Very smart move by Israel, since there is no urgency to build the settlement, and lets the US figure out where they stand on this matter, as the US does not have a firm policy still due to being overwhelmed with international and domestic matters.

In the end, Israel will decide to what is best for itself, which is its right as the only peaceful democracy in the Middle East.

Whether Trump won reelection is 'contentious'.

These violations of the Geneva Conventions as part of a Crime Against Humanity are unquestionably ILLEGAL, IMMORAL and that the Israeli regime claims to be doing things like this in the name of Judaism is antiSemitic.

Plans for the settlement called for building 9,000 housing units marketed to ultra-Orthodox Jews in an open area next to three densely populated Palestinian communities, one of which is behind Israel’s controversial separation barrier.

Really, did anyone think that's a powder keg

Israel won that land fair and square and can do whatever it wants with it.

Stop the ethnic cleansing. Quit treating the locals there like trash.

Not under the terms of the Geneva Conventions. Occupied lands taken in the course of a war must be returned to the nation from which they were taken. The occupying power may not impose a civil administration upon an occupied population and cannot require the occupied population to profess any kind of loyalty to the occupying nation. Study the Geneva Conventions and understand what the laws regarding warfare and occupied lands are. Israel has no legal authority over any territory lying outside of the UN sanctioned borders that existed in 1967 before the 1967 war. The Gaza Strip, West Bank and East Jerusalem are all occupied by Israel in violation of multiple international laws as defined by the Geneva Conventions.

Do you really believe this?

Then tell that to Jordan, which occupied East Jerusalem in 1948.

Was that a violation of the Geneva Convention?

Israel merely re-unified Jerusalem in 1967.

Study the Geneva Conventions and understand what the laws regarding warfare and occupied lands are.

Study what the term occupied means first. It means foreign control over land that was under the previous sovereignty of another state. With the West Bank, there was no previous legitimate sovereignty because Jordan had illegally occupied that region(you're still against occupation?).

Funny--from 1948 through 1967 the Palestinian Arabs never demanded Jordan end its occupation, and never demanded to create a Palestinian state. In fact, neither Jerusalem nor the West Bank has ever been under Palestinian Arab sovereignty.

So, back to your Geneva Conventions. Article 49 does not apply. Why? Looking back at the above, it is because there never was any sovereignty over the West Bank by Jordan or the Palestinian Arabs.

Besides, when armies attack a country, and the defending country is forced to control certain lands of the attacking army, there isn't much sympathy for the aggressor, is there?

Unless of course the defender is Israel.

Anti-semitism dies hard.

Which side was it that launched a missile war for 2 or 3 weeks or so without regards to Gazan or even Israeli lives? Nutty Yahoo was just trying that as a diversion to save his political career and it failed. Who is the 'problem child' now? Walls are no answer.
