Whale that killed its trainer won't be isolated

Glad the whale will not be euthanised.

I can't believe that they would treat this animal like it hasn't done anything. I understand that trainers weren't allowed to work in the water with Tilly, but Tilly grabbed her out of water and dragged her in.

This Orca definitely got off alot easier than most animals both domestic and wild that happen to kill humans.

A wild animal is a wild animal, in other words it doesn’t understand criminal law and so, without mens rea it cannot be held accountable for its actions. So thankfully no stupid human punishment. But then when you think about this whale was captured when it was two years old and has been in “prison” for 28 years for no crime whatsoever.

They're named " Killer Whales " for a reason, I ebet the spectators will remember that show for the rest of thei lives.

You play with fire, you will get burnt. Orcas are huge powerful animals capable of killing pretty much every other creature in the ocean. Ever seen a orca "playing" with a seal, thats what they do, Cats like todo it with mice, Orcas do it with seals. No one gets in the water and amuses Tilikunm anymore so he dragged someone in to "play" with him. He was bored by the sounds and he probably didnt want to hurt the trainer but a massive powerful creature like that doesnt even need to use 2% of its power and you are done. Sorry to hear a person has died though in a totally preventable death.

SeaWorld is a big business, they are not go to do or say anything that will put their business at risk. Procedures will be "reviewed", a few cosmetic changes will be made, and it will then go back to business as usual. That's the plan anyways, I'm sure.

Totally agreed on this; she knew the risks, and she chose to take them. That's fine, really, that's how she wanted to live her life. Anyone who works with dangerous animals must make this choice.

As for the whale... You can't really "blame" the animal, but this is the third time this particular Orca has been "involved" in a fatal incident. If they are not going to isolate it, or put it down, they should release it back into the wild. If they do not, well, you may be reading a similar story on JT a few years from now.

How do you assess what steps are necessary for the mental health of an animal that has been kept for 28 years in what amounts to a bathtub?

Triumvere, I don't think its fair to blame the whale for the death of a guy who climbed the fence at night to get to the orcas. I call that a suicide. And if we read about any more deaths involving this orca it won't a kid in a stroller on the street. It will be someone who made the choice of getting close to an enormous predator locked in a confined space, same with every person who died near this orca. They all tempt fate by choice, and if fate gets them, I wish them a nice funeral and that's it.

The deceased's family is saying she had the "job of her dreams". What about the Orca's version of this job? When the show was over, the trainer was free to go, to do whatever she wanted, while the poor thing would stay another endless day inside that aquarium. I am sorry for her and her family, but it really irritates me how we human beings make other animals suffer for our abnormal sadistic pleasure!
