Knox said the president should make clear to his supporters that violence against reporters is unacceptable.

Agree. Maybe if Trump would stop attacking the 'media' (which in his and his supporter's dialect does NOT include Fox'news' (and the other outlets run by Rupert Murdoch & clan), Sinclair Media, American Media, Inc. (National Enquirer, etc.), Breitbart, infowars, RT (and the other media outlets including blogs and youtubes run by Putin and his oligarchs), and the numerous other far right and ultranationalist outlets that rarely if ever question Trump and his reactionary policies, some of Trump's supporters might not resort to violence against media.

Fair warning : a MAGA hat often indicates a vacancy in the space beneath it.

El Paso violence by a deplorable in a MAGA hat - Trump's America on display.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said the president "condemns all acts of violence against any individual or group of people — including members of the press."

You know, maybe I'm going senile now that I've hit 40, but wasn't Trump the guy who said he'd like to 'knock the crap outta him?' when speaking of an opponent? Didn't he 'joke' that he'd pay the legal fees of any supporter who punched one of his enemies?

I mean, the list goes on and on.

So how can anyone be surprised at this point?

the crowd "had been whipped up into a frenzy against the media" by the president and other speakers.

History can and does NOT repeat itself. Right? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_Hall_Putsch

Trump backers can call 'Godwin's Law', can say 'it was ANTIFA or a leftist in disguise' all they want, can say 'there are good guys on both sides', but in doing so without renouncing their own side's violence are accepting their own side's failures.

All sides must stop all violence. Trump needs to be a leader in cooling tensions, not throw fuel on fires like a despot, or a pond scum level internet troll.

Someone was “shoved” let’s not be overly dramatic here.

And the Democrats in Washington have just an empty space without the hats. Lol

Look, if liberals can wear a t-shirt that defies and says “Not my President” and wear it proudly, you can do the same and wear a MAGA shirt or hat proudly, I do.

Really? Antifa attacks, saying racist and outrageous things about Jews, attacking people for wearing MAGA clothing, following people to their homes, confronting politicians in restaurants, harassing their family and kids, attacking people for the color of their skin. Sorry, the Dems are are the ones that need to seriously tone it down and scream and shout less, less physical attacks on people they don’t like and to be more tolerant and stop pretending they hold the moral ground on anything, let alone racism or violence. Let them show leadership as they CLAIM to be the party of tolerance.

Those in the press area said there was no security there and none intervened during the attack. It was a blogger who restrained the assailant.

Trumpophiles acting repugnantly?! What a shocker. Wake me when there is real news like Trump being honest and his boot-lickers regaining their integrity.

Not surprising. Didn't Mr Trump call the certain media "the enemy of the people"?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner - just look at history - this is what you get when a demogogue preaches fear and anger to his flock - unhinged violence.

Not surprising. Didn't Mr Trump call the certain media "the enemy of the people"?

Absolutely true - words right out of the mouth of any dictator or tyrant...

And it no doubt will get worse - MAGA - Make Any Gun Available...

Look how original Trump is:

It's supposed to be a peaceful rally, not a metal concert, not an aggressive event. Trying to belittle it shows your lack of interest for the safety of American people. Or are you trying to say that Trump rallies are places only welcome for those in red hats? Others may be harmed?

Yes, Trump creates a frenzy that encourages outbursts at the media, but it was one guy. Let's not blame everyone for one idiot's actions.

This was one loose cannon. Note he was also stopped by another Trump fan. Regardless... Trump detractors (anyone who'd vote Democrat) need not look far to see that they have lost the moral high ground.

Yes, Trump creates a frenzy that encourages outbursts at the media,

And rightly so

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Violence is never the answer. But neither is 90% negative news coverage of the president 24/7. Why? Because they’re still very upset about losing the election in 2016. Period!

How come the ever-vigilant MSM has not yet identified the guy who attacked one of their own?

The lying press has spent the previous two years slandering President Trump and now they want to play the victim card over a manufactured event? Puhleeeze.

Heh, I love that you were unable to see your failure in logic in trying to turn this around on the MSM.

I suppose I'll have to spell it though: If he wasn't identified, then how do you know he was one of their own?

There was a brief scuffle on a press platform away from the stage on Monday night, when a man began shoving members of the news media and was restrained.

A person at a political rally shoved another person. This is a big news story? No wonder most people distrust the press.

Some journalist got their feelings hurt - thats it. Maybe if they stopped focusing on themselves and reported the news dispassionately they may regain their reputations back. One only needs to watch MSNBC, CNN, or the networks news to see they are openly hostile towards non-urban elitist sensibilities. Fake News is a real thing - from all sides. Everyone has an agenda and no one plays it straight. Their millions of viewers seem to like it that way but they do a disservice to the general public. Money talks - objective journalism is at a low ebb.

On the video, he didn't even try to break loose from the guy restraining him and escape. But the real tell that this was a manufactured crisis is media didn't press charges. It was all poorly executed kabuki theater co-sponsored by the "resistance" movement and Fake News.

Just look at how the Trumpers here are trying to minimize and victim-blame this assault on a member of the free press. He was attacked by a MAGA-wearing nut whipped up by The Fasicst-in-Chief's inflamed, hate-filled rhetoric..."enemy of the people" in perfect communist-speak...

But have a couple Liberals stare at the Homeland Security Chief while she's having dinner and it's a national security emergency - an ANTIFA attack...LOL...

Hypocrisy just doesn't register with them...

Texas: It was all poorly executed kabuki theater co-sponsored by the "resistance" movement and Fake News.

Nah, it was just a Trump fan lashing out at a journalist.

Yes, Trump creates a frenzy that encourages outbursts at the media,

So you’re saying the media can’t control themselves, says a lot about them. Maybe they shouldn’t enter the profession.

That you would blame a BBC cameraman for standing there, doing his job filming a campaign rally, and in doing so he gets attacked for no reason at all says a lot about your hyper partisanship.

bass4funk - So you’re saying the media can’t control themselves, says a lot about them. Maybe they shouldn’t enter the profession.

I believe those "can't control themselves" types are the people who are being recruited, and promoted, by many media outlets. One part dramatic acting ability, one part politically acceptable ideology, and one part hive-mindset make for a useful tool to influence, or confuse, the public.

Heh, the Trumpet's new claim: If the victim doesn't press charges, it's ethically A-OK!

Talk about morally decrepit.

You're half right! It was actually a right-wing deep-state qanon fake-news bubble false flag to make it look like the left wing media had hired a plant to make the right look bad.

It's a conspiracy within a conspiracy!
