These two just can't get enough of each other.

I can understand why Trump didn't bring this up before. It's always nerve-racking to have a sit down with your boss.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

I wonder why this, meeting went undisclosed until now. Hmmmmm ;)

11 ( +11 / -0 )

So now an after dinner conversation at a scheduled gathering of international leaders is nefarious and called a "meeting"?

Its getting beyond ridiculous by now, normal people are just tuning out.

Did anyone ever find out what Obama promised Putin he would do after he got reelected? Media never bothered to follow up on that.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Get a room already! But disclose it beforehand.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

No meeting between two of the world's most powerful leaders should be undisclosed and a record of what was said and agreed should also be known. There is protocol and procedures.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Did anyone ever find out what Obama promised Putin he would do after he got reelected?

No, because he wasn't standing, remember?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Drip drip drip - that's what happens when not forthcoming

Being public servants is way different lifestyle from being private executives

(ya don't have to tell everything, but ya have to be more forthcoming with what you're doing than you're used to when you're just a private executive)

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Trump had no translator either. He will have had to rely on Putin's.

Odd doesn't begin to describe such a meeting.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

These two just can't get enough of each other.

What's the crime? At least Trump is not pushing stupid plastic makeshift buttons, jeeez!

I wonder why this, meeting went undisclosed until now. Hmmmmm ;)

Oh, stop! The only people that didn't know was the media, the Secret Service knew, they have where the president is at all times, he just can't get up and go whenever or wherever he wants to.

Looks like the MSM is having a temper tantrum again, they weren't notified and with good reason, you see once again the fallout hysteria from the left when there are nothing but rabbit holes.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Trump had no translator either. He will have had to rely on Putin's.

What a ridiculous comment. Duh! Maybe that was the point. Nothing like showing a little trust, or at least pretending to. I wonder how many G-20 leaders and their wives don't speak English?

Eh, why am I even here. The loony lefties and their tin foil hat conspiracy theories would probably believe that the translator was an alien commanding them both if CNN or the NYT said so.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

the translator for Trump only spoke Japanese and English not much use with Russian.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Fizz : What a ridiculous comment. Duh! Maybe that was the point. Nothing like showing a little trust,

From the man that clairs 9/11 was an inside job ? The poster that berates others as fools for reading the news only refuses to site his own "secure" sources.

Okey dokey.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

I wonder how many G20 leaders and their wives don't speak English?

GOP presidents are probably in the bottom 5 of G20 leaders when it comes to speaking English.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Worst president ever

8 ( +8 / -0 )

And I'm not talking about Putin.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

First, if Trump were really a decent negotiator, he would have insisted on not even having Putin’s interpreter present. Putin speaks perfectly good English.

Second, what the hockey puck? Trump had to have another meeting with literally no one else attending? What does he have to say to Putin that he’s afraid of anyone hearing him say?

At this point, it is a rebuttable presumption that Trump is compromised.

Think. About. That.

Third: in case it wasn't obvious beyond all doubt, the dead-enders will never give up on Trump. Never. It doesn't matter what you say, what facts become known. Nothing will shake them from their depraved state.

Nothing.

In fact, you'd be better off talking to a brick wall b/c at least a brick wall won't interrupt with gibberish.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

A journalist named Alberto Nardelli reported that Putin and Trump had a long chat back after the dinner on July 8th. Nobody cared.

Fake news Media changes to "undisclosed meeting" and adds that he had a non Russian speaking translator assigned to him 10 days later. New "scandal" manufactured.

@superlib thanks for reminding us of all of those things the Dems did that no one wants to talk about. Nice recap!

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Just as long as you understand that your job as a Trump foot soldier is to distract from anything he might be involved in.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

anything he might be involved in.

Whaddya mean "involved in".

Are you alluding to the secret KGB conspiracy of controlling America by installing a Manchurian candidate?

Everybody's been watching way too many James Bond movies.

Sometimes a discussion is just a discussion.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

So now an after dinner conversation at a scheduled gathering of international leaders is nefarious and called a "meeting"?

The article never said this meeting was nefarious. Make no mistake, it was a meeting. Since words have meanings, we have to be careful when using words.

meeting

ˈmiːtɪŋ/

noun

a situation when two or more people meet, by chance or arrangement.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Looks like the MSM is having a temper tantrum again, they weren't notified and with good reason, you see once again the fallout hysteria from the left when there are nothing but rabbit holes.

