The new guidance, described to The Associated Press by a person familiar with it, was issued to the FBI over the weekend in response to Democratic and news media pushback that the scope of the probe was too narrow.

Which means Trump lied when he initially said the FBI had free reign.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

In a statement Sunday, a Yale classmate of Kavanaugh's said he is "deeply troubled by what has been a blatant mischaracterization by Brett himself of his drinking at Yale." Charles "Chad" Ludington, who now teaches at North Carolina State University, said he was a friend of Kavanaugh's at Yale and said Kavanaugh was "a frequent drinker, and a heavy drinker."

Chad isn't credible; he's clearly a liberal teacher at a state university. Everyone knows that educators are libs. Obama was a professor.

Which means Trump lied when he initially said the FBI had free reign

What BS. New guidance is always necessary after free reign is given. How else do we ensure this doesn't become another Mueller witch hunt (Only how many indictments and guilty please? Exactly, nothing to do with Trump except him employing them.)?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

New guidance is necessary to clarify that the free reign given really is free reign when liberals can’t (don’t want to) hear the first time.

so when is avenatti’s client going under oath? The one who has been involved in eight other court cases.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

While saying that youthful drinking should not condemn a person for life, Ludington said he was concerned about Kavanaugh's statements under oath before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Was Kavanaugh lying?

FBI investigators "know that little lies point to bigger lies," Comey wrote. "They know that obvious lies by the nominee about the meaning of words in a yearbook are a flashing signal to dig deeper."

I understand Trump and many of his followers want things like honesty, ethics and morality ignored because they might interfere with Trump gaining even more executive power and could slow down the wealth grabs of the global .01%ers.

Tolerating a dishonest president is bad enough, but a dishonest person should never serve on the Supreme Court. Especially one who's been 'groomed' by America's far-right global elite.

So true! It's not as if the new guidance was necessary because is conservstives we're trying to limit the scope of the investigation. That was just a false narrative pushed by the liberal MSM!

so when is avenatti’s client going under oath? The one who has been involved in eight other court cases.

Tell me about it. We all know that litigious people have no credibility. Trump's different because he's a business person. Everyone knows business people are constantly suing.

"The one thing I want is speed."

"we don't want to go on a witch hunt, do we?"

Sounds like free rein to me.

Go ahead, every lawyer out there has said that this charge is unprosecutable. No corroborating witnesses, no proof, inconsistencies in the sole testimony of the alleged victim.

Exactly! There is nothing prosecutable here. Libs just can't understand that we're not in a court of law or looking for an indictment.

The FBI investigation is a good idea, it'll shut up the liberals after it's done... no wait a minute, regrettably nothing will do that.

Amen! The libs should learn from us about shutting up after an investigation has been concluded. We know that letting justice run its course is important. Now, when will we get an investigation into Clinton, Obama, Rosenstein, Comey, the Podesta brothers?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

this charge is unprosecutable

That's not the point. Kavanaugh's character is under scrutiny because he is a nominee to the Supreme Court.

Don't worry. Kavanaugh will be confirmed. Trump's GOP has abandoned moral principle. Manchin and Heitkamp may well join them.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Now, when will we get an investigation into Clinton, Obama, Rosenstein, Comey, the Podesta brothers?

When other seats at SCOTUS get vacant.

Go ahead, every lawyer out there has said that this charge is unprosecutable.

So what?

The unhinged liberal MSM at it again:

Interview this man. He also said:

Judge Kavanaugh "was often belligerent and aggressive" when drunk.

"I can unequivocally say that in denying the possibility that he ever blacked out from drinking, and in downplaying the degree and frequency of his drinking, Brett has not told the truth."

Kavanaugh has lied.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Anybody who tells little lies will tell bigger lies, especially to get themselves out of trouble.

How can anybody believe anything that comes out of Kavanaugh's mouth? He needs to fully investigated to the umpteenth degree.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

And here we go with some more evidence that Kavanaugh lies like a cheap rug.

He stated under oath that he did not know about Ramirez's allegations until they were printed 9/23 ...

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/supreme-court/mutual-friend-ramirez-kavanaugh-anxious-come-forward-evidence-n915566

The texts between Berchem and Karen Yarasavage, both friends of Kavanaugh, suggest that the nominee was personally talking with former classmates about Ramirez’s story in advance of the New Yorker article that made her allegation public. In one message, Yarasavage said Kavanaugh asked her to go on the record in his defense. Two other messages show communication between Kavanaugh's team and former classmates in advance of the story.

