tweet telling what happened to her. Give it a break, man.

It’s an official account criticizing a private business. That was a mistake on her part. She should have posted it from a personal account.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

And the other side was ripping children from their parents and keeping them in cages.

So enough of the manufactured outrage.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

@Tokyo-Engr and cucashopboy - yeah the story adds at least some perspective to the situation. Both parties appear to have acted in good manner. It's more than can be said for a lot of people from BOTH sides who are commenting about it. I think the sensationalism is a dangerous thing. The staff member who initially posted about it really shouldn't have IMO.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Hit the minus key all you want. A business owner of a restaurant in Lexington V.A. should not have kicked anyone out of the Hen House from the White House. I lived in area of Virginia where the Red Hen is located ten years. The majority Virginians from the area simply would say. We can agree to disagree. How are your kids? Would you like to see the win list? And the striped bass brought in from the Chesapeake bay was brought in fresh today Maam.

I am sure Mrs Sanders went Palms at the corner of Nelson and Jefferson.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

First and foremost Sarah Sanders is a customer.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

I can be fairly sure of one thing. The Democrats will win big in November.

No no I do not think so.

I think I probably agree. Democrats have never done well in the midterms, and Trump supporters are fanatics who will be out in droves to vote. I think the Republicans will be much more likely to get out there and vote come November.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

The main problem with the restaurant denying service to Sanders is that it leads to exactly what we are seeing here - the right accusing the left of some authoritarian behavior. And there isn't really an argument against that as they are right. It doesn't matter that the right is way more oppressive and inflexible than the left 95% of the time, because they are right this time. This is why it's so important to maintain the high road even when the other team goes low, because once you go low, you are no better than that which you profess to oppose.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

It takes a lot of heart to stand up to injustice when your pocketbook is on the line. Bravo.

Your behavior at White House press conferences is not respectful to the reporters in the room. I think the Red Hen owner treated you with a lot more respect than you show other people. Guess the Golden Rule doesn't apply to you, or your understanding of Romans 13.

3 ( +17 / -14 )

I'm torn.

On the one hand, I think that public establishments should serve everyone. Including gay couples who want wedding cakes.

On the other hand, the Trump people are teetering on the edge of crimes against humanity.

-sigh-

3 ( +12 / -9 )

What if the person turned away was a Black Lives Matter spokesperson?

It wasn't. Next.

3 ( +11 / -8 )

Well, all I know is that the way the Left keeps carrying on about 2016, they are just cementing the inevitable in 2020.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

No matter how you look at this. It was wrong. The baker was wrong too. You do not kick someone out of your place and business just because they don't jive with you politically. Mrs. Sanders deserves to be treated with respect. On the flip side of this. Mrs. Clinton deserves to be treated with respect if the rolls were reversed. It was a sit down for a meal. The Red hen owner should offer a serious apology. This is taking it to far.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

One's race or sexual preference is nature. One's lying and repeating lies of a racist demagogue is choice.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

The anti-Trump blowback is getting this personal. I have never seen anything like this in the United States, not even during Watergate. And it is only the beginning.

Remarkably, even the conservative George F. Will has turned against Trump and the Republicans.

The genteel art of debate has gone out the window. But that was tossed by Trump before he was elected. And indeed there is no genteel way of dealing with Trump and the liars and thugs behind him.

Where will this lead? I can be fairly sure of one thing. The Democrats will win big in November. Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess. As the Chinese saying goes, we are living in interesting times.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Trump Republicans and their acolytes are liars who make a living on the hatred and misery of others.

Disrupting dinners and 86ing. If that's what it takes to make a point.

As the uber-capitalists always like to point out, it's the owner's right to chose who he does business with or not.

Right?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

As the uber-capitalists always like to point out, it's the owner's right to chose who he does business with or not.

Which I'm pretty sure we've been saying is wrong. I don't agree with the left using the 'two wrongs make a right' approach on this.

I think Huckabee should have been told that she wasn't wanted or welcome, but due to the owners not being right-wing, she was welcome to stay.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Never bring politics or religion to the dinner table, either at home or in a restaurant.

The dinner table should always be a safe environment. Steer clear of political/religious opinion or intolerance. Step back, relax, enjoy, have a drink.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Makes liberals seem seriously unhinged.

I've heard Sanders was born in Kenya, and I will embark on a vehement six-year crusade to demand she prove she wasn't until the instant I drop the subject forever when it no longer serves my purpose.

That is unhinged. What the restaurant did was perhaps a tad overreaction to understandable frustration towards a woman who fronts for a hypocritical, immoral, lying administration.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

The restaurant owner here is wrong on two fronts; 1) common business courtesy says to extend your business to any patron, an 2) we shouldn't advance polarization - it only makes it worse. Yes, Saunders is press spokesperson for a President that is a psychotic, and she has been exposed as a serial liar also. But two wrongs don't make a right. It was also rude and in bad form to shout down the Homeland Security Director (another serial liar) as she was eating.

One thing we (Republicans and Democrats) have to prove is that we're not like Trump and his supporters - we have moral standards, we believe in decency and compassion. Let them wallow in their hate, fear and intolerance. Mrs Obama's words have never been more relevant - let them go low, we'll go high. .

3 ( +6 / -3 )

She lives in a great country and makes a lot of money and she’s obviously ungrateful for that. Besides, this is something that happened in her personal life and she’s using her famous position at work to draw attention to it.