You'd think POTUS would have enough sense to have disclosed this promptly given the situation with the multiple investigations regarding himself, his campaign, and Russia. It's Calle being reasonable and prudent in an attempt to not allow speculation about the meeting.

I wonder how many other heads of state at this dinner chatted for an hour.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Eh, why am I even here. The loony lefties and their tin foil hat conspiracy theories would probably believe that the translator was an alien commanding them both if CNN or the NYT said so.

This comment is offensive to all the posters who identify as being on the left.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

You'd think POTUS would have enough sense to have disclosed this promptly given the situation with the multiple investigations regarding himself, his campaign, and Russia.

If the POTUS was qualified, he would have.

They wanted an unqualified POTUS, then they whine when people point out the mistakes he makes because he is unqualified.

They sure don't like lying in that bed they made.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

They wanted an unqualified POTUS, then they whine when people point out the mistakes he makes because he is unqualified.

They sure don't like lying in that bed they made.

Hear, hear.

The 112 million yen question is: What has Trump done that his supporters disagreed with? I ask in all honesty because we have never once read them criticize Trump, not a single time.

At this point, it is a rebuttable presumption that Trump is compromised.

Exaclty, though I would add the burden of rebuttal is on POTUS. (Black Sabbath: Have you been to law school?)

4 ( +4 / -0 )

You'd think POTUS would have enough sense to have disclosed this promptly given the situation with the multiple investigations regarding himself, his campaign, and Russia.

Why? Everyone knew in the room and if the MSM didn't know, who cares? All they seem capable of doing is jump on the president for everything, I'm just surprised they didn't cover him using the restroom or which fork to use.

The only people that needed to know were the secret service and that's enough.

The media loons crack me up and then they all wonder why people are shutting them off. It's just one big echo chamber from Russia, Russia, Russia....these guys

If the POTUS was qualified, he would have.

We could have elected a Bush or a Clinton and everyone was tired of these career nut jobs.

They wanted an unqualified POTUS, then they whine when people point out the mistakes he makes because he is unqualified.

They sure don't like lying in that bed they made.

I sleep very well at night, if anything, I blame both parties and especially congress, that's where my vitriol comes in.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

We could have elected a Bush or a Clinton and everyone was tired of these career nut jobs.

No, not 'everyone' was tired of them. In fact, only 20% of the population voted for Trump, and less than half of those who did vote, voted for Trump. Not only does that not mean 'everyone' was tired of them, you cannot even say most of the people were tired of them.

But that all said, tired or not, look what voting for someone who wasn't qualified for the job has led to. An absolute failure, who despite being the leader of the party that has control of both houses and the presidency, cannot even get legislation passed. And he is unable to conduct himself in a manner that doesn't end up in having to put out fires like this one - something anyone actually qualified for the job would have known better not to do.

I sleep very well at night

And yet, you are here complaining about the fact that people are criticizing the president for something he should be criticized for. So I suspect you don't know the meaning of 'lying in the bed you made', as it has nothing to do with how well you sleep at night.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

No they weren't, and you're clearly wrong about the electoral college seeing as Trump was chosen by the electoral college even though the people were not tired of career politicians.

Yeah, they were? I don't see Dems anywhere in power except where the salty ocean rests. The people in both parties were tired of the establishment otherwise Clinton or Bush would have won. The outsider phenomenon was a clear repudiation off the last 8 years.

And yet you're still complaining that people are pointing out his failures.

Complaining and being unhappy are not the same thing. I hate mayo on my burger, but I love a Good Whopper.

Clearly you don't understand the meaning, or you wouldn't have been speaking of sleeping.

Oh, indeed I do, and I do sleep well at night.

And you know what is great? Polling shows Clinton is still more unfavorable than Trump and he would stlll beat her again if the election was held today.

Two leaders talked after dinner. trump went to pick up his wife who was seated next to Putin. His translator spoke Japanese because he was seated next to a Japanese speaking person.

As president he has the right and duty to talk to anyone who he needs to or wants to. He has no obligation to provide the media a word for word transcript of what was discussed. They get mad so they make up nonsense and speculation.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

And you know what is great? Polling shows Clinton is still more unfavorable than Trump and he would stlll beat her again if the election was held today.

Pretty much! Spot on, but the problem is, the people have zero trust in either party and from now on, the outsider might not be just a one time fling.

As president he has the right and duty to talk to anyone who he needs to or wants to. He has no obligation to provide the media a word for word transcript of what was discussed. They get mad so they make up nonsense and speculation.