And it continues:

The texts also demonstrate that Kavanaugh and Ramirez were more socially connected than previously understood and that Ramirez was uncomfortable around Kavanaugh when they saw each other at a wedding 10 years after they graduated.

Importantly:

Berchem's efforts also show that some potential witnesses have been unable to get important information to the FBI.

Different news to other sources who say the White House is limited who can be interviewed in the one week allowed.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Irrespective of what the FBI investigation uncovers, Kavanaugh should be disqualified based on his unhinged performance last week.  Besides the fact that he exhibited zero judicial temperament, his invoking of the Clinton's as part of a cabal to prevent his nomination shows he traffics in outlandish and far-fetched right-wing conspiracy theories, and more importantly, can't function in an impartial manner.

I wouldn't want a conservative judge, but if he/she pass muster, then they should be confirmed.

But we must not confirm a frenetic nut who can't understand far-right wing (likely Russian-authored) fiction from reality...

My own speculation is that Trump is getting ready to ditch Kavanagh because he hates him.

I think everything about Kavanagh (except for his politics) rubs Trump the wrong way. Trump hates alcohol and views heavy drinking as a serious character flaw. He also probably wasn't impressed with Kavanagh's performance in the Senate. Everyone says Kavanagh was being Trumpian, but he actually wasn't. While Trump has a victim complex and gets argumentative too, but he never breaks down in tears, he always puts on the tough guy look and expects others to do the same. Kavanagh looked weak and pathetic in that hearing, traits which Trump also hates.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I give him a 50-50 chance. It’s obvious he’s a partisan drunk with anger management issues. The GOP is fine with that as he’s very white and very conservative.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Kabuki. Kavanaugh's testimony to any rational person shows him to be a liar.

That's not necessarily a reason to vote against him - his transgressions appear to be overboard for a person that age, brushing against illegality without, maybe, crossing the line - but his continual denials are clearly BS.

If a man so glib at lying is what the Repubs want for a SCOTUS justice, go ahead and vote for him. Most will anyway, regardless of what corroboration to his deception is found. They've already made their decision and are simply waiting out the process.

Kavanaugh has lied.

Sure, if you believe a university teacher over a judge. Kavanaugh had his own Judge (Mark) to corroborate his testimony of never getting blackout drunk. Judge remembers clearly because he hadn't admitted to starting the sauce at 14 and drinking until he blacked out.

But Dems don’t want none of that it seems.

ignored because they might interfere with Trump gaining even more executive power and could slow down the wealth grabs of the global .01%ers.

Those liberals in LA, NY and Silicone Valley and San Francisco as radical and progressive as they are, Trump should be happy making these 0.1%ers happy according to you guys.

Tolerating a dishonest president is bad enough,

But tolerating a dishonest and corrupt Democratic Party is ok?

but a dishonest person should never serve on the Supreme Court. Especially one who's been 'groomed' by America's far-right global elite.

But to slime a person dishonestly is ok?

So basically what you are saying when people lie on you, fabricate junk, purposely try to destroy your life, withholding and sitting on information that as a person being accused withholding that information for 45 days and never once letting you know or giving you the indication of knowing or having possible damaging information and then at the last minute of your confirmation hearing and everyone seems ok, you go.....by the way....

Sorry, he had every right to yell at them, if it were me, I would have used salty language as well, but that’s me. Any liberal that says he doesn’t have the temper, I would challenge them to being subjected to the same allegations and see if they can keep quiet and not show a single sign of emotion, either you’re a robot or completely devolved of any human empathy.

his invoking of the Clinton's as part of a cabal to prevent his nomination shows he traffics in outlandish and far-fetched right-wing conspiracy theories, and more importantly, can't function in an impartial manner.

Dunno, he had access to the nuclear codes, so I guess he had more access to that kind of information, so he would know.

I wouldn't want a conservative judge, but if he/she pass muster, then they should be confirmed.

I understand, I really do. I definitely wouldn’t want a liberal activist Judge on the court.

But we must not confirm a frenetic nut who can't understand far-right wing (likely Russian-authored) fiction from reality...

Oh, please....lol

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Interesting how the narrative has changed away from sexual assault to the more easily proven “he drinks alcohol”.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

But Dems don’t want none of that it seems.

No doubt. Dems hate honesty, ethics, and morality. The proof is how they insist on a focused investigation to determine whether Kavanaugh is honest, has morality, or ethics. Our boy Brett sure showed them they didn't need any when he was hitting back after Ford's testimony.

