He's long since completely given up caring about you or your countrymen

Can't give up doing something you never did in the first place.

the World Health Organization, by their own “best guess” scenario, has essentially admitted that COVID-19 has a comparable mortality rate to the seasonal flu.

According to the CDC, during the 2019-2020 flu season between 39 to 56 million Americans are estimated to have caught the flu, of whom between 18 to 26 million sought medical help and between 410 to 740 thousand were hospitalised. There were between 24 to 62 thousand flu-related deaths.

I don't see how that equals a 'comparable mortality rate'. Covid is accounting for 62 thousand in less than a month, and it's active all year, not just in 'flu season'.

One covid death every 30 seconds. Can anyone justify this."

Since January 2020, that's approximately 62,000,000 deaths. ( 62 million )

Hmmm.

You can’t make this stuff up. Comedy gold again.

So, while this isn’t exactly news we haven’t heard before, it’s a huge deal that the World Health Organization, by their own “best guess” scenario, has essentially admitted that COVID-19 has a comparable mortality rate to the seasonal flu.

One, a disease can be much worse than other even with comparable mortality rates, if the incidence rates are much higher for one that would still mean it is much more deadly.

Two, the mortality rate of the COVID-19 pandemic is maintained as low only after extremely expensive efforts are also keep in place. The biggest risk is that the amount of infections in an uncontrolled scenario are more than enough to swamp any health service, and that immediately increases very importantly the mortality rates, because every patient that requires hospitalization (even if not sick of COVID-19) would be unable to receive proper care.

Three, death is not the only negative repercussion from getting the disease, long term disability after recovering from the acute infection is much more common for COVID-19 than for influenza.

Four, check the seasonal flu numbers for this year, that will let you understand how different are the two diseases, comparing rates between a year with and without very heavy social distancing measures is not valid.

From October, 2020.

World Health Organization (WHO) official Dr. Mike Ryan said the group’s “best guess” estimate is that 10 percent of the world’s population, or 750 million people, have been infected by the COVID-19 virus.

Dr. Ryan sees this as a cause for alarm. “The problem is there is more than six billion left. Therein lies our problem.”

While we can all agree that the deaths caused by the Chinese virus are terrible, some simple math can put this number into perspective—something the media seems to be missing.

Worldwide, the WHO estimates 1,040,000 (rounded) have died from COVID.

So, let’s do the math:

1.04 million deaths / 750 million infections = 0.1386 percent infection fatality rate.

According to the CDC, in the 2017-2018 flu season, the seasonal flu had a mortality rate ranging from 0.129 percent to 0.1355 percent.

Back in March, the WHO estimated a 3.4 percent fatality rate for COVID-19. The health experts advising various governments worldwide used dire predictions of incredibly high death rates to justify unprecedented lockdowns. Even Dr. Anthony Fauci estimated that the fatality rate of the coronavirus was about 2 percent. “If you look at the cases that have come to the attention of the medical authorities in China, and you just do the math, the math is about 2%.”

Readers of PJ Media have known that COVID-19 likely had a mortality rate comparable to the seasonal flu since April, when an antibody test in Santa Clara County estimated a mortality rate between .09 percent and .14 percent. Basically in line with what the WHO is saying now.

By early May, there were at least five separate studies estimating a COVID-19 fatality rate of less than 1 percent, ranging from 0.06 percent to 0.72 percent.

So, while this isn’t exactly news we haven’t heard before, it’s a huge deal that the World Health Organization, by their own “best guess” scenario, has essentially admitted that COVID-19 has a comparable mortality rate to the seasonal flu.

And that’s before you even consider the possibility that COVID-19 deaths have been overcounted, or consider that the seasonal flu has a vaccine.

Actually, it's almost 100 times the death toll of 9-11 and the entire society and government of the US changed as a result. Even went to war.

By the end of next week, Covid-19 deaths in the US will exceed the total US combat deaths of WWII.

If FDR or GW Bush had called either attacks a political hoax, had downplayed the threat and mismanaged completely the aftermath using the same sophomoric, ill-equipped morons in their cabinets, they would have been tried for treason.

