I think the Trumpets have been blindsided.

Naw, Dems just forgot their meds.

But I think Trump actually wants to be impeached, and messily. It's only way he will be remembered; we all know how vain he is. If this dosen't happen, he will just be remembered as an orange buffoon, 'Oh, THAT guy!'

I think Trump wants to be impeached because he knows it’s one of the greatest tolls to put the Dems out of commission for a very long time. Reaching for straws based on a spy who had a political bias, who is a registered Democrat and who supported one of the socialist Democrats running and all this based on second hand information not quite verified as factual, but as possible.

Yeah, the Dems jumped off a cliff and forgot to strap on their chutes, going to get messy.

Impeachment will give him notoriety and the assurance he will be remembered.

Thank God it won’t remove him. Pheeeeew!

I think the Trumpets have been blindsided.

The bare admissions in the transcipt and interviews were viewed by one reporter as a dare, or an attempt to normalize unconstitutional behavior.

Well, I was amazed at the Trumpers yesterday with their giant flip-flop on the Steele Dossier - I mean after kicking and screaming and becoming unglued that a Rep funded dossier by a foreigner was used to shovel dirt on an opponent, now we get "Hey, all is fair", after Donnie admits to asking Ukraine, and then on video invites China to interfere and get dirt on Biden.

And still no mention of a quid pro quo, no talk of money, no pressure. Ok, so what else do the Dems have in their almost empty bag of tricks?

But I'm more amazed at how Trump and Giuliani go out and confess, admit, and hand over a transcript that proves the quid-pro-quo on Ukraine in writing.

No, it doesn’t. Here is the Democrats dilemma, since no mention of money was mentioned it weakens their hands again. So Lincoln, please show us in that transcripts where it said specifically Trump spoke of using money as a leverage. No wisecrack jokes, just show us.

Now if Trump said what Biden said, you won’t get the money $2 billion I am withholding it if you don’t fire the SOB that is investigating my son. If he did that, I’d keep my mouth shut. But if you can prove it, let’s see it.

Great statement here.

What this is is a democrat socialist party 2020 campaign strategy designed to codify its far-left lunatic base.

Man I love this statement. So Awesome.

Hope Bernie recovers soon. The Democrats are off the rails. Bernie seems to keep them somewhat grounded. Whats a farce this whole thing is.

Keep working for the people Mr. President! God love you for it.

Semper Fi!

Since Trump took office the unemployment rate only decreased by 1.3%. Much greater decreases during the Obama term.

Yes, when you factor in how many people were part time workers a literal non-existent private sector or the ones that couldn’t find employment in that stagnant economy and took themselves out of the workforce and moved back home, factor in all those components and it does make sense.

Trump has added ¥2 trillion to the national debt and if he becomes a two term president he will be the first president to take the national debt over ¥30 trillion.

And then if a Democrat socialists gets in office estimates say that their first year of their radical proposals would put the US at a National Debt of $35 million just in the first term.

Broke his promise to the coalminers with 5,000 job losses. These days more yoga teachers than coalminers.

Overall and with over 289 accomplishments and growing there will be bumps, but with the economy on fire and the job market growing and the way people are spending helps the economy and is a positive sign of more great things to come.

Its almost as if they want to be impeached. And Donnie now dragging in Pence so he gets smeared and taken down too.

Its like this was the plan all along - something the Dems hatched up to destroy the Repub brand for the next 50 years. Get a known pervert, scam-artist, liar, and ego-maniac elected as a Repub, even though he has been a NY Democrat forever. Then once he's in office, have him commit a series of scandals and get caught. He gets impeached and takes down his VP too - and in the process Repubs are pariahs for the foreseeable future.

Brilliant move - whoever thought it up...

Meanwhile, the economy is booming and unemployment is at record lows.

Dems pursuing impeachment of the president amidst the working class benefitting greatly from his policies will backfire spectacularly.

President Trump, DRAIN THE SWAMP. They dare nothing for the people.

And who posts more about Hillary here - Trump supporters or anti-Trumpers?

And Who Posts more about Trump haters here? Hillary supporters or just some....any Democrat socialist running?

She lives in their heads 24/7...

Case closed....