Those liberals in LA, NY and Silicone Valley and San Francisco as radical and progressive as they are, Trump should be happy making these 0.1%ers happy according to you guys.

So true! Progressives are intolerable, like that progressive president Lincoln.

But tolerating a dishonest and corrupt Democratic Party is ok?

Right?! The Democratic Party is an exact equivalent to the president. The similarities are so obvious. One is a group of people that has checks and balances, the other is an individual whose party controls Congress. Absolutely the same.

But to slime a person dishonestly is ok?

Not at all. When we conservatives do it, we have good reason. The brother movement is a perfect example or disparaging Ford, we do that in an honest way.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Interesting how the narrative has changed away from sexual assault to the more easily proven “he drinks alcohol”.

Well, it's been proven that he's a sexual assaulting drunk, beyond all evidence. Certified.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

That is what you're saying, correct? Never mind that that isn't what your words say. We conservatives know how libs speak in code.

Exactly. Kavanaugh's right to yell at the people interviewing him for the SCOTUS is found in the Bill of Rights.

Besides that, we want a SCOTUS justice that can't control his emotions because it's the best way for constitutional issues to be decided. We want a justice that doesn't take any crap and punches back; it's works so well for our president!

5 ( +5 / -0 )

@blklab nteresting how the narrative has changed away from sexual assault to the more easily proven “he drinks alcohol”.

Perhaps the narrative for Trump's truest believers, given that Trump's a teetotaler, is 'he drinks alcohol'.

But for me the narrative is Kavanaugh appears to have lied. Repeatedly.

Kavanaugh is unfit for the Supreme Court.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Dunno, he had access to the nuclear codes, so I guess he had more access to that kind of information, so he would know.

Everyone knows that federal judges have access to the nuclear codes and receive daily intelligence briefings. Of course, those briefings are conducted by the credible intelligence agencies.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Yeah! Go Democrats! Smear him the way the right smeared Hillary. Make him sit through as many investigations as Hillary. Declare him guilty beyond all doubt, same as the Republicans did Hillary. Laugh when he gets denied SCOTUS through a smear campaign, same way Hillary was denied the presidency through a smear campaign.

This whole Kavanaugh thing would be great even if it was false, for throwing the Republicans game right back in their face. But it's even more delicious knowing that he actually is a drunken rapist, no one even has to make anything up!

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Interesting how the narrative has changed away from sexual assault to the more easily proven “he drinks alcohol”.

Right?! It's not as if there's evidence that Kavanaugh lied under oath when defending himself from the salacious allegations leveled against him. Libs and their logic, smh. How they get to perjury from sexual assault is beyond me!

5 ( +5 / -0 )

More evidence that Kavanaugh hits back:

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Never mind that that isn't what your words say. We conservatives know how libs speak in code.

I don’t think liberals even speak.

Right?! It's not as if there's evidence that Kavanaugh lied under oath when defending himself from the salacious allegations leveled against him.

As you said, salacious allegations if you he did this for a fact, call the Feds up and you and Strange show them your evidence. Lol

Libs and their logic, smh.

Exactly. Kavanaugh's right to yell at the people interviewing him for the SCOTUS is found in the Bill of Rights.

Again, if I got slandered and fancy keys like that I would have violated a bunch of FCC rules.

Besides that, we want a SCOTUS justice that can't control his emotions because it's the best way for constitutional issues to be decided.

He’s done well so far for the last 25 years, but that was before the left freaked out and decided if he’s going to be nominated to the bench as Schumer said, idiot Dems called this guy names before they even met him, ironic.

We want a justice that doesn't take any crap and punches back; it's works so well for our president!

Oh, I most definitely agree with that!!

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

I don't basically say anything - what I said is in black and white - and no one appointed you translator.

He certainly does have every right to rant and rave - and no one is denying him that right.  This is about temperament, and he clearly showed by his unhinged behavior that he lacks the decorum for a Supreme Court Judge.  And his invoking of the Clinton's was a purely partisan attack that should disqualify him from his current judicial position, let alone the Supreme Court.

Dunno, he had access to the nuclear codes, so I guess he had more access to that kind of information, so he would know.

Republicans in 2048 - "The Clinton's are to blame - their vast left-wing cabal stole the election from us...."

And I notice in your 1:56pm post you got in 2 "Libs" and 1 "Left" - Putin gives you three stars....

