He wants to open the economy over the advice of the scientists so it's better to keep him away from them anyway. Now he can spend his full time trying to spin this for his reelection.

Oh, stop! Even Dr. Fauci said, certain parts of the job industries can and should re-open. Even in my once beautiful home state of California you have being trying to defy the orders of lockdown and want an end to this and this is coming from liberals. Again, this all helps Trump. Hope Newsom is listening.

Prove it.

Where is Mueller and what happened to the impeachment farce? He’s still the President, there you go. Failed twice.

You said 32% was more than half - prove it.

No, I said, ANY incumbent President that has an approval rating OVER 40% in an election year is in a very good position to win re-election. However, that is NEVER good for any challenger trying to oust an incumbent.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Yet, Trump did sell false hopes to many American people

Trump took a bunch of weaklings and capitalized on their need for a leader who would attack liberals for them. They had enough sand kicked in their face and Donald came along, recognized their weaknesses, and preyed on them.

Seems to me you have to be a Clinton fan to be demented enough to drink aquarium cleaner or inject yourself with toilet desinfectant.

Or you'd have to be Donald Trump to propose it.

Look, Trump gave it the old college try, but he's just not cut out to be a leader in front of cameras during this crisis. It's good that his people convinced him to step away since it was hurting his image. He needed to go.

He wants to open the economy over the advice of the scientists so it's better to keep him away from them anyway. Now he can spend his full time trying to spin this for his reelection.

Who in their right mind think that in the midst of a pandemic that has claimed the lives of thousands of people, is the right time for sarcasm? Oh, that's right, Trump is not in his right mind. As such, we shouldn't trust anything he says about either this virus or the economy because whatever actions he will take, is only to further his own interests and to stoke his own ego.

By the way, according to Merriam Webster Dictionary, the word 'sarcasm' means "a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain,”. So in that sense, Trump wanted to cause Americans pain. What kind of president wishes pain upon their own people?

The guy is a bumbling idiot who speaks before he thinks and who tells lies as part of his nature. He is shallow and utterly incapable of rational thought. He might be able to sell refrigerators to eskimos, but this ability is not what is needed now.

Americans voted and chose this?

@Bertiewooster,

I am not too sure if Trump could sell refrigerators to the eskimos. Yet, Trump did sell false hopes to many American people and that many of these people have died because of his lack of leadership, common sense, and basic human empathy.

The House aiming for Trump pivot from virus to economy

The two are linked. The economy is being destroyed right now because of the virus measures. Without a functioning economy, we all die.

Trump is of course more comfortable talking about an economy than about a virus, while his political opponents are happy when he is deprived of a good economy to brag about. What they don´t understand is that they will suffer too. Of course, with industrial-sized fridges full o

Deflection. They are not trying to become president.

Deflection! Worse, they’re trying everything in their power by any means necessary to get rid of him. This is what desperation does to liberals.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Trump supporters are bouncing like a deflated beach ball.

They're like the Black Knight on his last leg.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

As we've seen over the past several months, the Trump supporters here are really in a funk.

Wrong, we just think this is now overkill.

They have seen the one item that their Sainted Leader could offer any hope of getting re-elected on - the economy - turn into a big smoking hole. And I mean big - highest unemployment rate since the Great Depression, largest point drop in the stick market ever, a GDP estimated to be -30% next quarter...

Blame China, before that, it was a train all the way.

And they can't wrap their heads around the fact that to get out of this mess, Trump enacted the largest socialist bailout in US history - over a trillion dollars. And just yesterday, he signed another half trillion dollar socialist bailout bill. Yes, Trump has gone full-Socialist as his last hope to get re-elected...

Until the country gets back to work

They are beyond desperate - so they copy the tactics of their leader - they suspend reality...

The only people that are desperate are the Democrats, if they weren’t they wouldn’t be talking about trying to open up another investigation, that is clear desperation.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

America deserves better, much better.

Pelosi proved she can’t do it or Schumer, they can’t even take care of their own States let alone the country.