Very ungrateful.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Where is the outrage when Trump fans go after people who criticize Trump?

I think the bigger story here is conservative hypocrisy.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Bass: Better off than being in the blazing hot unforgiving desert sand, away from the smugglers and rapists, safe and sound, 3 meals a day, WiFi, Skype, classes. Yeah, just outright torture. Lol!

Is that how Trump fans live with the guilt of intentionally targeting children for political gain? “They have PlayStations LOLOLOLOL!!”

And besides, Sanders has a problem with obesity. She should thank the restaurant owner for refusing to contribute to her unhealthy habits. He was just looking out for her well-being In the same way separating kids from their parents was protecting them.

Of course there’s a difference between losing your kids and losing a pork chop, but still.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

On an emotional level, I cheer. But on a realistic level, this is just one step further down for the US. Soon shops will have to state their political affiliation at the door, and only those of the appropriate political persuasion will be allowed inside.

@Stranger: that is both a slippery slope argument and a false predicate.

I'll assume you know the former. As regards the predicate:

I do not cheer Sander being shunned because she is a Republican. I cheer she being Shunned because she is Trump's Trumpeter.

Ward: Just don't lose sight of whose rights are being violated!

Anderson: Don't put me on your perch, Mr. Ward.

Ward: Don't drag me into your gutter, Mr. Anderson!

Anderson: These people are crawling out of the SEWER, MR. WARD! Maybe the gutter's where we outta be!

Owner's version of events.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/americas/donald-trumps-america/104962702/why-a-smalltown-restaurant-owner-asked-sarah-huckabee-sanders-to-leave

2 ( +7 / -5 )

So, we have Episode 213 in "Useless Virtue Signalling". Nothing like a tiny fisted tantrum to satisfy one's delicate ego that they are Speaking Truth to Power/sarc.

Attilathehungry - please read the link Haanemui posted. There was no virtual signalling or tantrums, all sides exposed with the utmost decorum.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

I think Huckabee should have been told that she wasn't wanted or welcome, but due to the owners not being right-wing, she was welcome to stay.

Sorry, 'allowed' to stay. I already established she wouldn't be welcome.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

When your political issue is causing life-long trauma to innocent children, you deserve zero cordial hospitality and I will lose zero sleep about any supporter of this brutally racist attempt at fascism getting their feelings hurt because someone said something mean to them one time.

This times 1,000,000. It's beyond comprehension that anyone could compare tearing young children away from their families forever and dumping them in cages in concentration camps to being politely asked to leave a restaurant.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Hope she goes bankrupt.

Wow, harsh.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Let see just this week. Sanders kicked out of restaurant. Misleading Time magazine cover. Incorrectly dated photos. False story about Downs kid. Obscenities yelled at Trump inside the Capitol. Congressman flipped off Mike Pence. Stormy and Kathy Griffin flipped off trump. Steven miller called a Nazi and doxxed by address and phone. Disabled mil veteran ICE agent falsely called Nazi. ICE agents doxxed in downloadable database. Obama created Detention centers called concentration camps. DHS secretary protested at dinner and at her home Melania physically threatened. Barron threatened with sex assault. Trump Jr 4 yr old daughter threatened with violence.

Well, quite a few of these are bogus - but those that are legitimate are absolutely wrong. Specifically any bullying of Barron Trump is absolutely unacceptable. Whether your Dad happens to be President, or if you are fleeing a narco-state in fear of your life, all children deserve protection.

But here's the difference between Trump and non-Trump supporters - self-reflection: we can criticize those that share our views when they go overboard and cross the line (see my posts above and those criticizing Robert DeNiro). Those that are captured by the cult of Trump on the other hand can't dare criticize their own - how about that good ole' down home fella (and Sarah's Dad) Mike Huckabee - yesterday saying that MS-13 is Nancy Pelosi's campaign committee.....what a reasoned, intelligent thing to say...

Uh no the owners already posted a family picture all wearing pink hats, we know what they are.

Really? Enlighten us, what are they?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

More than the left did

Some on the left and the right saw Trump’s momentum while you were dismissing him as the leader of a “lunatic fringe”. Quite a few on the left and the right tipped Trump to win the election while you tipped Clinton.

Your predictions are most welcome. It’s a masterclass in what not to back.

Any World Cup tips?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Today's fun fact:

In addition to every official border crossing point, the US government has a total of TEN consulates and embassies in Mexico. Anyone can go to any of them at any time to apply for asylum, and not be separated from their children. Plus, most of them are a lot closer to Honduras/El Salvador than the Rio Grande River.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

weird that businesses don't want to serve the lying lackeys of fascism...

2 ( +6 / -4 )

If people are expected to accept a company's right to refuse to accept a customer based on who they marry and all that that represents, then they should be accepted to accept a company's right to refuse to accept a customer based on who they work and speak for, and all that that represents.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@UlsterBoy

You’re so right.

But you might like to ditch the red-hand flag.... ; )

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I do not cheer Sander being shunned because she is a Republican. I cheer she being Shunned because she is Trump's Trumpeter.

I don't cheer her being kicked out at all. While I find her a fairly distasteful human being, who supports an even more distasteful administration, doing this simply gives the right ammo about the intolerance of the left. It does not help the cause whatsoever, nor does it advance anything. It sets us back.

If we stoop to their level, then what are we criticizing?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Trump tweeted about the restaurant that he has a rule about restaurants, 'dirty on the outside, dirty on the inside'.

I feel the same about presidents.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Good.