"My family and my name have been totally and permanently destroyed. This confirmation process has become a national disgrace. The constitution gives the senate an important role in the confirmation process, but you have replaced advice and consent with search and destroy."

-------- Brett "Spike" Kavanaugh

If Kavanaugh really feels that way about all of this, then he should get out now for the good of the Supreme Court, the country and his family.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I don't basically say anything - what I said is in black and white - and no one appointed you translator.

I don’t need to be one, but it was right on the mark that is exactly what the left is indicating, they want to call out conservatives and think they know what they are saying or implaying, accusing the left, you just don’t know what you’re talking about. Lol

He certainly does have every right to rant and rave.

Thank you, that’s all I’m saying, if any human being got attacked and their family and reputation that got slimed and DIDN’T say anything, in my eyes they would be a coward.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

I don’t need to be one, but it was right on the mark that is exactly what the left is indicating

No.

they want to call out conservatives

Yes.

Not even drinking, just standing near the punch. If it even happened in the first place. No one drank punch at parties unless you wanted to get drunk, even in the 80s.

“In an interview with NBC aired Monday, Swetnick walked back her accusations of both the drugging and the raping, saying only that she had seen Kavanaugh near punch containers she believed to be spiked.”

There you, once again, I was right, all of this and this Swetnick are nothing but a farce.

In 25 years of public service, there has been no indication that Kavanaugh is anything but calm and measured when he is on the bench. His emotional outburst at the hearing last week was completely understandable given the circumstances. Assault his family, his character, and his professional reputation, and a man will react. It's only natural.

The one thing that I think disqualifies him from service on the court is that he is a Yale University graduate. There are enough damn Yalies holding the reigns of power already in the US. Not to mention that the court is already 5 Catholics and 3 Jews. How about giving someone else a shot?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

His emotional outburst at the hearing last week was completely understandable given the circumstances

No it wasn’t. It simply showed him to be inappropriate for the position. Total rookie on top of being a drunken rapist.

His emotional outburst at the hearing last week was completely understandable given the circumstances.

I don't understand it. Could you please explain?

Assault his family, his character, and his professional reputation, and a man will react. It's only natural.

Kavanaugh was not assaulted. That's what (allegedly) happened to Ford. Kavanaugh was simply accused. There is a difference. Any man who can't tell the difference between the two has no place on the most important court in the country.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

kavanaugh threw ice at someone in a bar 33 years ago. Total disqualification!

Seems no one wants to claim Avenatti’s accuser anymore. She totally changed her story once she heard false allegations get prosecuted. so I expect he will find another one who is even more desperate before Friday.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

No it wasn’t. It simply showed him to be inappropriate for the position. Total rookie on top of being a drunken rapist.

Yeah, I want to challenge ANY man, lie, try and destroy their career and hurt and insult their family, I want to see any man stay calm and collected. But looking at it, guess Corey Booker can’t serve, he grouped a woman, Ellison beat his ex, he should never get the AG position especially with that kind of temper, Biden should step down, touchy, feels Biden should go as well. Hirono's Democratic colleague in the Senate, Tom Carper (Del.), who has admitted to punching his wife hard enough to give her a black eye, appears to be getting a pass from Hirono, who, even since his admission was revealed last January, has taken campaign money from him. Senator Blumenthal should step down because he lied about serving in Vietnam. Diane Feinstein hired and knew she employed a Chinese spy and kept it secret for years, she needs to step down for lack of public disclosure and lying, so basically these Democrats are equally unqualified and should be disqualified from serving.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Completely understandable that falsely accused people get mad. It’s these people like Ellison and Booker who know they are protected by the liberal media who have no reason to get upset. Everyone knows nothing will ever happen to them.

Associated Press claims Ellison accuser accusation is “unsubstantiated” because there is no video. What happened to believing victims?

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

“Spartacus” Booker admitted in a newspaper article he wrote himself that he groped a 15 year old. But his deeds later in life obviously made up for it somehow so he is just fine now. Fine enough to attack a man falsely accused of what he himself actually did.

Spartacus indeed.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

bass4funkToday  07:19 pm JST

Yeah, I want to challenge ANY man,

I seem to recall Hillary Clinton endured far longer questioning about far more serious allegations from far more hateful Republicans whose investigation was supported by far less evidence, and she never once even broke a sweat. Kavanaugh fell to pieces during his prepared statement - you know the one that he was supposed to write beforehand and get outside help with. You don't think any man could do as good of a job under questioning as Hillary Clinton did? That's a rather anti-male position for you to take! I happen to think lots of guys could go through tough questioning and not give the disgraceful performance Kavanaugh did.

