Fox has a valid point in this continuing argument. Most of the programming objectionable to the Obama administration is editorial programming, rather than news programming. While these programs are formatted as news programs, anyone capable of analysis would recognize the comments and materials as expressing personal opinion. The last time I looked that aspect of freedom of speech is still protected under the US constitution. While I do not agree with Fox's commentaries, they are well within their rights to forward them. I would suggest that the administration limit appearances by non-policy makers to true news programs and vigorously pursue misrepresentations made in those news casts if any should appear - and that applies to any station, not just to Fox. Policy makers should appear on editorial shows to provide balance against ill-informed or intentionally skewed opinion on major issues (assuming there is balamce to be had of course). In response to accusations made by some posters against our neighbors to the north, Fox News was never banned by Canada. Fox News Canada was granted licenses/permission to commence broadcasting by the Canadian RTC on both Dec 14, 2000 and Nov 18, 2004. In both instances, Fox announced its intention not to implement the Fox News Canada service. Fox news is carried on major Canadian cable services, though Shaw has allowed subscribers to opt out of Fox in favor of other channels in response to remarks made by Fox personnel concerning Canadian troops deployed overseas. This is a matter of public record and could have been checked by anyone of intelligence and integrity.

Sad, very sad. Fox News has news reporting and opinion programming, just like all other U.S. news channels. Unfortunately, the far left wants to minimize Fox by labeling it so. But, that's what the left does. We on the right are used to it, and just ignore them as they should be. Obama's policies have been explored by Fox, which many in the U.S. want. Obama doesn't like this, so he plays his typical chicago-thug style politics. As I said, sad, very sad.

drugs limbaugh would not fit into anyones head, and not in most bodies either other than a few sumo guys.

It so reassuring that the wingers focus on issues so small and petty that no one really cares about the issues or the republicans as a whole. That is why the party is falling apart and has been for the last few years leaderless and basically totally lost.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Looks like ACORN was the trigger that set Obama off.

NY TIMES (Oct 22, Politics page) reports:

“By the following weekend, officials at the White House had decided that if anything, it was time to take the relationship to an even more confrontational level. The spur: Executives at other news organizations, including The New York Times, had publicly said that their newsrooms had not been fast enough in following stories that Fox News, to the administration’s chagrin, had been heavily covering through the summer and early fall — namely, past statements and affiliations of the White House adviser Van Jones that ultimately led to his resignation and questions surrounding the community activist group ACORN,”

Adding insult to injury, it looks like El Rushbo is on the money when he says he is "living rent-free in Obama's head" because the man's vanity is just too powerful a force on him.

As with every issue that the wingers pose they have absolutely nothing to back it up. Cleary fox news is simply a propaganda agent for the republican party. Which is embarassing for any honest conservative who does not want to mix with angry loser teabagger crowd. That is why only 20% of Americans now identify with the failing republican party.

The only thing you can count on with fox news it that it will be a lie. Same can be said of bush republicans in general. Yes, those WMD in Iraq will soon be found.

I like what Jay Leno has to say abut Fox News:

"At least they HAVE a point-of-view!"

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is news. A lot of emotionalism on FoxNews. But just for laughs. In jokes there is a bit of truth. I am glad the other news media stood up for FoxNews, for it is a sign of a healthy democracy, a free press. Lamar Alexander was right to advise the administration not to make an enemy list like Nixon did. FoxNews was the first to warn us about Van Jones and the ACORN scandals.

cooperstown: "Zurcronium. People here say you are Canadian. Judging from your posts I have to agree."

I see your newest handle still hasn't changed the fact that you can't stop trying to undermine people's arguments by insinuating their nationality means they can have no valid opinion on American topics. Well, once again you prove that non-Americans at the very least have more valid and open-minded arguments than you do; but hey, this comes from a Canadian so I guess we know you'll simply deny the facts (and when it comes from an American you'll assume they are from somewhere else). Bye-bye credibility... again!

That Fox News is called non-news is news to no one but fools. Fox's motivation is sales, and sales alone -- they make wars into video games, and twist and skew statistics and facts like they were going out of style. Not surprising people like cooperstown jump up in their defense.

good ol' foxy tending to the sheep.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It's difficult to comment on US television networks, since I live in Japan.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Is that the view from Canada, Mr Zurcronium? It was my understanding FOX so terrified the powers that be in Canada that they had it banned.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Something like 80 companies have dropped their paying for ads on the racist glen beck fox program. Fox is linking into the angry retired loser crowd and that is driving the numbers. Too bad for fox that no one cares about those people and supporting racism on TV.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The Stimulus has worked, heh heh heh:

"This year, the Fox News Channel will post the highest ratings in its 13-year history."

