Huh? Mask or no mask you sneeze into your elbow. You sneeze into your mask that's a done mask

“This mask says, 'I respect the essential workers who get up every day and drive the bus, or drive the train, or deliver the food, or keep the lights on so I can stay home and I can stay safe.'

Brilliantly put.

There's a lot of disrespect out there.

When you have a not so smart President and a spineless VP, there's no surprise that other idiots will follow suit.

7 ( +17 / -10 )

Places that wear masks: East and SE Asia (virus controlled and infections low)

Places that don't wear masks: USA and Europe and other failed states (hundreds of thousands dead with bodies in the streets in Europe and both on the verge of collapse with armed protesters in USA)

I really wish we had better education and more critical thinking and common sense back in our home countries, what an historic embarrassment..

Definitely feel safer here where people still follow the rules somewhat.

"When you have a not so smart President and a spineless VP, there's no surprise that other idiots will follow suit."

Most people in NYC did not vote for Trump and are polar opposites. This is just a failure on the part of NYC residents who feel wearing a mask is somehow taking away their unique presence in this world and they will be asking for federal $$$ soon enough. It is complete and utter foolishness.

News headlines of people of authority who are shouted at, spit on, beaten, or even shot because they asked people out in public to put on a mask also confirms my opinion.

It’s an honor to do my part and wear a mask to protect others, not an infringement on my liberty. I can actually have a role in solving this—how cool is that?

Scorning face masks means you scorn other people and don't care who you might kill be unknowingly spreading the virus you didn't know you had. Love your neighbor, wear a mask.

I wear a mask when I should (on the train, when near others, at work) and I do not wear it...when I go for runs where I won’t be next to many others, when I’m cycling, in a vehicle, etc.

Common sense

The Avenger

BINGO! It's that simple really and when your thought process doesn't follow that then you do what YOU want and make that decision regardless of how it may or may not affect others around you, thus being SELFISH.

Most people in NYC did not vote for Trump and are polar opposites.

Many people in NY were masks, but there are many others who don't.

Irrespective of who voted for them, the leaders of a country should set standards for their countrymen.

Unfortunately here both the President and VP has been found seriously lacking.

President Donald Trump has eschewed wearing a mask in public, though on Monday, the White House ordered anyone visiting the West Wing to wear one after some staff were infected with the virus.

Trump's web site has an error page that's quite funny.

so who determines the standards of a country, if not the voters? It basically why we vote, to determine which person will lead our nation and what the agenda will be.

Irrespective of who voted for them, the leaders of a country should set standards for their countrymen

Besides, he said, “It’s like a car accident, God forbid, or a lightning bolt. If God wants you to have it, you’ll have it. If God doesn’t want you to have it, you won’t have it.”

What if the other person doesn't believe in the same God as you?

You're then imposing your God on that other person

“This mask says, ‘I respect the nurses and the doctors who killed themselves through this virus to save other people,’" he said. “This mask says, 'I respect the essential workers who get up every day and drive the bus, or drive the train, or deliver the food, or keep the lights on so I can stay home and I can stay safe.' And that is a statement that we should all be willing to make any day, but especially in the middle of this.”

This.

They're working extra days and longer hours, wearing those uncomfortably sweaty but necessary "astronaut" suits that take forever to put on/off and doesn't make it easy relieving yourself or even just eating (some healthcare workers have foregone eating or going to the restroom at all during their whole shift); all vacations are cancelled; risking not only their health but also the health of their loved ones around them (many even keep themselves physically away from their loved ones for days or weeks at a time)

The essential workers are the ones who have to pay for even more people getting sick

And yet many people don't consider that when they're deciding whether to take the risk or not - they're only considering the risk to themselves, but not the considerations of those who have to take care of them if they do get sick

(Maybe they should consider putting into their wills: not requiring essential workers to have them on the priority list. You take the risk alone; the essential workers shouldn't have to take the risk with you - they're already stretched thin with patients who didn't take the risk but became sick anyway)

I’m out on the street, I’m biking along alone. It's difficult to breathe, why would I wear a mask?

Funny, all the posters who were adamantly telling us that mask were unecessary and useless are quiet now.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Well here in Tokyo , just a look is ok . Anybody not wearing a mask gets a look from me ..It seems to make them feel, look guilty so I will keep doing it .

Trump's web site has an error page that's quite funny.

Petty and childish, not funny.

Typical Trump.

I'd like to think that many of them are convinced by now

Who were those posters? Funny, I never saw them.

Yep. bad advice.

"There's no reason to be walking around with a mask," infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci told 60 Minutes.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Yep again.

For healthy people, both the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend they wear masks only when taking care of those who are sick or suspected of having the virus.

Irrespective of who voted for them, the leaders of a country should set standards for their countrymen.

In that case, who’s the Democrats’ nominee going to be?

The Joke is on them. Doctors have said masks are ineffective in preventing you from catching the virus.

Sadly, this doesn't fit the narrative that world citizens are strictly adhering to social distancing, stay at home, and face mask wearing orders as compared to Japan.

Anyways masks are useless. Reopen the economy.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

If wearing masks is stupid, why do doctors, nurses and almost everyone in hospitals wear masks?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Confusion: One day says yes, next day not. One person says yes, another says not.

Convincing Leader-Ship is Non-Existent in The States.

some of you need to join these people in New York, and Europe or where ever you came from.

This is not just a New York problem, California has the same issue, unless these idiots family dies , these people will not wear anything,

good for them, so my family won't see these idiots in grocery markets since they all require face covers.

I think it's time for the US to split into two countries. Both side would be happier being around people like themselves. Reasonable folks on one side and fools on the other.

Go to the side that fits your idea of reasonable and stay away from the side that fits your idea of fools.

Why did you link to an article that is not only two months out of date, but which also says on the very first line, "Update: On Friday, April 3, President Trump announced that the CDC now recommends Americans wear a "basic cloth or fabric mask" in public."?

Once more, you guys would be better able to make coherent arguments if you actually read the things you link to.

Reporting from here in South Cal, can say that most people are using a mask, but a large minority are not. I wonder if people who refuse to take common sense precautions are less likely to pass on their genes.

I have been using the same N95 mask for over a month. Whenever I get back home I spray it liberally with hydrogen peroxide, then hang it up to dry. It is getting a bit dirty, but still seems usable. Have also been using H2O2 as a hand sanitizer before re-entering the car, and after unloading the car. It is cheap, available, and from what I have read, effective.