1 ( +17 / -16 )

Haaa Nemui - thanks for posting that extremely good write-up of what happened. I'd advise anyone else interested in the story to read it.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

It's very simple: Christian bakers who refuse to bake cakes for gay couples are discriminating against them for who they are, which is utterly immoral.

A restaurant that kicks out SS is choosing not to serve her based on what she chooses to do. This is prudent and good business.

It's kind of funny to watch the right being outraged that they are being judged by the content of their character rather than by the color of their skin, but their anger over this reveals a much deeper insecurity. Their membership in the Trump cult has from the beginning been based on the assumption that they could play this little game of helping to destroy innocent people's lives, and then take off their MAGA hats in polite company and never suffer the consequences for their evil behavior. Now that stories like this are coming out, along with stories about how being a Trump staffer in DC makes it impossible to get laid, people are starting to realize their membership in this cult could actually hurt them. And that's going to be terrifying for them.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

It's just another example of the immaturity of modern society and the lack of tolerance that the left frequently displays.

Sorry mate, the left doesn't own this one. They have simply joined a party already started by the right.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Just call it plain stupid. You can’t just refuse tinserve someone because you don’t like them. Such a fine attitude by the left will put us back 50 years.

The owner asked for “honesty, and compassion, and cooperation,” but shows none. Hope she goes bankrupt.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

It is very sad that this resteraunt does not appear to know what a democracy is.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Then do that. The actions of the left have not been matching those words or concepts these days.

Spare me the left/right/Lib/Con two-dimensional lecture. The Restaurant owner may be a card-carrying Repub for all you know.

One thing I do notice here - while some of the posters that are non-Trump supporters engage in the lib/con zero-sum labeling, all the pro-Trump posters are stuck in the Faux News mind-meld where you can be pro-defense, pro-business, pro-balanced budget, but unless you swear absolute fealty to "The Donald", you're called a Lefty Liberal. The whole Liberal/Conservative narrative is nothing but a huge con game from the folks at Faux News to manipulate the weak minded to watch their network so they can make money off advertising. Every talking head on Faux News has learned the Bill O'Reilly example and is lining their pockets hawking some conspiracy-laden book on their show to those stupid enough to buy it. Faux News - we deceive, and those weak of mind believe...

1 ( +2 / -1 )

She should have protested out of sight, maybe back in her home or locker room or something.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Ex_ResToday  08:19 pm JST

It is very sad that this resteraunt does not appear to know what a democracy is.

Get a load of this guy who thinks stealing children at the border and losing them in an internment camp is consistent with democracy but throwing someone out of a private business because they do terrible stuff isn't.

That's the right wing of today: no principles, no guiding morality, just open abuse for minorities and demands for the most gentle treatment for themselves.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Eat somewhere else that's more suitable, like one of Paula Deen's restaurants.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

I politely left," Sanders tweeted on Saturday, confirming the incident.

"Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so."

Projection! She's a bigtime liar. She doesn't know to respect anyone - she's a loudmouth who always puts other people down and she doesn't know to talk or act civil or civilized with anybody. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. She needs to take her own medicine.

She is bigoted and discriminatory, like her boss. I feel some sympathy with the other members of her 'retinue' that were turned away, but then again - I wouldn't want to be associated with that ill-mannered snobby loudmouth shrew in the first place. She got her just desserts. Sow the seeds of hatred and this is what blooms.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

the restaurant broke the rule of respect,

Such a laughable argument, and such utter nonsense. "the rule of respect"! One of the most stupid things I've heard, given the behaviour of the womp-womp US Govt.

. The restaurant was polite and discreet, told her they didn't feel comfortable serving her, so SHS said she would leave. SHS then made a foul move on Twitter that opened up the restaurant to harassment.

pfft. Respect is not a word SHS cares about.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

What about what about what about what about what about what about what about what about what about?

HRC is yesterday's news. If she did wrong, she will be subject to scrutiny and various ongoing investigations.

This is about the current entitled apologist for a immoral administration. It's down to the owners/manager to serve her or not.

And she abused her position by using her WH account.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Your nastiness and insulting remarks have C O N S E Q U E N C E S !

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Two things: First, the Press Secretary could have handled the matter a bit differently. Jase Robertson (one of the sons of Phil Robertson of the DUCK DYNASTY fame, and part-owner of DUCK COMMANDER OUTDOOR FITTERS, on tee-vee) was accused of being homeless and was refused service either by an airline company or a high-end retail store (I can't remember exactly which), and he just laughed it off and went to their competitor: no publicity; no Twitter Tweet; no Facebook filler; no whining or complaining to the media machinery; he simply went to the competition and did business with them, laughing all the way.

Secondly, there used to be a day and an age where politics ended at 5pm. Even hardcore liberal House Speaker Tip O'Neill and Very Conservative President Ronald Reagan - probably the two greatest adversaries of each other politically - could, at the end of the workday, go and share a meal, or laugh about life over lunch, leaving politics in the House and Executive Buildings, respectively. There used to be informed opinion and sourced facts on both sides, which usually produced civil and respectful discourse. All of that is largely gone these days, and that's a real shame.

I agree with those who've said that this episode simply further brings down US Prestige, and that there are better things over which to argue and about which to be all public. Being asked by a narrow minded owner to leave a restaurant is about #1,245,787 in importance...

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Love the claim to refusal on "moral grounds." So it's morally upright to refuse to serve those with whom you disagree? Does the owner pose political inquiries to all prospective customers at the door to "keep it moral"?