Mission Accomplished, Mr President.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Shocking facts:

Opinions are for sale. The media is not balanced and never has been.
0 ( +0 / -0 )

Zurcronium. People here say you are Canadian. Judging from your posts I have to agree. But Fox was banned in Canada. So where did you form these opinions about Fox? In Japan? You actually pay for FOX?

There is no liberal mainstream media

I would argue that. In my honest opinion most news networks appear to be biased to one side or another and the vast majority tend to lean left. MSNBC is the most apparent but even CNN has started to shred what neutrality it had (I still like Wolf and Anderson though). It's few and far inbetween when any news organization other than FOX allows a group to get a word in edgewise whether it be on climate change, healthcare, government spending, or tobacco legislation. At least FOX allows some debate on their programming (I'm looking at you Rick Sanchez).

If I had to put the lot of them in brackets I'd lump FOX and MSNBC in the same crazy lot, CNN and ABC in a slightly more moderate group, BBC in high standing, and Reuters wins flat out in terms of objective reporting (with a few noteable exceptions). However, they are all news sources whether or not (in the case of MSNBC for instance) I agree with their sentiments. The White House should have stayed out of this mess and the President has got to learn to keep his staff quiet.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is not news, this is well known. Fox news is just an extra arm of the far right wing fringe. The White House pegged it, far right, why fight facts. Accept it and let's move on to some more fun facts.

Fun fact,

When Glenn Beck had an operation and went through a very bad experience with the American health care industry. Back then he believed that the system was broken and needed to get fixed.

But now almost 2 years later good ole Glenn thinks we have the best healthcare in the whole wide world....

Hmmm I wonder what cha-ching.....errr I meant I wonder what changed his mind?LOL

Glenn Beck, the best sellout money can buy!!!LOL

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

There is no liberal mainstream media, we all know that. The wingers just like to feel like they are victims. Which they are ironically, of fox news.

If want to divide fox news from the rest of the mainstream media, use insane for fox and sane for the rest. Not liberal or conservative, that is a joke.

I will tell you what really frosts me. Math errors.

Fox news constantly makes math errors when reporting inflation, unemployment, the deficit, service on the US national debt. I find the errors often. I think that far over half are distortions because they always favor whatever talking head that happens to be on whatever show. They do not report error for polls, either.

I have caught them fudging by adding zeroes, moving decimal points, reporting deficit/debt together, changing scales on graphs, etc. What is sad to me is that I know that Fox watchers are generally befuddled by numbers, which makes that strategy so cynical. People who watch Fox live in a world of fear that is never explained to them. Then the raw data are skewed. Fox commentators shout and them and deride them for not understanding.

When you come to understand that the people doing this are the paid tools of an Australian who is not a Christian, it is hard to explain it as patriotism. It is mind control.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Cooperstown, I was saying you made a fair assessment. How can you complain about that?

I didn't say Can/Euros are more discerning, I said they were less dimwitted. That Fox broadcasts what it does is explained by the profit motive. That people believe it can only be explained by stupidity.

And Bilbo, "If not for fox news, wed only have liberal media." has never been true. It is what Fox tells you though. Do you know the difference between what is true and what Fox tells you?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If not for fox news, wed only have liberal media. Then no one would question what the government does. That would not be good for anyone, lib or conservative.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So many words from Klein2 needed to tell the forum he regards Canadians/Europeans as more discerning, less gullible when it comes to interpreting news and politics.

Whatever.

I am sure he also regards America as way, way more litigious; which raises a question: if Fox is libelous and transparently false why is it the swiftboat 'victim' Kerry never challenged them? It's not as if a lawsuit would have made a significant subtraction from the hundreds of millions of dollars he and his wife have between them. And yet the swift boat vets might well have cost him the election...

