China has reported no new locally-transmitted coronavirus infections since Aug. 16

Who believes this?

Good for each country to refocus on its domestic market. As for the time being, the old models are gone. Those that can adapt will survive. Everything has changed, but turning change into an opportunity will be reserved for the next generation of high performers. The entire economy is in massive reset mode.

Go local people. Local produce, local destinations, local community and regional based efforts. This will be the way forward. Thinking caps on.

While they remain out of Japan, the tourist sites here are pleasantly clean and uncrowded. Perfect time to use a GoToTravel subsidy!

Yeah, don't come to Japan, it's not like we need your money or anything... oh, wait

This pandemic worked out well for the Chinese economy but no one else.

I call BS!

No new locally-tranmitted Coronavirus infections in China? The CCP is still lying to the whole world. No shame and no credibility. They are still in denial.

Good news for everyone, No new viruses coming our way and China economy will get back on track, it's a win win situation.

Outrageous. The commies still have plenty of Yuan for luxuries like fancy travel, yet the rest of the world can only dream of holidays. Seems like things are ticking along nicely in Communist China which is sickening.

OK, to make it clear, China is to blame for the virus spreading, but the rest of the world has to blame itself for making their economy too big while almost killing all own economies at the same time. What once was fairly cheap is now increasingly rather expensive. Compare it with daylong headaches after your enjoying party until early morning, you surely have made once such an experience....lol

Uh, we don't need their money actually.

A win for China because it will help revive their economy. And IF there is another outbreak it will be much easier for the Chinese government to track as well

Yeah, no reported cases in the midst of a global pandemic?

Haha, China. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Who believes this?

Yeah, you can say that again. Except for the Chinese when they’re obviously being forced to say it, who does believe this?

Fighto!

Outrageous. The commies still have plenty of Yuan for luxuries like fancy travel, yet the rest of the world can only dream of holidays. Seems like things are ticking along nicely in Communist China which is sickening.

That's merely a reflection of how other (read, western) countries have handled the pandemic and how their citizens refuse to believe there is a real pandemic. Not one minute do I believe the stats coming out from China, just like Russia or indeed any other country with dictators, like USA, but there is no way China can hide a pandemic. China is no longer closed like North Korea. Word gets out quickly. The world laughed, felt repulsed, and physically abused anyone looking Chinese or Asian when Wuhan was in a strict lockdown and China had to deal with this on its own. Now we see people in Wuhan going about their business and having a party during 中秋節・国慶節. Who's laughing now?

Actually, if you understand that Covid19 infection rates drop severely with universal mask use and quick detection followed by quick and thorough contact tracing and isolation, the span of days without a domestic infection seems very believable because of the ubiquity of mask use, the mandatory testing of at risk individuals, and the mandatory contact tracing app on Chinese cell phones.

And I won't be surprised to see Cuba becoming a tourist destination for China before the end of the epidemic because the government there has instituted a policy that effectively means your two week isolation is at the tourist resorts that can be physically isolated, with the staff doing a month of work, two weeks as staff, then two weeks of quarantine, at a time, with everyone having to have clean tests before arrival.

Not perfect, but low risk.

I am guessing this is either a fabrication or they are already being immunised, it would not have been impossible to have immunized nearly everyone in china with a vaccine during the application of other medication in the year leading up to the pandemic. Although this would imply that China deliberately released the virus. If that is the case then expect a vaccine and medicine to alleviate symptoms from China soon $$$

Japan will beg China for its tourists. huge hotels here are empty since march 2020.