This pathetic and hateful behavior will only serve to exasperate and heighten the divide that's being fomented by powerful media entities. In the end, such will not only hurt all of us, but will bite this business owner for such a crass and tasteless act.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

please, please, Haley next!!!!!

...it is not hatred to suggest that political issues should not be the basis for cordial hospitality.

It is however hatred to try and and pretend that stealing children from their parents, putting them in concentration camps, losing the records of who is in what family so they can't be reunited, or illegally throwing them into prison when they never committed a crime is in any way equivalent to whatever your pet political issue is.

When your political issue is causing life-long trauma to innocent children, you deserve zero cordial hospitality and I will lose zero sleep about any supporter of this brutally racist attempt at fascism getting their feelings hurt because someone said something mean to them one time.

Headline on HuffPo:

Huckabee Sanders forcibly separated from her dinner.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Democrats have never done well in the midterms, and Trump supporters are fanatics who will be out in droves to vote. I think the Republicans will be much more likely to get out there and vote come November.

I don't think it's "Trump supporters" that the Democrats should be worried about, but rather the average, relatively apolitical American voters. These are the people that are getting more and more turned off by unhinged tantrums by the Left.

The country isn't just made up of hardcore Trump supporters and hardcore Trump haters. It's mostly made up of people who are just trying to go about their lives and take care of their families. And this kind of stuff really turns them off. It doesn't necessarily make them support Trump, but it does make them vote against whomever is supported by the people who act this way.

Two years after 2016, the Democrats still don't get it. They're still trying to figure out why so many people supported Trump. They should be self-reflecting on how their own identity politics/Oppression Olympics strategy backfired. Trump didn't win because the balance tipped in his favor. He won because the balance tipped against the Democrats.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

I bet that the restaurant will now become crowded with anti-Trump left people. They are not going to lose any business.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Certainly hope all the places will be proper inspected and shut down for tiniest of violations.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Wolfpack: So how do open borders Leftists live with the guilt of enticing parents to risk the lives of their children by entrusting them to smuggling/drug cartels crossing miles of desert, exposing them to a harsh environment, rapists, abuse, hunger, and deprivation?

I once saw a guy punching a little kid. I moved in to stop him, but suddenly he said, “Don’t worry, his Mom put him in danger long before I arrived.”

And I had no choice but to back off and let him harm the little kid, I mean, he had a point.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

As Trump is making the US even more divided than before, and Sarah H-S being one of his main mouthpieces, this isn't really surprising.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5877399/President-Trump-tweets-link-images-Obama-era-family-migrant-holding-centers.html

If people are expected to accept a company's right to refuse to accept a customer based on who they marry and all that that represents, then they should be accepted (sic) to accept a company's right to refuse to accept a customer based on who they work and speak for, and all that that represents.

It appears that the Right and Left in America are beginning to come to a consensus that they should not have to tolerate people that they disagree with. Of course in the case of the wedding cake baker he was defending his first amendment rights in a case involving conflicting rights. The restaurant owner was defending her non-existent right to refuse a public accommodation. Not exactly the same thing.

Just put a sign out front so customers know whether the business owners hate them or not. Leftist corporations in America are already doing a similar thing with their blatantly political stances on policy issues.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Two injustices here.

One was targeting children for harm in order to get political concessions. The other as an affluent white female denied a spaghetti dinner as a form of protest.

You read that right. An affluent white female was denied a spaghetti dinner. In 2018. In America.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

It wasnt a private matter. She was discriminated against due to her official position, not who she is privately.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Hello "zichi", no disrespect intended, though I tend to agree with the other Posters here.

Although the Dinner may have been a Private matter, because the refusal was based purely upon Politics - the persons involved sole job, it no longer became a Private matter, but one for Public debate.

Perhaps shops and restaurants should be allowed to hang signs upon their windows - "No Republicans welcome" ?

That sort of reminds me of a time when other signs were allowed, (and a version of which, still can be to this day, seen in some places within Japan).

0 ( +3 / -3 )

She shouldn't be using her job as a platform to bring attention to something that happened in her private life. She should have gone home or to the nearest locker room to protest out of sight.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Back to Trumpet and I see he's dissing the restaurant in the pettiest way that only he can:

I always had a rule, if a restaurant is dirty on the outside, it is dirty on the inside!

Yeah and you oughtat know all about that. Is it your golden rule, Donnie?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I wonder if Sarah Sanders ordered a cake from this restaurant would they have to bake it? (Good question found online)

HRC is yesterday's news. If she did wrong, she will be subject to scrutiny and various ongoing investigations.

That woman can’t talk or say anything!

Anyway, “If?” That’s like saying “if” Steve Jobs hadn’t invented the iPhone we’d all be better off.

This is about the current entitled apologist for a immoral administration. It's down to the owners/manager to serve her or not.

But liberals were soooo adamant about a Christian baker not wanting to serve a gay couple, as a matter of fact, they called it outright racism and homophobia and that this couple had the very audacity to turn down their request, they were sued and last month after a 6 year battle, the Supreme Court ruled in this individual case that the man had the right to refuse service based on his religious convictions, only on THIS particular case, the baker wants to resume his job and guess what, he’s now getting death threats, so the moral of the story is, if you are a whiny liberal, others have to tow the line and serve or treat them it’s their birthright or else you get threatened or bullied into oblivion, but if you are a conservative liberals have every right to treat you bad or....not treat or serve you at all, accept it and shut up.