Why doesn't the Obama administration try and sue Fox for posting videos and recordings outing Van Jones as a 9-11 'truther' and an avowed Marxist, or of White House communications director Anita Dunn prasing the mass murderer Mao Tse Tung before a group of high school kids?? Could it be because, well, in a court of law things like FACTS and PROOF actually count for something...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"The foreign commentary here can't explain Fox's astounding success without insulting America as a whole"

That is a fair assessment. I can't explain Fox's success without believing that the US has more than its share of gullible, dimwitted people. I guess Helen is giving Fox the benefit of the doubt. I won't make that mistake. I have been there and done that. By the way, just because Nixon was paranoid doesn't mean he was wrong in his assessment of what the media did to him.

I do not see any lack of free speech in Canada and Europe, but I see far fewer claims of "freedom of speech" there. Sometimes, to claim something is to hold it up to question. If you don't know what that means, then let me just say that Americans abuse free speech to celebrate it, Canadians and Europeans just accept free speech as a premise and get on with the discussion.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Get the point?"

Americans (unlike all the foreign contributors here) know that the ratings do not lie.

Fox has the Democrat-Media complex in panic mode.

It's a quagmire.

Even old Helen Thomas has chided Obama for going after Fox and is calling him worse than Nixon (!).

They have lost Helen! heh heh heh.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Cooperstown,

the american community, the sane part, also blasts fox news. Fox news is not america, far from it.

WWE is not a sport but many losers think it is. And its popular. Get the point?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The foreign commentary here can't explain Fox's astounding success without insulting America as a whole. Is it the lack of free speech in Canada and Europe that makes the network so fascinating?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I've got a few friends from the Mormon church, before I was excommunicated. A lot of the liberal Mormons are really getting upset with Glenn Beck within the LDS church. He continues to spout trash that is not within the doctrine of Christianity and forgiveness. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

GJ puts in in perspective. Rupert M is PT Barnum. And he is going after the suckers.

I seem to remember when Fox started in the late 1980s that NOBODY thought it could succeed. But after the Simpsons, the X files, and the rest, it came to afford its own news productions, and now it makes money the old fashioned way, like the New York Post and the National Enquirer. Point being that it has popped up in 20 years. That is not tradition or a proper fourth estate, it is business. Fox is to news what twinkies are to nutrition.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Glen Beck is seriously psychotic. Saw him for 10 seconds and it made my skin crawl. How anyone can handle his scaremongering and fallacies of logic over many hours defies the universe itself.

It is a channel or a show? News is supposed to be about facts, not making news for yourself. Thus Murdo News is in a conflict of interest from the get go.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Conversely Americans don't speak French, so they can pronounce it as the exact same sound but spell it as Faux News instead. Gives a heads-up of what to expect, as if anyone already didn't know

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How dare they report on crooked things going on in Obama's favorite little group, ACORN. The nerve!

Romeo romeo, you couldn't prove the point better if you tried. Overweight black women in t-shirts sitting around in community centers might be news in Uncle Rupert's fantasy land, but in the real world they are just overweight black women in t-shirts sitting around in community centers.

But then the real news would be, as they say in Japan, "muzukashii", and wouldn't put as much coin in Uncle Rupert's pocket.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

fox news is a comedy show, I have never seen a man or women of color hosting the show. What a racist oragnization.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

ca1ic0cat,

I do not recall PBS going soft as well but remember they were under attack for most of the bush administration as being too liberal, which means being objective to the bush people.

There is a groundswell now to have all democrats refuse to be on Fox News of any sort. MoveOn has noted that fox showed the teabagger townhalls 22 times against Obama and showed townhalls that supported Obama zero times. Democrats should not support such biased programming. The little minds that follow fox want only to see their fake heros win on TV. So let your congressman know to not go on fox news. Link to turnofffox.com or go to moveon.org to find out more.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How dare Fox News vet the czars when Obama obviously don't want them vetted. How dare they report on crooked things going on in Obama's favorite little group, ACORN. The nerve!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Panic! Axelrod and Emmanuel will just have to force the NEA to get out even more pro-Obama propaganda, on the public's dime of course.

I smile, I laugh to think what the Democrat Party and the establishment infotainment/entertainment racket is going to do in the not-too-distant future when film-making,finance and distribution is no longer controlled by a handful of deeply partisan Democrat sympathizers in Hollyweird and New York, a scenario I think this administration overlooked in their deliberate sabotage of the US economy.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sarge:

" "Fox News is not news" But CNN is, LOL. "

....and MSNBC is the White House favourite "news" station, as the admitted themselves. Need one comment?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Shocking news that, Fox News is not news. The little Aussie battlaa Uncle Rupert spotted a market and saw a way to throw a few more shrimp on the barbie and tinnies in the eskie. If the USA had a large number of free-loving, nude polygamist vegans you would get a lot of stories on the evils of cheese and monogamy too. And Glenn Beck would do his show in the raw. But keep handing over your Yankee-pesos if it makes you happy.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wolfpack

who are actually in his administration for people to realize just how much of an ideologue Obama actually is.

