I can't believe McD's wasn't even among the runners-up.

George Clooney is the man to trade places with for a week? Heck, what about Beyonce's boyfriend? I'd rather trade places with him.

McD's seems to belong to the world more than it does just America anymore. Though I agree, it's strange that it's not up as far as some of the others. I'm not surprised by Wal-mart winning...

I would NOT trade places with Obama. Ever. The people who choose Clooney were smart, haha.

there is no way Clooney beat out Obama. Impossible. Wal-Mart? I've never really lived in a city where they were the big guy.

Where I lived in America, everbody shopped there, even the people who hated everything it stood for, haha. And Wal-mart has a reputation in the U.S., both good and bad.

"there is no way Cloonet beat out Obama"

I can't resist...

Yes, way!

Clooney.

Never lived in a city where Wal-Mart was the big guy? Where the heck do you live (or have lived)? Maybe not in America!

Obama has set a time table for a troop pullout in Iraq by 2011.

But, but, but .... 0bama pledged on his Web site during the campaign that troops would be out of Iraq within 16 months of taking office. That would be May of next year.

Just words, just speeches.

"Half the respondents of a new poll say taxing the richest Americans by at least 50% is a great idea"

That's Socialism.

Time for Republicans to flee screaming for the hills. :-)

Think about it. I've seen many of my female students swoon at the mere mention of his name...

Never lived in a city where Wal-Mart was the big guy? Where the heck do you live (or have lived)? Maybe not in America!" Please tell me where in New York City, I lived in Queens and Manhattan, is Wal-Mart? I don't count NJ nor LI because I hardly ever drove. Tell me where is one in Miami as I originally from there; again, within PT distance. And then find me Wal-Mart in Chicago, the real Chicago.

Now, let's get off this low class crap and start talking about Armani.

"there is no way Cloonet beat out Obama" I can't resist... Yes, way!" Sarge, I can't resist. At least Obama can pass for a Latino....

I can't believe Walmart beat out ACORN.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not surprised at all about Wal-Mart. Based in small town in rural area and now largest retailer in USA. Another e.g. of dreaming big rooted in USA psyche.

I can't believe Walmart beat out ACORN." OMG, that's got me laughing and crying..... see, I've given to ACORN in the past. I feel like a sucker now.

Walmart is bad for America! Cloony, c'mon. I'm tired of actors being praised... waiters one day, millionairs the next.

I think people are confusing whom it is they like with wanting to trade places. Well, okay... Clooney I can see, but no one in their right mind would want all the headaches Obama inherited and has to deal with.

Not surprised Walmart won.

Not surprised Walmart won." A win for Walmart is a win for China!

Half the respondents of a new poll say taxing the richest Americans by at least 50% is a great idea When you get down to it, most people are socialists. The term has been demonised so they don't identify themselves as such, but break socialism down to its base policies, ask people if they agree or not and you'll find that most people qualify as lefties.

The Clooney fans need to see this is what I think. He can't compare with Obama's awesomeness. http://vimeo.com/6747788

When you get down to it, most people are socialists. The term has been demonised so they don't identify themselves as such, but break socialism down to its base policies, ask people if they agree or not and you'll find that most people qualify as lefties.

Thats a falsity and you know it. Socialism is not merely the taxation of the upper class. It's government control of the factors of production and their distribution among industries. Most Americans are unequivocally against that.

People wanting to tax the rich is not so much a desire for economic/social equality as it is an angry populace wanting to 'stick it' to the people they feel responcible for their current sad situation. That in itself is not socialistic in nature, which is supposed to be a genuine desire for people to be equal in terms of property, capital, and other economic means.

I would rather allow people be left to their own devices with absolutly no help whatsoever. In Detroit there are a whole lot of people that would rather collect welfare than activly look for a job because nobody is willing to pay them what they were making before being laid off. That's just lazyness and I find it despicable.

Heck, when I got fired from my firm I made a call to the man I worked for in college and played the reposession game for a few months until I got a job similar to the one I lost, albeit not as well paying as my origional one.

A politician taking bribes is considered by far the greater sin (chosen by 37% of the respondents) when stacked against extramarital affairs (just 2%).

Huh...considering how much more coverage extramarital affairs get over the taking of bribes in the media I'm actually kind of surprised at that one.

Clooney is more liberal than Obama . . . the country is just running away from the failed republican agenda and the angry haters who lead the effort.

Sarge, you do not want to tangle with JayZ. Remember what happened to the Notorius Big.

"Wal-Mart"

I hear when the President of China was visiting a Wal-Mart, he turned to the manager of the store and asked "Don't you have anything not made in China?"

“respondents chose Wal-Mart as the institution that best symbolizes America today”

Wal-Mart, always known for being cheap and nasty & now known as the “institution that best symbolizes America”. Now doesn’t that say a great deal about Americans today?

Now if you think the rest of the world had a downer on the US before, think how bad that is going to get when Wal-Mart really get into overseas expansion?

Clooney! Walmart!

It's Vanity Fair survey, not that anyone here is much interested in keeping a little perspective...