And she abused her position by using her WH account.

And least she didn’t use her personal email account. Lol

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Oh don't worry, the Trump internet army will go after the business. It happens pretty much every time someone gets in the news for crossing Trump. The death threats will start in 3...2...1.

Turns out that not only did the restaurant owner, Stephanie Wilkinson, refuse to serve a member of the public a conservative white female, but she later led an effort to stalk and scream at other members of her party when they went to a different restaurant.

It’s not the Trump supporters that are threatening her, Wilkinson and her supporters are the ones that are being overly aggressive and threateningly by stalking and threatening people whose political views are different from their own. Add to that Peter Fonda going after Melania and Trump’s son, Rep Maxine Waters rallying the far Left to go after Trump’s cabinet members and Trump supporters, the Left-wing media labeling the Trump administration as Nazi’s and fascist and you have the same dangerous conditions that led to a Left wing activist to attempt to kill Republicans practicing for the annual Congressional baseball game.

The Left are losing their collectivist minds.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Cusas; I would say that refusing to serve someone, merely based on that person's political beliefs, is the ultimate in virtue signalling. Not to mention that there were 7 others in her party, none of whom work for the government I believe.

"Utmost decorum" would be serving a person with whom you disagree and doing so graciously.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

...none of which are relevant to getting served in a restaurant, Laguna. Really, has America descended to this level of petty churlishness? It's sad quite frankly.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Pheeew, thank God, the woman is White! Imagine if she were Black and a Democrat, that restaurant would have been shut down within 24 hours.

She’s a trans-Republican.

Seriously ... maybe ... sure. Turn her away. If other folks choose not to eat there then there should be no complaints. Freedom.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

AttilathehungryToday  11:44 am JST

Would you be OK with the same treatment being given to Democrats? Kamala Harris kicked out of a restaurant for being pro-choice for example?

It shows a shocking depth of hatred for you to equivocate a political position that definitionally does no harm to people regardless of how unpleasant it is, with Trump's needlessly cruel policy that does harm to innocent living children, is economically wasteful, and doesn't even solve the problem it was meant to address. But nonetheless, a business does have the right to refuse service to a customer because of their behavior.

You can bluster all you want about how Republicans are going to win an election where the sitting GOP President is already at near record levels of support for impeachment, but the fact is that American businesses have always had this right. The fact that right-wing owners have never exercised it for political reasons tells us everything we need to know about the economic factors in play here.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

The conservatives make the quickest flip flops on the issues. Backed the baker you didn't want to make a cake for a GAY couple and now comes the flip flop on Sarah Sanders denied service or dial back to Trump when he refused to rent apartments to Blacks.

Fanning the flames a bit now........

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Trump Republicans and their acolytes are liars who make a living on the hatred and misery of others.

So then you must have deep animosity for the last administration then as well.

Disrupting dinners and 86ing. If that's what it takes to make a point.

How? She’ll just go to a different restaurant, problem solved. She walked away with grace, it’s not the only restaurant in town.

As the uber-capitalists always like to point out, it's the owner's right to chose who he does business with or not.

Oh, now it’s the owners right, but before you lefties were screaming, people can’t do that, it’s blatant discrimination if someone denies another service, because that would mean, if the person is Black, they could deny them service as well, therefore we shouldn’t discriminate against anyone, that’s what the left has been saying, so now what? Is this another selective liberal outrage again?

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

They’ll need a lot more than just luck.

Watch the predictions, Bass. You haven’t got the best track record on that score...

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

SuperLib: Is that how Trump fans live with the guilt of intentionally targeting children for political gain? “They have PlayStations

So how do open borders Leftists live with the guilt of enticing parents to risk the lives of their children by entrusting them to smuggling/drug cartels crossing miles of desert, exposing them to a harsh environment, rapists, abuse, hunger, and deprivation? I guess they just pretend that pursuing policies that encourage poor people to risk a dangerous trek through harsh conditions relying on human traffickers which can result in a multitude of tragedies and deaths is a non-existent fallacy conjured in the minds of responsible public officials. I suppose the risk to the children is worth it in order for them to win future elections. The ends always seem to justify the means.

What is also important to the Left is to deprive their political opponents of the same public accommodations they insist they be allowed. Because cognitive dissonance is their thing as-long-as their is a political benefit in it for them.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

The libs and T clowns are clashing on a restaurant issue as more important issues are coming up with the rest of the world as audience.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I think the bigger story here is conservative hypocrisy.

As oppose to selective Liberal hypocrisy?

Is that how Trump fans live with the guilt of intentionally targeting children for political gain? “They have PlayStations LOLOLOLOL!!”

Oh, so what’s the Democrats excuse? Open borders, blanket amnesty, no end to chain migration, not into the visa lottery program, a Free for all so that everyone can get in to expand to base and using it for political gain.

And besides, Sanders has a problem with obesity. She should thank the restaurant owner for refusing to contribute to her unhealthy habits.

Uhhhh....most liberals when you turn on TV have a mental problem, but nobody’s banning that.

He was just looking out for her well-being In the same way separating kids from their parents was protecting them.

But who is looking out for the Liberals mental well-being?

Of course there’s a difference between losing your kids and losing a pork chop, but still

Pork chop is too greasy, “illegal” immigration is dangerous

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Bass - the silence is deafening, per above, what do you think about this comment by Gov Huckabee?