The media needs something to satisfy their hunger for ANY story on Trump, whatever it is.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

As president he has the right and duty to talk to anyone who he needs to or wants to. He has no obligation to provide the media a word for word transcript of what was discussed.

But if/when he doesn't, it turns into an incident like this.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Why?

Jeesz I don't know . . . So he wouldn't have to deal with stories like this? Because he's under a cloud of suspicion regarding Russia and the reasonable thing to do is not feed into that. It's really not difficult to understand why immediate disclosure would have benefitted him.

The media loons crack me up

Journalists are part of the media, so . . .

I blame both parties

Really? I challenge you to cut and paste instances in which ypu've blamed the Republican Party.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Polling shows Clinton is still more unfavorable than Trump and he would stlll beat her again if the election was held today.

But we all know how inaccurate polling is, correct? Wait, you're one of the posters that decries polling, the media, intelligence agencies, and experts unless they support your views.

He has no obligation to provide the media a word for word transcript of what was discussed.

And nobody is asking for a transcript. See my 11:52 to post for why it would have been intelligent to have immediately disclosed this meeting. I know, he lacks intelligence so doing the intelligent thing is near impossible for him.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Complaining and being unhappy are not the same thing. I hate mayo on my burger, but I love a Good Whopper.

Proof positive that we are dealing with a real journalist.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

I dont want to bother to get into polling again except to

not answer questions about why you only trust polls that support your position.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Got it. So if you like the result of the poll, the results are to be trusted, but if you don't like them, they aren't.

Seems legit.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

My answer was deleted, so I guess Im not allowed to answer your question.

People are tired of the Dems and the media grasping at straws for anything Russian. Time to move on.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Trump supporters are in the minority.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

People are tired of the Dems and the media grasping at straws for anything Russian. Time to move on.

You're not seeing the wood for the trees. The reason that everyone other than the wilfully blind (or blinded) Trump faithful are so concerned about Russia isn't that it's an excuse for the Dems losing; it's that Russia is waging asymmetrical war on the US, the EU, and NATO. Hacking or attempting to hack elections (plural), hacking sensitive data wherever they can, hacking critical infrastructure (read up on the Ukraine blackouts), funding political extremists, pushing their propaganda in western media (RT) while blocking foreign media outlets in Russia, flooding Twitter and English-language message boards with disinformation from bots and trolls, unilaterally annexing Crimea and instigating & perpetuating conflict in Donbas, propping up Asad ("our interests in Syria exactly align with Russia?" Really, Rex? So you like Asad now, the conduit from Iran to Hezbollah? Sure about that?), brazenly murdering a string of political opponents on foreign soil e.g. Litvinenko (and even more on their own soil), and doing everything they can to undermine western democracy, the NATO alliance, and the EU.

This is why Russia is such a cause for concern.

The reason Trump is such a cause for concern re Russia is that his words and acts since taking office (and perhaps since before doing so, as will hopefully be established either way in due course) have been aiding Russia.

That's why undeclared meetings are an issue.

Time to move on, you say? Russia is going to keep doing all this regardless of whether we 'move on'. But if we do just move on and sweep it under the carpet, it only makes it easier for Putin.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

This is why Russia is such a cause for concern.

I can understand that those issues/policies you mentioned are or could be a concern. Yet, the media/Dems is not focusing on those, only playing political games. So we should allow Russia and the USA to begin to create a relationship between the two countries and the two leaders in order to start dealing with issues, right? If we dont talk, we cant share information, discuss and come to consensus.

Yet everytime Trump even tries to speak to Putin as part of his Presidential duties, media/Dems just go right back to partisan politics. Seriously, what is he supposed to do in public settings, totally ignore the guy? Refuse to shake his hand? How does that help anything? How can Trump and Putin build a strong, mutually beneficial relationship where Trump and his team can start to influence him in the right directions if they are never allowed to even talk to any Russia at all?

I dont remember that Obama conversations with world leaders were so heavily scrutinized or had transcripts of phone calls leaked. Stop playing partisan politics and let the elected world leaders get down to the issues at hand.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Get some rest, черный.

A busy few days of apologism obfuscation and deceit ahead of you with the three stooges testifying in front of the Senate...

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I dont remember that Obama conversations with world leaders were so heavily scrutinized or had transcripts of phone calls leaked.

That's because the Russians didn't meddle in those elections to assist Obama, Obama's campaign wasn't under investigation for possible collusion/didn't meet with Russians and lie about it, and Obama didn't publicly call on the Russians to hack his opponent.