Trump is a traitor to the American people. Try him and lock him up.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

The current death rate is about 3,000 per day

Deaths equivalent to the death toll from 9-11 every day. The US went to war over the 9-11 attacks, but the current occupant of the White House shrugs it off as nothing. The nation has "turned the corner" and Donald Trumps supporters lap it up. We have a guy living in Japan claiming right here that everyone is doing everything right according to what the CDC tells Americans when I can tell him from close personal experience too many Americans are willfully and deliberately ignoring the advice from the CDC and the whole of the medical profession.

Numerous Dem leaders across the country are violating their own science based rules.

A non-zero amount of current Presidents are playing golf, doing nothing and ignoring science whilst almost 3000 people a day die. He's long since completely given up caring about you or your countrymen. He's not even pretending to anymore. You're just a profit center for him, a person to rinse money from before moving onto his next scam.

What a pitiful, pathetic tragedy this Trump show has become.

Hmmm.

You do understand that the rate is increasing? There weren’t 2000 deaths a day in January.

And as the numbers of deaths rise, not one word of sympathy from the leader.

Not one word of sympathy, or empathy.

It is what it is.

What a wonderful specimen of a human.

Devoid of feeling, but still caught up in his fantasy of winning the election.

Trump you are an embarrassment

Texas was already the first in reaching the milestone of 1 million Covid-19 cases

"Texas Hits 1 Million COVID-19 Cases—More Than Any Other State"

https://www.texasmonthly.com/news/texas-one-million-covid-19-cases/

It's not all bad. A couple of things going for us this time around 2nd wave:

1.) We know more about the virus and which combinations of medicine work best against it. So the severity, length of hospital stays, and death rates are not as bad as the 1st wave. (Still bad, but not as bad.)

2.) We have more ventilators now than when we were caught unprepared in the Spring with severe lack of ventilators.

Still, it's an inescapable mathematical fact that rising cases leads to rising emergencies having to go to the hospital and unfortunately rising deaths (even if the death rate is lower)

And it's an inescapable reality in physics that hospital rooms getting filled up with Covid patients means having to put off other medical operations, so unfortunate for those who would require hospital (but not life-or-death) operations

Even children's hospitals across the country are now admitting adults due to hospitals filling up

https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2020-04-10/childrens-national-hospital-prepares-to-admit-adults-for-first-time-due-to-coronavirus

Children’s National Hospital Prepares to Admit Adults for First Time Due to Coronavirus

Pediatric hospitals around the country are drafting and enacting plans aimed at boosting health care capacity during the coronavirus crisis.

And it's Christmas season - think about the patients, healthcare and frontline workers who would have to put up with this s---t again, instead of enjoying the holidays with their loved ones

So don't spread the virus - the ripple effect affects everyone, not just the people around it

It doesn’t matter if votes making Biden the next President were cast for Biden or “against Trump”. 81 million votes to cast a narcissistic sociopath out on his ear.

And the biggest (but by no means the only reason) was his utter incompetence at following the advice of every reputable public health officer resulting in the greatest public health crisis since the flu pandemic.

Trump is an utter failure.

Some Trump Republicans have LOL'd claiming it's now Biden's problem to deal with. They've actually found humor in the damage Trump's done to the US. And I'm not just referring to the troll army keyboard warriors from Moscow, Tehran, Beijing and Ankara.

A new daily high of nearly 228,000 additional confirmed COVID-19 cases was reported nationwide Friday, eclipsing the previous high mark of 217,000 cases set the day before, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

The seven-day rolling average of COVID-19 attributable deaths in the U.S. passed 2,000 for the first time since spring, rising to 2,011. Two weeks ago, the seven-day average was 1,448. There were 2,607 deaths reported in the U.S. on Friday.

But......

"That's all I hear about now. That's all I hear. Turn on television—'Covid, Covid, Covid, Covid, Covid, Covid.' A plane goes down. 500 people dead, they don't talk about it," Trump told his supporters at a campaign rally in Lumberton, North Carolina, on October 24th. "Covid, Covid, Covid, Covid.' By the way, on November 4, you won't hear about it anymore,"

Hmmmmm......