2 of 3 conservative hates him, too, they're just too syncophantic and weak to admit it.

.....you can say the same about two or three Democrats that like Trump

You are convinced that democrats hate people who want to work. I am scared of what people who think like you will do next November if Trump isn't reelected.

Hey! I’m just going by how all these liberal Democrat governors are trying so hard even in areas that are not affected by this virus they trying to keep the country on lockdown, even in California people are starting to push against this, but don’t worry the country won’t elect Biden, Trump is too high in the polls for that to happen.

Just like Trump saying inject a little Clorox and it will brighten your day, here we get Trump supporters saying "it's an irrefutable fact that Biden can't beat Trump" and "32% is more than half"...

It is worthless to reply to these folks - they're in a reality where "Colorado is on our southern border"....

Unless you're a total moron.

I think many of Trump's staunchest followers admit he is one. They've repeatedly posted messages saying 'Don't listen to Trump. Listen to the experts'.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Trump’s inner body disinfectant comment was just a “what if we could just... and it’ll all go away” thing you say while drinking with your friends.

When you're in charge of the most powerful nation in the world and speaking to the world in a press conference regarding a pandemic that has killed over 54,000 of your countrymen and over 200,000 worldwide, you don't adopt the attitude of a drunk shootin' the breeze with his buddies in a bar.

Unless you're a total moron.

2 of 3 conservative hates him, too, they're just too syncophantic and weak to admit it.

What do they have against people working?

Again, that's exactly what I mean. You are convinced that democrats hate people who want to work. I am scared of what people who think like you will do next November if Trump isn't reelected.

wants the economy to collapse

@bas4fOk, so one.

It would be helpful to have links showing who that 'one' is and their saying they want the economy to collapse.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I think we can call that a comment failure that every single democrat member wants the economy to collapse

Ok, so one.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

I agree. That the US has such a high poverty rate while being such a rich nation says its political-economic system has failed a large part of the country.

So why is the richest State with the richest liberals are allowing this to happen? They’re for socializing everything, why do 55,000 people have to suffer in that State? Why don’t these caring and gracious billionaires do something?

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

The 3 "Take away the Noble Prize" and "Sue the Noble Committee" tweets today and how they were quickly deleted and explained were around 10 times as crazy as the inject disinfectant statement. After learning that it was spelled Nobel and had nothing to do with journalism Trump then ranted that nobody understood his sarcasm. He then tweeted that he had not left the White House for "many months". Somehow forgetting that he went to Florida to play golf just last month and did a lot of rallies all over the country.

Now he is tweeting a deep fake video of Biden with his tongue out and eyes rolling. Kind of stuff a 10 year old might tweet.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Donny might believe that bankrupting the healthcare system might defeat the virus.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

@bas4fPoverty kills too.

I agree. That the US has such a high poverty rate while being such a rich nation says its political-economic system has failed a large part of the country.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Yup, that's exactly what I mean. The far-right paints a picture of the left so bleak and negative that it convinces their viewers that their compatriots are literally their enemy,

What do they have against people working?

and that they mean them harm.

Poverty kills too.

Grammatically that sentence doesn't contain any form of "prediction". It's a hypothetical indicating a possibility ("if" and not "when").

Yes, a very low possibility.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Someone doesn't understand US political systems. The US president does not dictate policies.

No, he does not, so why won’t the Democrats help him? Why would they go against one of their own that wants to thank the President. I thought they were the party of tolerance.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

believing that the liberals have the American people’s best interest at heart.

Yup, that's exactly what I mean. The far-right paints a picture of the left so bleak and negative that it convinces their viewers that their compatriots are literally their enemy, and that they mean them harm. It's actually frightening. Because it's all fun and games... Until someone starts building bombs and sending them to senators.

Another Hillary hopeful prediction.