How about that good ole' down home fella (and Sarah's Dad) Mike Huckabee - yesterday saying that MS-13 is Nancy Pelosi's campaign committee.....what a reasoned, intelligent thing to say...

And we're still waiting for you to explain this comment...

Uh no the owners already posted a family picture all wearing pink hats, we know what they are.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Karma is a dish best served to-go.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

You guys never, ever learn.

With respect, I suggest you read up on history. You'll see that prison camps, internment, demonising entire peoples is something that should have taught us all a lesson.

I wonder if Sanders will ever rue the day she signed up to be an apologist for fascism.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

tsk. My above comment became convoluted - too much accepting, not enough expecting. You know what I mean, I hope:

*then they should be expected to accept a company's right to refuse to accept a customer based on who they work and speak for, and all that that represents.*

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Would you prefer to insist eating at a place that doesn't want you (read the endless stories of what goes on behind closed doors with scorned chefs/servers)?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

After 100 plus comments, we have actually overlooked the real reason that Sanders was asked to leave. It had NOTHING to do with immigration policy or children. At first. the staff at the restaurant were upset over Trump's policy about LBGT people serving in the military. That is why they called the owner and asked for Sanders to be thrown out. After that, as usual, things got heated and hysterical and conflated.

Oh, and the restaurant staff outed themselves on social media by crowing about the situation BEFORE Sanders tweeted about it. As usual with social justice worriers, they were bursting with anxiety and desperately wanted to get some ego stroking from like minded souls.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

cucashopboy - There was no virtual signalling or tantrums, all sides exposed with the utmost decorum.

Not true, The waiters/waitresses/wait staff of the Red Hen in Lexington, Virginia had a hissy-fit (aka signaling or tantrums) over the fact that White House press secretary Sarah Sanders and her party had thought they could find hospitality and good food from a restaurant which chooses to hire bullies and drama queens to serve it's customers. The owner had to be called in to settle this pearl-clutching dilemma. At the wait staff's/hater's/bully's request, the owner requested that Sanders leave the restaurant. A waiter/bully then chose to crow about the incident on social media.

Personally, I hope the Red Hen in Lexington, Virginia goes into bankruptcy. The displaced waiters/bullys/haters can always find work at MSNBC, or the DNC.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

SuperLib - She shouldn't be using her job as a platform to bring attention to something that happened in her private life.

LOL. She didn't. It was the wait staff bullies who first used social media to brag about their own boorish behavior. Haters gotta hate. That's what they do. And then they brag about it. I hope people chose to eat at a safer, less traumatic, eating establishment.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I wonder if Sarah Sanders ordered a cake from this restaurant would they have to bake it?

Depends on whether it's a bakery or a restaurant, I'm guessing.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I do not cheer Sander being shunned because she is a Republican. I cheer she being Shunned because she is Trump's Trumpeter.

Huh? Well, that made a lot of sense.....somewhat?

Your nastiness and insulting remarks have C O N S E Q U E N C E S !

You are sooooo right. Lol

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Oh don't worry, the Trump internet army will go after the business. It happens pretty much every time someone gets in the news for crossing Trump. The death threats will start in 3...2...1.

It appears Trump fans didn't know about this.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Bad.

-2 ( +14 / -16 )

So, we have Episode 213 in "Useless Virtue Signalling". Nothing like a tiny fisted tantrum to satisfy one's delicate ego that they are Speaking Truth to Power/sarc.

Please, can there at least be one or two areas of life where politics doesn't intrude? It's unseemly and immature to demand ideological purity to get a cheese platter. Just turn the situation around and see how it sets: imagine a restaurant refuses to serve George Stephanopoulos (sp) because he was once press secretary for Pres. Clinton, who incarcerated millions of black Americans in the age of "zero tolerance". Justified?

There really is no comparison to the Masterpiece Bakery scenario. One involved artistic expression, the other a mass produced meal. Sorry, no need to conflate the two.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

AttilathehungryToday  11:24 am JST

You're just struggling to find some justification for what is prima facie rude behavior on the part of the restaurant.

I wholeheartedly endorse rude behavior toward fascists and those who support them. There is no need for external justification for rude behavior toward fascists, rude behavior toward fascists is its own justification.

Do you think it is really a good idea to drag politics into this?

Absolutely I do. If you are going to support destroying an innocent child's life because of what choices their parent made, you deserve to get embarrassed at a restaurant at a minimum. The Trump Regime has proven that legal institutions won't stop their takeover and social institutions won't stop their takeover, so the only alternative left is to fight them directly with individual social consequences.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

I can be fairly sure of one thing. The Democrats will win big in November. No no I do not think so.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Not that uncommon for restos/biz to refuse to serve 'polarising figures'.

If I were the owner of a restaurant am not sure I would enjoy being seen/associated with extremists of all kinds and take the risk of getting my biz vandalised by nuttas from the other side.

A perhaps regrettable yet imo perfectly understandable decision.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

If this had been a Democrat's female press secretary kicked out of a conservative's restaurant, we'd have countless magazine covers and front pages of newspapers 'analyzing' this as sexism, misogyny, "2018 or 1918?", conservatives are threatened by a woman given a high position, conservatives angry that a woman with children has a career and isn't staying home with the kids, you name it.

But it's the other way around so it's "speaking truth to power".

OK, got it. Best of luck in 2020, liberals.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

If one were in a restaurant and overheard a conversation one didn’t like would one (and one’s group) be justified in heckling them?