Or at least, they could if they actually were innocent of the charges being brought...

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Completely understandable that falsely accused people get mad.

It sure is.

But we’re talking about happy hands Kavanaugh here. What’s his excuse?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

“Spartacus” Booker admitted in a newspaper article he wrote himself that he groped a 15 year old.

So why does happy hands Kavanaugh keep lying about it?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Because no matter how many cute names you make, Kavanuagh didn’t do it. Each 2020 presidential hopeful simply has to have their own personal accuser.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

But looking at it, guess Corey Booker can’t serve, he grouped a woman, Ellison beat his ex, he should never get the AG position especially with that kind of temper, Biden should step down

You are aware of the differences between these positions and a lifetime tenure on the SC, don’t you?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

You are aware of the differences between these positions and a lifetime tenure on the SC, don’t you?

You are aware a lie is a “lie” and an assault is an “assault” justice has no color, no preference of social standing or race, we either cherry pick who we want to go after or we investigate and treat everyone that files a complaint the same.

Calm down. No one insulted Kavanaugh's family.

His family have been treatened as well as Ford’s but both sides are extremely wrong for doing this. Now these people have to walk around with special security.

He may well have embarrassed them himself by so patently exploiting the image of his 10-year old daughter praying for his accuser,

Oh, I forget, liberals hate to hear anything about someone with a religious belief, we can’t say anything because the LEFT doesn’t like it, well....so what. Like he said, amazing that in spite of all this, his 10 year old daughter was kind and noble for thinking about Ford.

and then bursting into tears; people rightly laughed at Serena Williams for less.

Well, we all know the left lacks compassion except when it involves a woman because by definition if she’s incoherent in giving her answers and needs to consult with her lawyers, one of them being a known liberal progressive activist that is receiving money from an organization to help stop Kavanaugh to get the highest seat in the land, the same woman who represented Bill Clinton in his lawsuit against Paula Jones, who at that time was laughed out of the room.

Kavanaugh could have kept his family in the background, and a more sensible person would have.

Ok, so Thomas, Roberts and Gorsuch can bring their families, but Kavanaugh can’t? So you’re saying he should have anticipated the Democrats trap and should have shielded them knowing that an onslaught of verbal attacks were coming his way?

But no one owes Kavanaugh a seat on the Supreme Court just because damaging information about his suitability might also indirectly damage his family. Those are the same risks that anyone running for public office takes, and the same risks that they expose their families to.

What a bunch of stinking garbage!

Kavanaugh came across as an unhesitant and frequent liar.

Can you prove it? What do you know that the Feds don’t or anyone else that supposedly took place in 1982? Please eleborate.

He even lied about things he didn't need to lie about, and which were transparently lies. If those lies have dire consequences for him, his reputation, and his career, he'll only have himself to blame. A judge shouldn't need to have the gravity of lying in hearings likes these explained to him.

He didn’t lie, if he did, he knows the consequences as he knows he could perjure himself, so that argument went out the window.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

You are aware a lie is a “lie”

Heh, I like how you had to put it in quotes to keep it real.

Yeah, we all know it's not a lie. He's clearly guiltier than you guys ever pretended Hillary was.

an assault is an “assault"

Which is exactly why Happy Hands Kavanaugh can't be on the SC.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Meanwhile Avenatti is back to tweeting about Stormy. Forgetting all about his false allegation bringing client.

over half of Americans are supposed democrats so that would make sense. But no republican votes will change over this issue and you are losing in Missouri and Florida and Montana now. +3 to Team Trump if not more.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

you are losing in Missouri and Florida and Montana now. +3 to Team Trump if not more.

The left just teed off the right with this nomination kabuki theater crap, being within the margin of error has a lot Dems spooked, being so close means the gap is narrowing from what they had earlier this year where they had a huge advantage, but now losing it, there could be a red wave coming and especially if they see what the Dems have to offer which is.....besides more socialism high taxes and income redistribution who on Earth would want to go back to that?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

On Tuesday, Mike Davis, who works as the nominations counsel for Grassley, reportedly told Avenatti: "We have already reviewed your client's allegations. We focus on credible allegations. Please stop emailing me."

poor Avenatti. So he just went and got another accuser who supposedly knows both Ford and Swetnik and who went to over 20 parties together. Kavanuagh hanging out by the punch bowl everytime -supposedly. This is done now and the vote is coming.