I'm sort of worried of what people with this worldview, who have been thouroughly brainwashed and are completely lost to the far-right media, will do if Trump loses the next election

Every House Democrat, the Squad, the Senate Dems and if you are a Democrat like Michigan Democratic state Rep. Karen Whitsett and want to give thanks and credit to the President for helping her for in part saving her life, her own party wants to censure her? So in other words, we have to defeat Trump and all you lemmings get out of line, you’re done and the same goes for you Media, bury any and every story on Biden, he can’t be tainted otherwise, he could lose to Trump, so yes, every Democrat.

But it isn't a totally illegitimate question when we live in a world where Trump supporters go to rallies with "SACRIFICE THE WEAK" signs. There is little doubt to me that some higher-ups in the republican think-tanks believe it's better to let a certain number of people die so the economy can be reopened and they can make money again.

Flip mode! I think there is No doubt that liberals are rooting for a failed economy of that means that could possibly get Trump out of office, the longer they prolong the re-opening of the economy IN CERTAIN SECTORS the more it hurts the President, so if that means businesses or lives are hurt in the process, so be it.

"How many deaths are acceptable?"

thats a gotcha question that has no acceptable answer.

I wouldn't qualify that as a "gotcha", but it is a dumb question. Or at least very poorly formulated, because there is a correct answer ("none") and Trump gave it (and if there is an honest answer, he would of course never ever have said it).

here is an example of where they forgot to change the initial story to act like they never said he owes.

"President Donald Trump owes tens of millions to a state-owned Chinese bank, and the loan is due in what would be the middle of his second term should he win re-election, according to financial records obtained by Politico."

https://www.salon.com/2020/04/24/newly-revealed-financial-records-show-trump-owes-millions-to-state-owned-bank-in-china-report/

Anyway this fake story has already been removed several times here and will likely be removed again.

So back to the US economy.....

"Zero" is unrealistic and as soon as one person dies it will be "Trump lied- he said no one would die"

Most questions are of a similar nature.

*Trump's** global business empire seems to be on the ropes. Does he expect his global elite backers to bail him out, or the US taxpayers. *

Personal investments, more secondhand gossip?

No wonder he's in his safe room melting down. His house of cards is showing serious foundational problems. Just hope he doesn't do a wag the tail to cover this up, too.

For the life of me, I don’t know where you guys get this junk from. Trump needs to re-open the country and fast, PCs are good....to a point.

Irrelevant to Faux “News” having so many retractions.

Well they don’t compared to outlets like the WP and NYT just a tip of the iceberg, but seriously, let’s focus for a moment, liberals want to jump all of the President, but he’s not allowed to excoriate them for lies and slanders? Why is this even an argument or a debate? The President will always have the final say and if liberals or the press don’t like it, there’s really not much they can do, but just take it. They’ll be ok.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

we had the best economy in the history of the world

This is of course factually wrong and a simple parroting of Trump's talking point. Trumps doesn't even have the best economy in the history of his own country.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-45827430

Reality Check verdict: It's true the economy has been doing well - but there have been periods when it was even stronger.

"For 2019, the data shows an annual average growth of 2.3%, ending the year at 2.1% for the fourth quarter.

This is significantly less than the 5.5% peak achieved in the second quarter of 2014 during the Obama presidency."

"After inflation is taken into account, real wages increased by 0.6% in December 2019, and peaked at 1.9% in February under President Trump, according to official data.

This is lower than the real wage increases of more than 2% that President Obama oversaw in 2015."

before the coronavirus hit everyone. And we will again.

What kind of policies do you think he will implement to save the economy? Cutting taxes for the wealthy usually only serves as a temporary boost and in this case will probably have no effect at all...

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Trump’s inner body disinfectant comment was just a “what if we could just... and it’ll all go away” thing you say while drinking with your friends. No need for the media and reporters addicted to asking gotcha questions to play it up.

Once Trump succeeds in the damage control of the virus he has to tackle the fundamental repairs of the structural problems that the crisis reveals. It’s not just the economy.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

After two months of frantic response to the coronavirus, the White House is planning to shift President Donald Trump’s public focus to the burgeoning efforts aimed at easing the economic devastation caused by the pandemic.