So that makes Obama different then any other president that came into office? They all come in with some agenda.

So we all know the ideologueing that the republicans are screaming at. They are so upset only because it doesn't follow the agenda that their party wants.

The last president's ideology was unjustified wars as long as cheney's people got no-bid contracts. bush's was also to give away the country's wealth to the 1% of the population and have the middle class re-inburse the treasury. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I wonder how many more crazies like Anita Dunn who are either associates of President Obama or who are actually in his administration for people to realize just how much of an ideologue Obama actually is. Obama follows in the footsteps of another community organizer by the name of Saul Alinsky - another socialist ideologue - but with the added benefit that he is President of the US. Anita Dunn has stated that her favorite political philosophers are Mother Teresa and Mao Tse Tung - say what? Mao killed and murdered millions of his fellow Chinese, multitudes more than Mother Teresa was able to help during her many decades of selfless personal sacrifice. So Dunn actually admires Mao - a man that outdid another terrible 20th Century murderer whose name shall not be spoken (hint: his name begins with 'H' and was famous for making the trains run on time). Her political thinking is more than a little twisted so it is not much of a stretch that she would be taking the lead in Obama's attack on the press.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Bias in the media in the US pretty much started once George III couldn't have you thrown in the tower and longer and continued until after WWII when consolidation of companies brought Gannett to the fore and the three TV networks got the market share of the people who couldn't read. That pretty much carried on until AM radio went looking for a new format in the 1980s (FM had taken over most music) and then the web came on line. Now we're back to where we were in the 1800s. And the powers that be don't like it because they can't control everything again. It's interesting to note that the response is to tear a page from George III's book and start talking about restricting media to what suits whomever is in power. Facism in it's rawest form.

It's interesting to note that this goes hand-in-glove with that other thing that is so obvious on this board - a lack of civility. As soon as one of you says "stupid conservatives" or "idiot Obama" I give up on you. That drivel is no way to convince people that you have a clue, let alone a reasoned arguement.

And yeah, zurcronium, I remember that before Bush invaded Iraq the local PBS station had a week long two hour a night show justifying the invasion. I couldn't believe it but I watched the whole thing thinking "if PBS is going to take this approach there must be some truth to it!" I'll bet they wish they had that one back.

tigermoth,

agreed that the media today is spineless and basically useless. Look at how all forms of media jumped on the shock and awe bandwagon to justify a huge lie. It was incredible. The Post and the NYT included. But the difference with fox is that they design their programming to lie and deceive in order to carry out the aims of karl rove and his band of criminals.

There is bad journalism and then there is vile journalism that does not even pretend to be professional. If they have to say over and over again they are fair and balanced you know they are not. Go to turnofffox.com for more information.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I should add that real news journalism - right or left leaning - died in the 1970's. Now every network is more concerned if those spouting their stupidity are good looking rather than whether or not they're bright. And real, unbiased news coverage? Are you kidding? Why cover real and important news when we can spend 6 months talking about Michael Jackson, and apparently another talking about some idiot who claimed his kid was in a home-made balloon. Have you ever counted the spelling errors and grammatical mistakes in your average printed stories these days? If they cannot spell, do you think they care about accurate and unbiased reporting?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

claims by the president’s inner circle that the cable television network is a Republican mouthpiece whose programming “is geared toward making money.”

Ummm - here's a newsflash (and not from Fox) - they're all (they meaning every newspaper and network) geared towards making money. Why else would they exist these days - just to desiminate information? Maybe in 1776, or from the Weather Underground - but not today, and not a major network.

Well no one ever accused conservatives of being smart. Fox is catering for a market. A stupid market but a lucrative one none the less.

An unfair, unproven and rather stupid generalization I should think, and counterproductive to your point. While there are certainly many gap-toothed flag waving, gun toting hillbillies that love Fox news and are indeed conservative, there are just as many dull liberals as well. If it were possible to study the gene pools of both and measure a collective IQ, I'm betting it would just about balance out. Although most of you on here are dyed in the wool liberals with holier-than-thou complexes if you were genuinely honest you would have to admit that Charles Krauthammer is a genius, and while only one example it's a good case in point.