As does Trump in the haters heads

Case closed.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

lincolnman - Three days and numerous references to Hillary by Trumpers - they just can't get her out of their heads...

Hillary's revenge...

How could anyone forget Hillary? The Hillary-worshipping news media just ran another story about ol' two-time POTUS loser Hillary just yesterday.

Hillary's revenge has been convincing her devotees to carry on her efforts to spread discontent, hate, racism, and loony conspiracy theories.

And who posts more about Hillary here - Trump supporters or anti-Trumpers?

She lives in their heads 24/7...

Precedent.

If we go by precedent, Trump should be being impeached for sleeping with Stormy Daniels.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Hillary won’t get off my TV and go back to the woods. so she is obviously running as soon as Biden and Bernie are done which is about now.

Biden is responsible for every puppy that died ever.

Except for the ones Bernie is responsible for. Which is all of them.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

from the Time article you posted:

“However, it’s ambiguous whether Pelosi’s announcement Tuesday was necessary, because starting the inquiry this way is a new precedent, and not part of the Constitution stipulations”.

So it’s not contained in the Constitution and not covered by any previous precedent if you have to call it “new”.

That equals “made up” and not constitutional.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Elected Democrats are using this latest ploy as another, in a long line of ploys, to continue their unending quest to overturn the results of a duly elected POTUS. Pelosi didn't start an actual impeachment. Pelosi only allowed the usual suspects to claim that the same Democrat controlled committees could expand their witch hunt while they're still searching for something to A) actually charge a POTUS with, and B) finally convince the voters that elected Democrats have not totally lost their collective minds.

By not calling a vote by the U.S. House, Pelosi has guaranteed that the elected Democrats procedures will be challenged in the courts.

Yes and the only reason for all this..

because they have the worst candidates to ever roam the earth, they knew none of them could take on Trump, but because of that, they needed to step up their plan, Mueller, Stormy, Comey, Cohen couldn’t deliver, so even though they’re reaching, they don’t have a clear definition of a crime, that’s not going to stop them to their own detriment.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Ok, so we have No quid pro quo of any kind recorded in the conversation. Strike one.

If they the Democrats really cared about collusion then they would at the very minimum inquire in the Biden’s.

What is the Democrats definitive articulation of abuse of power? When you look at Democrats you have a long er history of abuse of power. If the Democrats weren’t so hyper partisan, they wouldn’t demand Trump just sit there and let the Democrats try and remove him, but resist to work with Barr on inquiring about Biden and his China and Ukrainian ties.

Look, Sanders is done, he don’t know it, but that homie is out of da game. Biden next. That clock is ticking.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

zichi - Where are the rules or articles stating a vote is required for an impeachment inquiry?

Precedent.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Hillary won’t get off my TV and go back to the woods. so she is obviously running as soon as Biden and Bernie are done which is about now.

For Trump supposedly being the worst candidate and worst president ever you guys sure have worries about being able to beat him in an election. For a guy who supposedly says so many horrible things, you still have to create conversations he never had. What happened to “8 times”?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

How can Republicans not see how dangerous this is?

The only answer at this point is that they are equally or even more deranged

0 ( +2 / -2 )

So impeachment inquiries have existed since 30 Sep 2019 when Dems made it up and time magazine accepted their made up thing by writing an article about it. That’s a fail.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Trump says he will formally object to impeachment inquiry

....When Pelosi announced that the House was initiating the inquiry, she didn't seek the consent of the full chamber, as was done for impeachment investigations into former Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton.

....Pelosi swatted the need for such a vote back as unnecessary, saying the House is well within its rules to pursue the inquiry without it.

Trump allies have suggested that without a formal vote, the House is merely conducting standard oversight, entitling lawmakers to a lesser level of disclosure from the administration. The Justice Department raised similar arguments last month, though that was before Pelosi announced the impeachment investigation.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

There is no such thing as an impeachment “inquiry” that’s why there are no rules or laws about it.

There are things called “4 Pinocchio’s” which Schiff just got.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Harder said than done since although the the President will be impeached in the House, when it goes to the Senate not only will it die, Trump will have the right to subpoena anyone he wants during the trial, and that is the last things the Democrats want.

Sure, all those Repub Senators will have Trump's back....