Well, to the haters, but not to the millions of people (70+ and growing) of people that can see that this is all politically driven, these people don’t blame Trump at all and more and more people are coming to the realization that the man was right all along

How can 70 million all be wrong? Quite easily apparently.

The Covid-19 figures and stats are astronomical.

So the media keeps telling us while the Dems laugh at all of this behind the backs of the people they govern.

Trump just claimed vaccinations will start next week.

The numbers of people moving to Florida have been stable and not increased.

No, increased and continue to increase

Seriously harming millions of Americans. And continuing to do even more damage to Trump's economy.

How? Trump has been pushing to keep the economy open and running for certain segments of the job market that are essentially vital to keeping the economy afloat and many of the Democrat leaders don’t want that, why is that? They follow the science (supposedly) they know younger people, healthy people snd children (don’t spread the virus) recover much faster than people wWith pre-existing medical conditions or the severe elderly, they know this and yet, they continue to keep their draconian lockdowns in place, Trump never wanted that.

Trump will be remembered as the worst US politician and president ever

Well, to the haters, but not to the millions of people (70+ and growing) of people that can see that this is all politically driven, these people don’t blame Trump at all and more and more people are coming to the realization that the man was right all along.

His fellow Republicans are also deserving of blame.

And yet, people are leaving these blue states and moving to red states where people can live, work, be safe, pay less taxes, Florida can’t even process the amount of people moving there they’re so overwhelmed with housing requests and storage facilities. I guess they get the blame for being scientifically smart and compassionate. The virus is here, it’s not going anywhere, people are learning to live with COVID and in the meantime, life goes on, but these Democrat leaders don’t want that and with each passing day, more and more people are saying, “that’s enough, I’m out of here.”

The CDC is predicting 3000 American deaths per day by the middle of this month and 4000 deaths per day by the end of this month.

I shudder at what January will bring.

This is an historic disaster.

@Burning Bush

Obamacare was supposed to keep the healthcare system stable, yet it's collapsing all over America.

The healthcare system is broken and needs to be revamped

Where is trump's beautiful healthcare plan? Oh, that is right. He abandoned the US people after being voted out of office for poorly handling the pandemic. His mismanagement is related to the 250,000 deaths in the US.

Oh, it’s all Obama’s fault. I see.

But trump was going to replace Obamacare 4 years ago, it was going to be the simplest thing to do, so easy. He had a plan and everything, and the senate, and he was president. I wonder what happened, maybe he’s still fine tuning the details.

Promises made, promises forgotten.

Reading some of the comments made by American's on other pages is head-shaking to say the least.

The common response that I read, "Oh it's no biggie! Over 98% recover! It's all a hoax!"

And there is no way to convince them otherwise....even as many die, with their last words being, "I dont have COVID!, I can't die!

Oh, and the other comment, "less than 007% (or something like that) of the population die from it, So?"

Is only said by keyboard commandos who have not been affected! Those "non-believers" change their story right quick when they or a loved one gets sick and dies!

(On another note, I find it incredibly hard to believe that Trump actually caught COVID, and recovered as fast as he did, special meds or not! )

ACA was about all anyone could get out of a Congress and a population that equates any kind of government involvement in health care with borderline communism. A single payer system like every other developed nation in the world has is still beyond the grasp of Americans who are not well enough educated regarding the many problems with the current insurance based healthcare system in the US.

As for the Covid related problems, this is caused by the commercial interest in minimizing overhead by reducing capacity to the bare minimum necessary for routine conditions. There is zero excess capacity for surges in hospitalizations caused by a pandemic. That problem is not confined to the US either. Healthcare is expensive everywhere and every nation tries to streamline it to eliminate inefficiencies. Unfortunately that has left most nations with no way to absorb a doubling or more of hospitalizations as we are seeing now.

It is a big mystery how anyone who is an adult and claims to be alright upstairs can still continue to believe and support this good-for-nothing . Con man with an IQ of a 9 year old.

If I was an American, there is no way I will address the fool as a "president" wake up tweet, watch tv, have breakfast, tweet watch tv, play golf, watch tv, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet. Total waste of space and oxygen,