Doesn't anyone think it rather odd that the Whitehouse/Administration seems so damning and concerned with press coverage and the slant going their way? They pitched a real b*tch about the press not taking their slant with the whole healthcare issue, the President chooses only those in the media friendly to his cause to ask questions at briefings and news conferences, etc. etc. He's a smart man, and supposedly has the plan - what is he afraid of? Why not go on Fox news and make them look like the fools so many of you seem to think that they are?

And Zucronium; I've heard your Canadian. I'm just curious - and mods I know this is off topic - but why are you so fascinated and vitrious when it comes to American politics? I couldn't name five people in your current administration and - no offense - could care less. I suppose it's the idea that America is the lynch-pin for so much of world happenings. But in truth I think that if everyone was as passionate about making their own systems work as they are telling us all that's wrong with ours, the rest of the world would run much smoother and we could stay out of everyone's business.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

how the wingers spin fox as legit, and scam the rest of the media. Wolfpack the NYT fully supported the invasion of Iraq and hired a republican hack working for Rove to make up stories to support the war crimes of the bush administration. So much for your boohoo cry me a river fantasy of the liberal media. The US media is corporate and is way right. That is a simple fact.

For those are that not knee deep up in Roger Ailes propaganda media, he use to work for nixon back in the day, you can go to turnofffox.com to be a part of a movement to free the US from the lies and insanity that is glen beck and hannity. Hated and/or fox news is not good for the soul.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is an interesting twist. For the better part of the last decade FOX was the Gospel According to The G O P, and now, suddenly they're not credible. Yet, and I find this most amusing, FOX reported this gem on December 26 2001, and nobody from the White House on down took any notice. And it really could have saved everyone a whole lotta grief! Maybe everyone was hung over from too much brandy sauce the day before? Especially POTUS?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,41576,00.html So whaddiyaknow! They knew OBL was dead before they got everyone into this mess! Just imagine had they caught this snippet, how different things would be? How many more people would be alive and well Stateside, not to mention in Iraq? Gotta hand it to FOX, on this occasion they got it right but nobody noticed!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It's not enough to say fox news is not "news." Especially when fox lawyers argue that fox newscasters have 1st amendment right protection to lie or deliberately distort news reports on public airwaves.

fox "news" personalities are like tele-evangalists. There's a special place in hell reserved for each and every one of them.

White House advisers say Fox News is not news

Obama's White House is afraid of Fox News and feel the need to marginalize it because it refuses to conform in a goose-step manner like the other TV networks and print media.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It has been proved by Fox News that independent surveys show it to be the most unbiased of all networks.

I guess those White House advisers and Liberals who disagree with Fox News only do so because they cannot comprehend the high level of debate and information on the channel. Fox News makes other news outlets look like kids shows, and Obama and his buddies know it!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

CNN, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, and ABC have all been an arm of the Liberal establishment for decades. When talk-radio began to offer an alternative viewpoint, the Left tried to shut them down with the first iteration of the fairness doctrine (which was done away with in the 1980's). Liberals hate opposition to their Leftist propaganda. But there is a huge audience that has not been served by the Leftist mantra from liberal operatives like Anita Dunn, George Stephanopolous, Keith Oberman, and that guy with the tingle that goes up his leg everytime he sees or hears President Obama.

Fox is only one channel that is right of center. All of the others are to Left. But the thing that surprised me is that conservatives are a minority of the viewers of Fox News. The majority are either moderates or Liberal. This suggests that most viewers listen to different channels to get their news. Fox has the largest number of overall viewers because they are different from the same unified Liberal message that the other networks provide to the public. They cover stories that they Left leaning networks do not.

President Obama is displaying the same thin-skinned paranoia that was a hallmark of the Nixon administration. His attacks on Fox News only provide the network greater legitimacy among those that oppose Obama's political agenda.

If Fox News isn't considered a news outlet by Liberals, then Convervatives will feel that they have a legitimate right to feel that way about CNN, MSNBC, etc. Just because Obama doesn't like the news from Fox doesn't give the government he controls the right to stifle the press and free speech. Everytime his administration attacks Fox he lends credence to what guys like Hannity and Beck are saying about him. It's a no win situation to go after the press. Republicans know this because they have had to deal with this environment for decades.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Turn off fox news, save a mind from being destroyed.

