They will also investigate whether the congestion contributed to emergency services not being able to reach an elderly lady who later died. This is not going to be good for Christie....

I'm glad that I was born in New York instead of New Jersey.

This is a classic example of the pettiness that's endemic in modern-day US politics (as demonstrated by both major parties).

It rarely goes this far though, where the people down on main street are the ones taking the brunt of the retribution; that's why this is such a big deal. So no, this is not an example of the usual politics - this one goes beyond that.

Also, this won't have anything to do with interstate movement. The Feds are investigating this for possible abuse of power, which the State of NJ alongside investigating - and most likely will leave it up to the State to sort out (the Feds being there just in case something outrageous results from this). Especially if it turns out to be the cause of someone's death.

Whether NJ Gov. Christie has knowledge of this or willful ignorance, there's still the question of what aura he's surrounding his administration such that his underlings would even think such an act as this would meet the approval of their boss (because they wouldn't think of doing this in the first place, if they believed they'd be admonished by their boss). It's like thinking: "he would've done the same if he was in my position." How crazy aura is that?

May the guilty be discovered and punished, and just getting sacked is not enough. All involved deserve jail.

That said, I see nothing that tells me Christie is guilty. I hate to see anyone punished for the crimes of another.

Since it involved interstate movement, it should be prosecuted at the federal level and the people responsible should spend six months or so behind bars to reflect on the error of their way. Funny car, its his party and he is responsible for it and 100 percent responsible at that level. If not then how could he be responsible to run a city or country?

Being responsible does not mean taking the fall for every criminal action taken. It means finding and punishing those responsible whenever possible. Christie is a Republican,not a Borg.

Christie's career as a national politician is probably finished.

Every Presidential candidate goes through a blow like this. American voters are carefully watching and analyzing how he handles this case. If he handle this case properly, by changing opportunity to strength, he will become a strong candidate. He is not yet finished.

Ah, and Christie does it again.

If Christie is telling the truth that he didn't know anything about his staff's wrong doing then he will actually come out of this stronger for his adroit and quick action in handling the situation. If it is found that he knew about it and tried to cover it up he will be toast. This event, like the IRS going after conservative groups, is a prime example of the excessive amount of power that government has over the lives of it's citizens. At least someone has had to pay for their malfeasence by getting fired. I'm still waiting for Obama to fire those responsible in his administration for the health care website debacle, the IRS scandal, the death of four citizens in Benghazi, and so one.