Why not? (Is civility worth defending?)

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Except that the two are unrelated, SuperLib. Don't the facts have any place in the discussion, or are we content to just resort to name calling, shaming, and hysteria?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

So you can refuse to serve someone based upon your Political bias, but if you refuse to serve someone based upon Color or Religion, then you get thrown into Jail.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

@zichi - it's no longer private when she was refused based upon her job. That should be plainly obvious even to you.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall listening to the homosexual wait staff getting triggered. Must have been hilarious.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Wonder if the Democrats (and 'zichi') would be happy if the Republicans all quit ?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Turns out that not only did the restaurant owner, Stephanie Wilkinson, refuse to serve a member of the public a conservative white female, but she later led an effort to stalk and scream at other members of her party when they went to a different restaurant.

I'd bet a dollar to a donut that this is some weird distorted perversion of reality that has been put out as a talking point by the right to try to discredit the woman.

Then they try to claim things like this:

The Left are losing their collectivist minds.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

If you're going to support policies that discriminate against my staff then it is my duty to my staff to consult with them over what to do in a situation such as this. The manager acted appropriately.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

It took 70 comments, but finally Godwin's Law was brought into the discussion. Congratulations!

It is ridiculous to compare what is happening to some (not all) of the minor children crossing into the US illegally to concentration camps. Not to mention grievously insulting to the memories of those who actually experienced such horror.

Again, the hyperbole and exaggeration does nothing to actually move the discussion along. It only provides fuel for the inevitable backlash that will be seen in November. Also sets a bad precedent for the future. I wonder if your tune will change when the shoe is on the other foot?

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

But it’s ok cause they all “deserve” it, right?

That’s the same kind of thoughts that have led to some of the worst atrocities in history. “Those people” deserve everything done to them. Gotta draw the line at some point for what is appropriate behavior.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Yeah it wasn’t the owners decision previously somehow. @Capt above is exactly right. I mean you still haven’t figured out that stuff like this is what got Trump elected? Regular people don’t like this kind of stuff the left is doing.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

The left has been on a two year tantrum since Trump surprisingly won the election. They were all so sure that Hillary would be their Queen, it still sticks in their collective throats.

Hence, any little chance that comes along to wag a finger in faux outrage is a reason to posture and preen, to "take a stand" and show their bravery in the face of fascism. Give me a break. If they ever met a real fascist they would fill their diapers. What ever happened to the party of FDR, Truman, and Kennedy?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

If this had been a Democrat's female press secretary kicked out of a conservative's restaurant, we'd have countless magazine covers and front pages of newspapers 'analyzing' this as sexism, misogyny, "2018 or 1918?",

Thank you very much.

conservatives are threatened by a woman given a high position, conservatives angry that a woman with children has a career and isn't staying home with the kids, you name it.

That just pretty much summed up the argument.

But it's the other way around so it's "speaking truth to power".

OK, got it. Best of luck in 2020, liberals.

They’ll need a lot more than just luck.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Actually, if you would like a bit of first hand information on what is really happening at the border, watch this interview from CNN. A Border Patrol agent is interviewed by Brooke Baldwin about the situation, and his answers are quite stunning:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGuSdXiFtLk

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Consequences of being the mouthpiece/defender of an administration led by a "rodeo clown"(love that description) whose plan is to MAHateA

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

I once saw a guy punching a little kid.

Non sequitur. A cheap play for emotional effect due to the lack of a logical argument to denfend an indefensible position. Open borders Dems are encouraging poor and desperate people to break America's immigration laws and risk their lives and the the lives of their children for a chance to steal a golden ticket out of their hell hole countries. There are more poor and desperate people in the world than American taxpayers to support them. There is a legal and orderly way to immigrate to every country in the world - including the ones from which these poor souls are fleeing. Meanwhile, Dems back home are denying public accommodations to those that oppose a mangling of immigration law in order to make current American immigration policy essentially open borders. I know Dems are desperate to import as many poor people from Socialist leaning countries as possible in order to vote themselves a Socialist state. But they shouldn't be doing so at the expense of children being subject to abuse and possible death making such a long hazardous journey. Where is the sympathy for the little 10 year old Guatemalan girl raped by the human traffickers her parents hired to get them across the border? (that was for cheap emotional effect).

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Katsu; leaving aside the dubious claim that abortion does no harm to anyone...

...it is not hatred to suggest that political issues should not be the basis for cordial hospitality. There is nothing to indicate that Sanders' behavior was anything but polite, so that is not an issue. It's just another example of the immaturity of modern society and the lack of tolerance that the left frequently displays. Imagine this had happened to an official in the Obama cabinet. The outrage would be huge, and rightly so.

This kind of thing is great fodder for the election, and will be a motivator for the GOP, so thanks!

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Then do that. The actions of the left have not been matching those words or concepts these days.

we have moral standards, we believe in decency and compassion. Let them wallow in their hate, fear and intolerance. Mrs Obama's words have never been more relevant - let them go low, we'll go high. .

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Get a load of this guy who thinks stealing children at the border and losing them in an internment camp is consistent with democracy but throwing someone out of a private business because they do terrible stuff isn't.

Better off than being in the blazing hot unforgiving desert sand, away from the smugglers and rapists, safe and sound, 3 meals a day, WiFi, Skype, classes. Yeah, just outright torture. Lol! The Democrats are digging deep on this one and their compadres the MSM are just making bigger fools than they already are.