Hmmmm..... OK;

Trump Corona Response Ad: Due to my incompetence, and focus on my re-election instead of lives, I killed over 50K people...Vote for Trump....

Trump Economy Ad: I took a great economy and drove it into the ditch - contracting GDP, highest unemployment rate in history, largest budget deficit ever, biggest stock market point decline....Vote for Trump....

Well, good luck with that...

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Exactly, Hawkeye.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

These daily nonsensical meetings are a waste of time and money. This photograph looks like a "come to Jesus meeting for journalists". Trump is always all over the place and can not focus on one single project and finish it. When the poop hits the fan on one of his projects, he shifts blame to everyone else and he has no one in in his staff that he will not throw under the bus. Hope we get someone better in the next administration and I don't care what political party they belong to, just fix the problems.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

The daily briefings on the pandemic are nothing more than a disbursement of fake news, disinformation and misinformation. They are nothing but reelection campaign rallies.

The current occupant of the White House is a dangerous disgrace and We the People of the United States of America (U.S./USA) are paying a high price for having elected him.

November 8, 2016 is another date that will life in infamy and cannot be allowed to be repeated on November 3, 2020.

He has fooled some of the people most of the time ... enough already.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

The purpose of these briefs was for the President and his team to answer questions directly to the American people.

And we did. Donny would spout nonsense and his team would immediately attempt to correct the nonsense. Leave Donny out if it so we don’t get any nonsense; it’ll be more efficient.

the liberal media will only ask their own gotcha questions and then twist the words of the answers.

Conservatives think that questioning which leads the party answering to demonstrate their ignorance is a “gotcha question” and that quoting Donny’s words is twisting them. No wonder red states are so poor and have such low quality of life.

An economy that can collapse so quickly lacks resilience and undermines any suggestion that it was particularly good.

But either way, the economy was inherited from Obama and owes very little to Trump.

Any thinking person would be so done with the feckless media which has many easily deluded people thinking Trump said everyone should drink bleach. Jeez...

Serrano - some people have taken a slightly exaggerated view of trump’s statement, but what he did say about disinfectant was not far off it - he was talking about whether we could look at injecting it. He claimed that it was sarcasm, when it quite obviously wasn’t. He was just talking off script and letting his mind wonder. It was pretty inarticulate, and time he learnt to keep his mouth shut and only talk to agreed points.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Trump will now pivot to the economy.

if a vaccine can be developed."

Good point. I've read this virus has mutated, that there might even be regional strains. It's probably wishful thinking a single vaccine could combat the varieties, especially given scientists are still trying to understand them. Lots more research needs to be done. Still, more power to those working for effective treatments.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Looks like he's running away from the media.

Any thinking person would be so done with the feckless media which has many easily deluded people thinking Trump said everyone should drink bleach. Jeez...

Americans voted and chose this? Really?

The alternative was Hillary. And this time the alternative is going to be either Biden or Cuomo or, don't rule it out, Hillary again.

Trump 2020 all the way.

How many businesses did Trump bankrupt?

Newsflash - bankruptcies happen all the time in business. How many times did Trump come back from the bankruptcies to become overall very successful?

-16 ( +3 / -19 )

I think the article should be changed from "until a vaccine is developed," to "if a vaccine can be developed." There is no certainty that one can be developed. Vaccines are not possible for all viruses. If that were true, we'd have a vaccine for rhinoviruses (the common cold virus) by now. There are no vaccines for HIV, HCV, norovirus, the herpes viruses, bird viruses or ebola and many more.

Trump will now pivot to the economy.

God help us all.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Trump pivot from virus to economy

Little Richard's 'Spinning like a spinning top' make good lyrics to describe the perpetually pivoting president who as usual probably worries more about his and his family's finances than the general population's, and even those of his fellow elite's.

How much bailout money (aka welfare/socialism for the rich) will Trump's global businesses receive. It looks like he'll need a lot to pay back China.

President Donald Trump owes tens of millions to a state-owned Chinese bank, and the loan is due in what would be the middle of his second term should he win re-election,