Sen. Ron Johnson (R.-Wis.) told the Wall Street Journal that he learned of a possible quid pro quo between the Trump administration and Ukraine's government from EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland.

https://www.axios.com/ron-johnson-gordon-sondland-ukraine-quid-pro-quo-7dfccd31-7ccf-4ecc-8130-8059ab39dace.html

Republican Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah rebuked President Donald Trump on Friday over the President's call for Ukraine and China to investigate the family of former Vice President Joe Biden. "By all appearances, the President's brazen and unprecedented appeal to China and to Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden is wrong and appalling," Romney said in a statement on Friday.

https://edition.cnn.com/2019/10/04/politics/romney-trump-china-ukraine-rebuke/index.html

And this is just the inquiry....imagine once all the evidence is presented....

Donnie, you really ought to tell Melania to start scheduling the movers...

Let's see, Trump impeached, Pence forced to step down....who is third in line for the Presidency?

Hint, her first name is Nancy....

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Yeah, so as long as there’s no vote the subpoenas are nothing more than sheets of toilet paper. They’re serious are they not?

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Allan Lichtman, a history professor at American University, predicted Trump would win the last election and also the results of every presidential elections dating back to 1984.

Fortunately for many and unfortunately for some that Lichtman also predicted that Trump would be impeached. In an interview with CBC Radio posted on Oct 03, 2019, Lichtman rightly remarked about Trump, his compulsive lies, and the ultimate consequence of his behaviour:

What I found was he was a person unique among all American presidents, were he to be elected, who had no record of public service of any kind. He was someone who flouted the law. For him, lying was a way of life...

He had gotten into presidential politics with the biggest, worst, most protracted lie in U.S. political history: that our first African-American president was illegitimate, because he was born outside the U.S.

And finally, I saw someone who cared about nothing but himself. That put him on a path to impeachment...

1 ( +3 / -2 )

An impeachment can only happen if there is a vote. So vote already.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

This is all meaningless unless House Democrats actually hold a vote on the impeachment. Pelosi and her supporters simply need to put their money where their mouths are. Harder said than done since although the the President will be impeached in the House, when it goes to the Senate not only will it die, Trump will have the right to subpoena anyone he wants during the trial, and that is the last things the Democrats want.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Lock 'em all up. Lock 'em up! Lock 'em up!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I am deeply sick of Donald Trump. But the thing I’m probably most sick of is hearing about his so-called “absolute rights,” which appear to be whatever he claims they are.

But it’s ok for Democrats to pull whatever they want out of their butts to try and impeach this President on probable insinuation theories? Whatever THEY claim them to be or how they want them to be interpreted?

What is wrong with America, that we would allow an obviously deranged person continue to occupy the White House?

Why would we in America stand by and sit back and allow these socialists gear up for a coup to try and remove the President and endeavor they have promised since his inauguration that the majority of them boycotted and never worked with him from the start. If they want to pull every trick and break every law to do it, then the President should do the exact same thing.

How can Republicans not see how dangerous this is?

Because they and all conservatives see how full of crap Democrats and liberals especially when it comes to Trump, they see the danger, but we all know it’s not coming from Trump. He made be rude at times, off putting, a bit embarrassing, rude, vulgar admittedly, but dangerous? That would be the House Democrats backed by the ilks of the Deep State and the intelligence top echelon there’s your danger and good on Trump for going head-on and willing to bang that gong.

Donald Trump yesterday...

His comments come a day after he openly called for President Xi jinping to look into possible corruption by the Bidens, continuing to spread claims that no evidence has supported. Trump first appeared to link the two prospects speaking to reporters Thursday. The president asserted then that he and the U.S. would have the upper hand on China when high-stakes trade talks resume in Washington next week, saying he has “a lot of options on China” and “if they don't do what we want, we have tremendous power.”

Moments later, unprompted, he issued his invitation for China to examine whether there was wrongdoing by the Bidens.

Quid-pro-quo #2...

He's already confessed to abuse of authority twice - once in writing in the transcript, now another on video.

Trump and Rudy - doing their best to incriminate themselves...

Go Team Trump!

vote then proceed. It’s that simple.

If the Democrats want further humiliation, they definitely should go for it.