Heh, aren't global liberals the ones who're supposed to be all for freedom of the press?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A bit bizarre to say the least. FOX is a news outlet, just a blatantly biased one.

And rupêrt murdoch is a bigger crank than all of his viewers/readers combined.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Skipper,

transparent, open and mentally challenged hatred and lies do not make for any rational discussion. Obama gets critiqued plenty on the non-propaganda sources. Like outfits that do not create the pathetic teabaggers and then report on them as fake news.

Turn off fox news, save a mind from being destroyed.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Obama stated many times that he wants to be challenged, open, and transparency.... What happened to all that?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Fox News is not news"

But CNN is, LOL.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Obama's is just angry because Fox doesn't sell his stuff in their gift store:

http://www.nbcuniversalstore.com/detail.php?p=77544

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It's all a bit juvenile.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I like to add one more thing. It was Fox that reported ACORN. I'm pissed. I have given a lot to ACORN over the years. I never even really knew much about them. Just send a check to a certain part of ACORN is all did. thanks to Fox, I now know I'm a sucker! The other networks, which I read as soon as I get to work each day, didn't report anything on it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They have already said that MSNBC is the preferred network of the current White House.

Now THAT is respectable journalism!

(groan)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Fox is usually pathetic, maybe the worse of the bunch, but they do let an occasional gem slip by.

Kinda like your incorrect, but extremely amusing gem that Fox News owned Al Jazeera! LOL!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"If liberalism is so great for Americans then why is Fox News #1 in viewer ratings? You'd think the alphabet networks would be fighting it out to lead the pack."

I'm guessing because there's only one "conservative" newschannel, but 3-4 "liberal" ones...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If liberalism is so great for Americans then why is Fox News #1 in viewer ratings? You'd think the alphabet networks would be fighting it out to lead the pack.

Obama and his F-Troop would do well to embrace Fox News since that is where the viewers are.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@seijichuuso9sha: FYI Fox has a higher audience view than CNN and MSNBC combined. Also, Glenn Beck states on virtually every program that his is not a news program -- its just his opinion.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Props to White House communications director Anita Dunn. She had the courage to openly praise Mao Tse Tung a few years ago while addressing a high school audience. Of course now wingers like Glen Beck and the rest of the Faux News crowd are trying to say she is "another commie" in Obama's White House".Whatever. I dont watch their news but I am sure they are getting stomped in the ratings.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh have been uncontrolable since Obama got elected. And Hannity's show has been renamed the Obama Bashing Show by his listeners." Yeah, but at least Obama is man enough to take it. He's not making the complaint, Axlerod is. Still Fox is watched by a lot of people and Fox does have several Spanish language outlets. This is a bad move on the admin's part especially the timing as Tatanka states. To me, it makes them weak, real weak.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If Fox news is not news, why are we reading a news article about them?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I could respect it if I thought that they were accurate. They aren't. They make simple math errors and produce glaring distortions. They alter images. They purport, assert and claim. It just does not pass muster in terms of professionalism.

I could hope for it if they were sincere. Even if they were a bunch of college kids a la Wayne's World, I would give them the benefit of the doubt in some cases, but it is also pretty plain that they just don't care.

I could just call it entertainment if they took themselves as seriously as Weekly World News, with Ed Anger and Bat Boy. Like pro wrestling, I can appreciate some art in the performance same as the next guy.

But Fox News is a collection of loud, cynical bunglers trying to lower the bar in any way they can. They make money, but so what? Anybody can do that if they are willing to rip people off.

FOX is definitely not news, it is little more than a mouthpiece of Australia's most infamous export, benevolent Uncle Rupert, a man who has made his fortune by catering to the shallow end of the gene pool.

Anita Dunn praised Mao as a great philosopher -- FOX News exposes her (and Van Jones) then the White House response is "hey, they are not really a news organization"

And in other news, the sky is blue. I thought everyone already knew FOX was biased, haha.

White House advisers say Fox News is not news

None of them are.

Fox is usually pathetic, maybe the worse of the bunch, but they do let an occasional gem slip by.

There will always be a FOXNews network.

I remember the run up to the george bush Memorial War in Iraq. george bush was a god to FOXNews.

Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh have been uncontrolable since Obama got elected. And Hannity's show has been renamed the Obama Bashing Show by his listeners. < :-)

Last week, White House communications director Anita Dunn said Fox News operates “almost as either the research arm or the communications arm of the Republican Party.” On Sunday, Rahm Emanuel, President Barack Obama’s chief of staff, said, “It is not a news organization so much as it has a perspective.”

This is a stupid mistake on their part. What could they possibly have to gain from getting into a media war with Fox News? Fox was already the villain. If anything, more people will watch Fox news now if they haven't already, and in the end they'll probably decide that it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. Some people were probably walking around believing the absurd hyperboles from people like zurc....why give Fox the chance to change their minds?

They've given Fox fame, ratings, and cash, and they've opened up Pandora's Box by giving the other side the chance to say that Obama doesn't support free speech. Fox can only win and Obama can only lose. What a stupid mistake to make.

for those that agree with Axlerod, are you in favor of the admin of shutting them down, which seems to be in line with the fairness doctrine and the new head of the FCC?

If Obama doesn't want to go on Fox, that's his decision, but I am sure Fox is not some little local news outlet, so he may miss out on getting word to a lot of people. it would really be better to go on live and debate what ever it is that they said of him.

Rupert Murdoch. Love his stuff. Like a father to me.

"White House advisers say Fox News is not news"

Ha ha, Republicans, conservatives and Rush Limpbough-types will be SHOCKED by this news. :-)

I've never been a fan of any "one" particular news org. I haven't been able to watch Fox in a long time. I do however have a few commentators that I like to hear, and Geraldo Rivera being one of them, and he's on Fox.

If the admin is going to go after a news org because they don't like what they report, what's the next step - closing it down? That is very scary.

Obama has been spoiled with nothing but good news on CNN, NBC, and CNN. I'd like to hear/see both sides and be allowed to make my own decision. for example, my brother went to the recent protest in DC, just to check it out. When CNN reported that it was small, his photos proved them wrong. ABC and NBC both reported it was small too. But I did go to Fox's page and they were closer to the mark.

Now, I really want to watch Fox news if not for any other reason than this Axlrod. Who is he to say what is news and what is not? As far as I am concerned he's another Karl Rove.

He shrugged off News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch’s remark to shareholders last Friday that since the White House began criticizing Fox News commentators their ratings have risen.

The White House should know there's no such thing as bad publicity. They're only fanning the flames, ensuring Fox News will continue their drivel.

Instead of denouncing Fox News, they were better off recommending respectable organizations they consider news. Personally, CNN and Al Jazeera-English are the best.

Well no one ever accused conservatives of being smart. Fox is catering for a market. A stupid market but a lucrative one none the less.

I only watch the news on local state stuff, I'm not really into any specific news network. ABC, NBC, CNN, BBC, CCB, RnB... I made the last two up :p.

The government can't pull their license, just say their discontent.

Numerous studies point out that regular fox news followers are less informed that those that get their news elsewhere. Why? Because fox news does not report the truth, they report only what rove and his criminal band of loonies want it to report. For example fox will often switch the party label of some congressman who is found guilty of sex crimes or whatever from the real tag republican to democrat. Its happened often enough now to see its a strategy.

Turn off fox news whereever you go, its garbage and will make you turn stupid or republican.

I completely agree with David Axelrod's description of Fox news, and am proud that someone in the White House spoke on the record about the bile that is spewed by Fox television under the false name of "news".

Unfortunately, as Mr. Murdoch controls a large percentage of US and international media companies, I can only assume that this story will be spread with a Fox-like spin to it in order to fatten Murdoch's already too-fat bank accounts.

It is pathetic how desperate the White House has become. Anita Dunn is married to lawyer Robert Bauer, who tried to get the Department of Justice to prosecute conservative critics and punish TV stations for running an ad critical of Obama’s relationship with Weather Underground Bill Ayers.

It is comforting to know that, in the White House, they don't have monitors tuned to that brain-rotting trash.

All 'news' pushes a point of view. The person who writes the story has a point of view. The person who reads or listens to that story has a point of view. Not every single person is going to be 100% happy.

Fox news is biased, like other news network. "White House advisers say Fox News is not news" is not news.

some14some: freedom of speech. can't avoid noise.

If so, cancel the license of Fox News and offer free therapy to its listeners.
