The only choice internationally is whether Peking is going to do something stupid.

This is not much different to when Putin said there would be a war if Hillary won. It’s election interference, although not much can be done about this kind, except making the public aware of it.

Taiwan is part of China according to the 1972 US - China communiques, this established the One China Policy which is still respected and supposedly adhered to by the US and most of the world. However the US has not adhered by to the agreement by continuing to arm Taiwan, interfering in Taiwan politics and establishing what is actually a de-facto embassy in Taiwan. If it all goes south from here, you now know who to blame.

What China means is that it could be a choice between Taiwan's unconditional surrender or war.

Could the stakes get any higher?

With global Middle East chaos building, Ukraine on the brink and Biden Admin and most western leaders politically collapsing in approval ratings....

Above 'context' fits Bejing's Taiwan agenda well; they'd naturally prefer their guy to win today, the Hong Kong model, but if US can't even manage two existing military fronts with sufficient ammunition, then you do the math.

Your statement doesn't include the word "acknowledge", so it is completely factually wrong.

Stopping armament of Taiwan was conditional on peaceful reunification. Since we are as far from that as the most distant star, the arms continue.

If it all goes south from here, you now know who to blame.

Yup, Xinnie the Pooh.

The math says you haven't seen WW3 but we will if Xi touches that hot coal!!!

Poker game, but Xi's called weak impaired Biden bluff.

WWIII over Taiwan = Emotional Insanity, and it'll never happen, not even within realm of possibility.

Above happening due to Biden Admin's terrible track record, it's price of lousy leadership, Xi's no dummy, Biden the gift that keeps on giving, just ask Putin.

@hopeSE: t's price of lousy leadership

Many of the problems the US faces today are the price of having a US opposition group which is led by a deranged, corrupt, failed politician that is beholden to foreign authoritarian leaders and willing to cede control of the US to them.

always warms my heart when supporters of the most authoritarian nations and those opposed to the corrupt western governments and their lying media talk about approval ratings they’ve read about from western sources.

I know, right! Approval split multiple ways is naturally going to be a smaller number than mandated approval for the Dear Leader. Let's not get things twisted, authoritarian fanbois.

Not only that. It also shows how selective they can be when choosing what news to believe.

HopeSpringsEternal - If you guys are able to conquer Taiwan, is that the end of your territorial ambitions, or did you have other territory in mind?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

and what do you do about the people living there if they don't want to be a part of China?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Would they need to be re-educated in order to de-program the Western propaganda from them? Say in a pastoral, camp-like setting?

Pissing and moaning again. Wah wah wah. Hey Xi, why don't you just can it?! Taiwan is and has been its own nation since 1949. It is not part of China and is of no concern to you. Hands off! MYOB.
