Well, that’s not going to happen. Joe Manchin has vehemently spoken against it, if it comes to that he just might switch his party affiliation and the Senate would switch back control to the Republicans.

Yeah, yeah, whatever. Joe Manchin may have chilled on this due to the bad faith that republicans have brought to the table. Who knows. But it's a silly rule that should really be scrapped.

Now Biden is contemplating to possibly making the same mistake Reid made? If and when the powers of the WH switch they will equally use this newfound power to use against the Democrats.

Not likely to happen any time soon if the GOP keep backing loser Trump.

I don’t think so, at this point and trajectory this all helps Trump and definitely the GOP.

Anything that helps Trump, hurts the GOP.

Not only should they get the 3-5 seats they need to flip the House next year

Not saying that is not true, but it has nothing to do with Trump. The party that has the White House usually loses in the midterms, and the Dems don't have a big majority.

the Senate is equally looking bleak for the Dems

The Senate always looked belak for the Dems, due to its structural make up. It doesn't represent the America. At the moment Dems and GOP both have 50 seats, yet the Dems represent 40 million more people. It's another good reason for reform of the Senate.

Legislative decisions with very rare exceptions should be settled by a majority vote of the members. A 2/3 threshold to pass legislation should be reserved for only the most important matters such as ratifying treaties or convicting office holders impeached by the lower house. The US Constitution doesn't even require a 2/3 majority of either house to declare war. It should not be a requirement to pass routine legislation, but the Filibuster as it is currently implemented amounts to exactly that. The minority party should not have veto power this way. If anything is allowed it should be the original method where a member of the Senate must stand at the podium and speak.

Yes please remove the filibuster right before the republicans take back Congress next year.

Yeah, yeah, whatever. Joe Manchin may have chilled on this due to the bad faith that republicans have brought to the table.

Not Republicans, in his own words he’s scared and deeply worried how his party is becoming more radical by the day, he doesn’t want to see the country fall over a cliff and if he has to be a Republican to stop this madness, then so be it, those are sentiments coming from a concerned American, not a political hack.

Who knows. But it's a silly rule that should really be scrapped.

Until it comes back around to the Dems. Leave the emotion, that anger pushed Reid to blow up the Senate filibuster, it helped Mitch and the Republicans as well as Trump. Now if Biden wants to again make the same mistake, go for it. Lol

I don’t think so, at this point and trajectory this all helps Trump and definitely the GOP. Not only should they get the 3-5 seats they need to flip the House next year, but they could add up to 41 seats giving them a huge majority and that spells trouble for the Dems and Biden going forward, the Senate is equally looking bleak for the Dems, but yeah, keep doing what they’re doing. Makes me smile.

Well, that’s not going to happen. Joe Manchin has vehemently spoken against it, if it comes to that he just might switch his party affiliation and the Senate would switch back control to the Republicans. Biden is playing with fire on this and as with most Democrats have a very short memory span. Harry Reid got rid of the Senate filibuster and that came back to haunt the Dems as well. Because of Reid, Mitch was able to get a lot of lower circuit court judges to the bench. Now Biden is contemplating to possibly making the same mistake Reid made? If and when the powers of the WH switch they will equally use this newfound power to use against the Democrats.

Did anyone else actually watch the townhall mentioned in the article? My God, what a disaster for the President. It is no wonder his staff do not allow him to do interviews or meet with the press corps on his own. Even with handpicked questioners, pre-screened questions, and a friendly interviewer, he looked lost and befuddled.

As for his comments on voting rights being under assault, I would say that the biggest assault was the enactment of Jim Crow laws in the south (under Democratic governors). Simply asking people to prove their citizenship before voting is not comparable. It is accepted practice in every other democratic nation on earth. One wonders why the modern Democratic party is so insistent on allowing non-citizens easy access to voting...
