Obama still having a go at subverting democracy, with his short remaining time in office! With the majority of the 9/11 terrorists hailing from Saudi Arabia, why wouldn't the victims'families not wish to know more? Why is Barak not interested in the truth? And why is he not interested in stopping terrorism on American soil? Why?

They would have no standing. It's like Koreans suing Japanese companies inside Korea to make themselves feel better. It won't help anything.

But if those Japanese companies are doing business in Korea, they will be subject to Korean laws. They can either pay, or try to abandon the country without paying, but that's not so likely to happen.

Everybody was aware of who the potential beneficiaries were but nobody really had focused on the downside in terms of our international relationships

Uh, McConnell ... Obama did.....

I think everyone, especially the Rebs, are going to miss Obama a lot more than we thought. The only one in the US who looked at this issue rationally and in the interests of Americans was Obama..

The only consequences of the legislation will be that the victims will get their day in court. This has nothing do with companies, nor does it even have all that much to do with wider government of Saudi Arabia. It's about a few bad apples working within the Saudi government. It doesn't open a can of worms, it just closes a loophole.

For all those against JASTA, please answer these 3 questions with a yes or no to show that you actually know what you're talking about. Please assume JASTA had not been passed. I'll provide the answers later.

1.) A Saudi government official drives drunk and negligently kills 10 people, can Saudi Arabia be sued?

2.) A Saudi government official provides aid to a terror group within the US and the attack takes place within the US. Saudi Arabia is not on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, can Saudi Arabia be sued?

3.) A Saudi government official provides aid to a terror group outside the US but the attack takes place within the US. Saudi Arabia is not on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, can Saudi Arabia be sued?

“Everybody was aware of who the potential beneficiaries were but nobody really had focused on the downside in terms of our international relationships,” Probably because the President spent the last week explaining the pitfalls, but the GOP haven't listened to him since 2008.

All those minus down votes! Let's take a look at the status quo and see the imbalances ! If the US dances with the devil to control the world's oil trade ( in dollars ) and at the same time props up a pernicious extremist regime: wouldn't we all think that it would come back to bite one on the rump?

Well, that is what we aee seeing here......

Lets look into this quote by McConnell below a little closer.

"Everybody was aware of who the potential beneficiaries were but nobody really had focused on the downside in terms of our international relationships"

Yes they do know who the beneficiaries are and its not the victims or their families. Its the lawyers who will benefit. This is called lawyers taking care of their own. When McConnell said everybody is aware of who the benefactors are, this is just secret words to mean something else. Who is going to pay any awards from overseas? And if there was any money going around the lawyers will properly get 20 million for every one million awarded. All the victims and their families should realize that this is just another con job by the American government. Putting themselves before nation security.