That's the right wing of today: no principles, no guiding morality, just open abuse for minorities and demands for the most gentle treatment for themselves.

Wait and the left wing have what? Principles lying about Honduran little girls being snatched from their mothers, debunked, having presided over one of the worst and sluggish economies and abuse? How about the left start taking responsibility for their disastrous economical socialist programs that have decimated the Black and Brown communities? You guys really can’t say a single word or talk about principles, the left never really had them. Smh.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Watch the predictions, Bass. You haven’t got the best track record on that score...

More than the left did and the midterms. Try again, Jim. Starting to slip there a bit, homie. ROFL

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Sanders broke the ethics rules with her tweet about the restaurant.

Well, the restaurant broke the rule of respect, latest report, they’ve been getting a lot of calls and threats, I don’t agree with none of that, but what were these people thinking?

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

"SHS then made a foul move on Twitter that opened up the restaurant to harassment."

That was a brilliant move on Twitter that opened up the restaurant to well deserved criticism.

"Would you prefer to insist eating at a place that doesn't want you (read the endless stories of what goes on behind closed doors with scorned chefs/servers)?"

Nope, and neither did Sarah. Hence, she left.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

On the other hand, the Trump people are teetering on the edge of crimes against humanity.

Trump didn't create the hate and intolerance. He exposed it.

-5 ( +9 / -14 )

Katsu; now you know why the Republicans will win the midterm elections. And quite probably re-elect Trump in 2020. Congratulations.

Your definition of "fascist" probably needs some fine tuning as well. Would you be OK with the same treatment being given to Democrats? Kamala Harris kicked out of a restaurant for being pro-choice for example?

The alternative for the left is to win the battle of ideas, not the battle of cheese platters. But I guess that would take too much effort. Better to spend time on pointless gestures and petty childishness.

I also feel sorry for the staff at the restaurant. Republicans are better tippers than Democrats, so they lost the chance of a good payday.

Sarah Sanders Denied Service at the Red Hen Restaurant, Magically Doesn't Sue

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r80a6CahU7s

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

What if the person turned away was a Black Lives Matter spokesperson? Would liberals still be celebrating it?

-6 ( +10 / -16 )

@zichi: The conservatives make the quickest flip flops on the issues.

The authoritarian Left is at it again. Attacking the Christian baker for his case that went to the Supreme Court declaring that instead of balancing conflicting rights that gay rights should be placed above First amendment religious and speech rights. Now they are denying a person the right to public accommodation based on her political views. Along with their identity politics and racial attacks on those wanting a color blind country the Left are taking Americans back to a pre-1960’s era. Keep it up and that clown Trump will get re-elected with ease.

-6 ( +8 / -14 )

Katsu; your baker analogy is clearly flawed at the base. The baker was clear that he was more than happy to serve gay people anything in his shop. However, he would not make a special order to be used in a gay wedding, regardless of who requested it. A more accurate analogy would be if Sanders had requested a cheese platter shaped into the form of Trump's head, or a mashed potato sculpture in the shape of a KKK hood.

But I think you know that. You're just struggling to find some justification for what is prima facie rude behavior on the part of the restaurant. This really isn't a principle worth fighting for.

Do you think it is really a good idea to drag politics into this? Remember, right wing people tend to vote with their money too. Remember the whole Chick-fil-A fiasco...

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

It's very simple: Christian bakers who refuse to bake cakes for gay couples are discriminating against them for who they are, which is utterly immoral.

Apparently not simple enough for you. They only refused to make a wedding cake. It's also immoral to lie.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

liberals know this is wrong, which is proven by the outrage each and every time someone on their side is treated this way. Lawsuits and diversity and sensitivity training all around when that happens to them. But it happens to someone on the other side, lets justify it.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Its just getting ridiculous. chasing people out of restaurants, protesting outside their homes, doxxing ICE agents. screaming at people coming out of movies. yelling obscenities at the president on his way to the Capitol. Makes liberals seem seriously unhinged.

Of course the ex Obama ethics lawyer trying to tell us that Sanders violated multiple laws with her tweet telling what happened to her. Give it a break, man. Nobody buying that.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

pure invention on your part. Children in cages with nothing but a floor mattress and space blanket.

Which keeps them warm, by the way, they had thousands of beds as well, why the left didn’t talk about that?

Not even a toilet.

Stop listening to Maddow.

Others in tent internment camps again without any of what you claim.

Yeah, so even the leftist of the NYT debunked every single left lie that the media tried to spin about the facilities and its slowly backfiring and once again, we find the left overplayed their hand like with the Honduran girl. You guys never, ever learn.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Funny, awhile ago when the Christian baker turned away a gay couple because he felt making a marriage cake was against his religious convictions, the became unglued and specifically said, he doesn’t have the right to decline these people, it was illegal to do so, now all of a sudden with Sanders being denied service, it’s ok, they have that right, now we’re doing an about face? Pheeew, thank God, the woman is White! Imagine if she were Black and a Democrat, that restaurant would have been shut down within 24 hours.

That’s ok, thank God, she can go to other restaurants, I would be like whatever and leave. Not a problem, it’s not the only restaurant in town.

Your behavior at White House press conferences is not respectful to the reporters in the room.

And neither are the reporters towards her, as a matter of fact, I’m impressed how she can can shut these nut jobs down. Good on her.

I think the Red Hen owner treated you with a lot more respect than you show other people. Guess the Golden Rule doesn't apply to you, or your understanding of Romans 1
