The elite thumbing their noses at their own rules?

The GOP know their base. They know it's mostly low income Americans, including Black people, Natives and Hispanics that have been hit the hardest.
The GOP 'elite' know few in the hardest hit communities vote Republican.
The GOP under Trump are doing whatever they can to further divide the country along wealth and ethnic lines.

These people are living in a fantasy world, and are allowing this virus to thrive and morph, putting the entire world at risk of something bigger and more dangerous. Now, the virus affects younger people, and the reports of people being infected q second time are beginning to grow.
How old are these kids?!

I'm reminded of Washington's famous quote delivered at his second inauguration in 1793: "Fellow citizens, I exhort you to be vigilant when preserving this country and its institutions, for in about 223 years, a lying, self-dealing, ignorant, anti-democratic, narcissist fool will run for office and send this glorious country to **** in the course of 4 short years."

The Republican Party has not been the party of Lincoln within the memory of anyone living today. It became a hypocritical caricature and today the GOP has become de-based further as the Gaslighting Orangemen's Party. Not April but November will now be the cruellest month: a Donkey Trifecta!

Hahahahahahah!!!!!

Just like their thinking is from a bygone era. Hopefully, voters will realize their error and say by and be gone to these fools in November.

Interesting how countries with supposed "strong men' like the US, Russia, Brazil and the Philippines are all doing the worst with the virus. These people seem to think they can bend anything and anyone to their will to the detriment of the people they are meant to be "leading". A little more humility might take these "leaders" a little further....

Considering how many of the top Republicans are in a high risk category should they come into contact with Covid-19 one has to question their basic judgement and fitness to lead. Of course it would be poetic justice if their convention turned out to be a super spreader event and a few of them became really really sick. One high risk individual in particular comes to mind.

It is getting to the point where one could argue the Republican party is more culpable for the suffering of the Americans than the miserable Chinese Communist Party. Both are guilty of the same basic sins, covering up and minimizing the problem and deflecting blame so they would not look bad politically.

The stupids convention will have people acting stupidly.
No surprise!!!

Of course, Trump and the rest of the GOP won't practice what they preach. They are of the mantra "Do as I say, not as I do" and their fan base will blindly follow that rule.
I think hypocrisy and dishonesty go hand-in-hand. For instance, Trump and Pence claims Biden's America will be frightening and what Biden says is full of lies. Yet, Pence himself has recently been caught in a huge lie when saying that left-wing protesters were responsible for the death of a federal officer in the May protests for George Floyd. Pence deliberately hid the fact that it was a right-winger, Steven Carrillo (a member of the boogaloo group) that gunned him down. Yet, Trump and Pence will twist any fact to suit their narrative.

So why do these people attack and destroy their own communities? It was the left that cut the legs off of the police, that’s on them.
Since the Dems and Biden won’t condemn them, That’s the Democrat undoing and stupidity for allowing this and it helps Trump.
No, democrats are the one that continue to use the race card in that continue to divide the nation, they don’t want to talk and don’t want peace, this is the reason why they have been silent on these rioters.

Interesting argument. I'd like to hear more like this.

The key word is largely. Other key words from the article are bolded below. It's not a black and white assertion by AP. This is not propaganda. This is not Sean Hannity or Tucker Carlson.
*Few** convention speakers have made reference to the virus; others have discussed it in the past tense.*

The majority of people get tested daily because they’re around the President. What do you think about protesters not wearing masks or practicing social distancing?
Yes, let’s please!

many countries have $1000 fines and even arrest. Police can film the White House lawn event, and arrest them. To enter the WH they need ID, so processing can be quick.
pass emergency laws now.

I think its a nice distraction topic for liberals. Anytime RNC says something uplifting or positive or hopeful, you and your media go off screaming about masks to try to drown out the message.

When trump gives his speech 'scaring the hell out of people' do remember that such speeches were common in Germany of the 1930s!!
Look where they ended up!!!

Dead people walking.
Between this and the Sturgis gathering, death rates in America are set to jump next month. This is basic science.
Trump's failure of leadership has killed 180,000 Americans (and STILL rising), yet people still support him. They are beyond the pale. They are a death cult.

There has been a serious panicky if not paranoiac mood during the Republican convention. Participants conveniently forget about wearing masks for they appear blur. Would they regret if some of them will be tested positive later?

And speaking tonight, Rudy Giuliani...
"Good evening, I'm Rudy Guiliani, and I'd like to say a few words....
First, as a lawyer, I have to tell you that I'm currently under federal investigation on 8 criminal charges associated with my work in Ukraine...
Also, I'm deep into Alzheimer's so please excuse my twitching eyes and my lapses of memory...
Now the topic of my speech - law and order...
Donald Trump is totally innocent of any corruption....and of course he's guilty of corruption"...
bass4funk
They don’t get near the President, so no worries.
No, it’s relevant. Dems hoop and holler that people around Trump don’t wear masks, but when liberals riot, loot and protest it’s somehow ok not to wear a mask not a single liberal media outlet condemns it. So without deflection, answer the question! What do you think of protesters and rioters not wearing masks or not practicing social distancing? Is the virus a smart virus that only attacks conservatives but spares liberals?
Blacklabel
Yet strangely, I didnt hear any of what you posted as quotes when Giuliani spoke.
lincolnman
Hmmmm....according to you, protesters not wearing masks are being pro-American, since you've said repeatedly that wearing a mask is "Anti-American"....just like Trump....
Of course, Trump has also said wearing a mask is "patriotic", so I guess all those in the crowd and on the stage with no mask proved they don't love their country...

You do know that the chances of dying from Covid are actually quite low, right? Even if you catch it.