Did you really not know this?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

How can Trump and Putin build a strong, mutually beneficial relationship where Trump and his team can start to influence him in the right directions

Looks like the influence is in the exact opposite direction, with Trump parroting the Kremlin propaganda line on matters of US foreign policy re Europe & Middle East. Trump isn't influencing Putin, he's capitulating to him.

if they are never allowed to even talk to any Russia at all?

Straw man. Of course they're 'allowed' to talk to the Russians; of course, they should be. Rather a problem though to do so, then pretend otherwise, then admit you did. Repeatedly.

I dont remember that Obama conversations with world leaders were so heavily scrutinized or had transcripts of phone calls leaked

I remember Obama actually calling Putin out.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Did you really not know there is a thing called innocent until proven guilty? Investigation is not over, dont come to any conclusions YET, right? (as some of you here love to say).

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

In the meantime our elected President is within his rights to do his duties and speak to anyone he wants about anything he wants.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

*Did you really not know there is a thing called innocent until proven guilty? Investigation is not over, dont come to any conclusions YET, right? (as some of you here love to say).*

If this was directed at me, you'd do well to re-read my post as I never claimed Trump was guilty of anything.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

In the meantime our elected President is within his rights to do his duties and speak to anyone he wants about anything he wants.

Nobody is disputing this. We are disputing the wisdom of Trump not disclosing contacts with Russians given the circumstances he's created for himself. Why are you trying to twist our words around?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I remember Obama actually calling Putin out.

Oh yeah that really put the fear of God into Putin when 'Mr. Lead From Behind' told him to knock it off. Did no action after supposedly calling him out, so whats the point?

Straw man. Of course they're 'allowed' to talk to the Russians; of course, they should be. Rather a problem though to do so, then pretend otherwise, then admit you did. Repeatedly.

No, every Russian that speaks in Trump circles is presented by the media as some type of nefarious counter intelligence agent. Even the US citizen 'Russian'. But the ones that donated money to the Clinton Foundation, they are perfectly fine of course.

If they are allowed to talk, why the big deal about Putin and Trump talking after dinner? Next they will want a full transcript of what he and Melania talked about as Trump is obviously using her to pass information. its beyond ridiculous by now.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Why would Trump have to disclose that he spoke to Putin after the G20 dinner? Everyone knew they were both there. Everyone knew his wife was seated next to Putin. It is quite obvious they would have spoken at some point, and in fact was the purpose of the whole G20 meeting itself, for leaders to speak to each other. Media reported it the day after it happened and was silence about it. Until a new manufactured scandal was needed, and thats all they have left.

Well now that Trump Jr, Manafort and Kushner are testifying the media can start their countdown clocks again praying for the smoking gun they are so desperate for. But sooner or later, the Clinton people are going to have to testify under oath too.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Oh yeah that really put the fear of God into Putin when 'Mr. Lead From Behind' told him to knock it off. Did no action after supposedly calling him out, so whats the point?

You are referring to one specific incident last year. I was not; I was referring to Ukraine, to Syria, to the Baltics, etc, over a period of years. The point is that Trump is undermining US allies to the benefit of Russia, whereas Obama stood by US allies to present a united front to Russia.

every Russian that speaks in Trump circles is presented by the media as some type of nefarious counter intelligence agent

Haha. Some of them actually are.

Why are you banging on about Clinton? It really isn't relevant to Trump folding to Putin.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Oh yeah that really put the fear of God into Putin when 'Mr. Lead From Behind' told him to knock it off.

According to you all, there was no reason for Obama to do anything. If Trump should be able to engage Putin, as you just mentioned, why wouldn't it have been okay for Obama to?

"Mr. Lead From Behind." Very sophisticated. At least he was leading instead of tweeting.

Did no action after supposedly calling him out, so whats the point?

And sanctions. And booting 35 "diplomats" out of the country. And seizing two Russian compounds. But yeah, that was nothing.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

So I support the President's decision to continue to build his own relationships with Putin and Russia as he is allowed to do as the elected President.

A relationship in which one party (Trump) is on his knees in front of the other party. Sounds like a great way to make America great again. MAGMA!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

lovin the resident journalist's punctuation.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Yes, you can do something but doing nothing. Same as you can answer a question with no answer.

Hope thats not too deep for you.

This is the only hit topic available on Trump, so much so it just had another article opened about this same exact dinner conversation. Media just running out of scandals to push.