"How dare Congress try to hold me accountable for my immoral and illegal conduct. I object! A sitting president cannot be held accountable for his actions, no matter how illegal!!"

0 ( +3 / -3 )

President Donald Trump said Friday he will formally object to Congress' impeachment inquiry even as he acknowledged that House Democrats "have the votes" to proceed.

My fellow Americans, yes it is I, The Stable Genius who is your President....

This impeachment thing, its the biggest witch hunt in history. Forget about that Mueller thing (please forget about it...) - it was peanuts compared to this witch hunt.

Let me make my case....

First, don't even look at that transcript my genius lawyer told me to give out - the one where the Ukraine President says; Yes we'd like more Javelins, and I say "We would like you to do us a favor though".... And never utter the words quid-pro-quo.... I hear the Justice Dept will soon be putting put an updated transcript - just disregard the fact that it was written in Black Sharpie...

Next, don't listen to the parade of State Dept officials who complained that we were holding the military aid only to shakedown the Ukrainians to start their investigation of Biden. Not true - and just disregard all those text messages...

And I was just "joking" yesterday when I again committed an abuse of authority by inviting China to launch an investigation and interfere in our election.

And if you hear that over the next few days that I was talking to the Mullahs in Iran, the head of ISIS, and the current leaders of Al Queda to get dirt on Biden and Warren, it's not true.....

I was just joking....

It’s not enforcement of the law but a partisan attempt to overturn an election.

A perspective to be expected from those from authoritarian states, from those who don't understand democratic principles, from those pushing to undermine states that are based on democratic principles. And from those pushing for corporatist authoritarianism, perhaps a different form of national socialism, from those pushing a global alt right perspective.

Defense attorneys normally ask for charges to be dropped.   Normally frivolous, especially for repeat offenders.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

animate the president's supporters ahead of the 2020 election.

Wall Street, big finance in general, the big defense industries, big energy and the other global corporations benefitting from Trump's push for more firmly establishing corporatist authoritarianism to replace the underlying principles of the republic will be even more animated.

As will Trump's gun toting followers and other white nationalists in his base. Trump's using terms like civil war to 'animate' his base. And expect Trump's troll armies (US and 'foreign) to be even more animated. Watch the troll armies attack 'the media'.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Except this is not an impeachment inquiry. That will happen if and when a House roll call vote takes place to commit Congressional member to formally take a stand on this issue.

What this is is a democrat socialist party 2020 campaign strategy designed to codify its far-left lunatic base.

RIP, Democratic Party of JFK and Scoop Jackson.

A would-be dictator, more accurately. It's the fact that he's not able to be a dictator that gets him so antsy, because other people just won't recognise his Stable Genius and roll over for him.

The American system of checks and balances has worked fairly well until this point - but they're trying to get rid of it. One of the right-wingers here the other day specifically pointed out how they think the system of checks and balances are, and I quote, "the problem", and that they are preventing Trump from doing what he wants.

Um yeah... that's the point of checks and balances. Duh.

I just saw Trump on TV trying to pretend he was asking Ukraine to investigate, because, get this, "he's fighting corruption"!!!

The most corrupt president ever fighting corruption! I wish I could drop some laughing/crying emojis in here.

trump is not a president, trump is a dictator.

Trump says he will formally object to impeachment inquiry

And they'll still formally impeach him anyways.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

The Senate is on Trump's side. They shouldn't be based on principle, but they're spineless and have no principles.

This is one for the history books. Future generations will know more about the Trump administration than we do now, so it's important to get the Republican senators' sworn statements for why they decided not to impeach. This is going to be a black eye for the GOP.

Asking for, encouraging and accepting the aid of foreign governments, especially adversaries, in U.S. elections? What kind of shameless Americans say, "Yeah, sure! Why not?"

Foreign meddling in domestic elections (anywhere) should never be the accepted norm.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Trump says he will formally object to impeachment inquiry

I would have been surprised if he didn’t.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

No doubt that Trump has broken the law now. The only question is whether the law will be enforced.

The other worrying thing is that he is now doubling down and repeating the crime in public. He knows that he has been caught out so denial is pointless, so is instead just repeating the crime in front of the cameras and trying to normalise it.

I almost respect him for it.
