Was U.S. ever on track in Iraq? Enterting and leaving at will, thousands killed, Mission Accomplished !

"Enterting and leaving at will, thousands killed"

Hundreds of thousands. At the very least.

Though an Iraqi general seems to think the army is far from ready to take over in direct contrast with the Whitehouse appraisal.....demanding troops remain till 2020.

Combat operations ended about 5 years ago.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yes, get them out before the bombs fall on Iran.

"Combat operations ended about 5 years ago"

Yeah?

That sounds like politician speak to me. Somebody should tell them combat is on-going....

"There continues to be terrorists in Iraq"

This wouldn't be the case if that cowboy bush hadn't ordered that illegal invasion, LOL.

"This wouldn't be the case if that cowboy bush hadn't ordered that illegal invasion, LOL."

Uhm, yes, that's correct.

Though I imagine you're one of a slect few having "LOL"'s about the body-count.

Anybody know the monetary cost of the Iraq war?

Once again the proof is in the pudding. Since the war on terror hit high gear- just how many major acts of terrorism have we witnessed ? No more 9/11's, bus bombings in London, train bombings in Spain... nothing ! The US policy to shift the war to the homeland of terrorist organizations has been a bona fide success... and who are any of you to argue otherwise, sitting there in your little pint sized apartments, all safe and secure ! Ohhh, the irony of it all.

" Since the war on terror hit high gear- just how many major acts of terrorism have we witnessed ? No more 9/11's, bus bombings in London, train bombings in Spain... nothing"

Spain and London happened well after the so-called war on terror "hit high gear".

And how many has terror attacks has Iraq experienced sine the invasion?

As per 0 attacks before March 2003?

GW you might be wrong 8 billion USD is unaccounted for so those who have some of it, might say you are wrong, the private army's that the Bush administration employed, will also say you are wrong, the puppet government in Iraq will say you are wrong, the huge amount of military weapons developed by the major US companies and sold to the government, with of course tax payers money will say you are wrong.

"Spain and London happened well after the so-called war on terror "hit high gear".

I would disagree.

"And how many has terror attacks has Iraq experienced sine the invasion?"

Seems someone has completely forgotten about that little war with Iran ???

Yes indeed, in madverts world all was quiet and peaceful in Iraq before them big ugly Americans stormed in. Pure fantasy is it not ?

All he is doing is changing the labels. American military will still be there doing essentially the same as usual, but he simply no longer calls it "combat".

Obama promises change, but he is more the same.

Once again the proof is in the pudding. Since the war on terror hit high gear- just how many major acts of terrorism have we witnessed ?

Yeah, the US no longer needed a terrorist attack (to start a war).

"Obama promises change, but he is more the same."

As are you- sitting there in the safe comfort of your 300 square foot Japanese aparto posting away about the evils of Americans- not even remotely grasping the irony of it all. Maybe a few more attacks on Japanese tankers by islamic terrorists this winter will shake you from your malaise. But then again...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"I would disagree"

I'm sure you would since it makes your position a little ridiculous, the attacks you cite happening 3 or 4 years after the launch of the so-called war on terror and all.

"Seems someone has completely forgotten about that little war with Iran ???"

A war aided and abetted by your "big ugly Americans" when Sdaddam was their man and that had nothing to do with terrorism. Heh, please feel free to add as many subjects as you can from this point on in the time-honoured, deperatley obfuscating position of the back-peddler....

Nothing you can come up with will change the fact that the invasion of Iraq turned the place into a hot-bed of terrorist activity, with literally thousands of attacks since 2003 causing utter carnage and abject misery for the people who live there.

Happy Denial! :)

The funniest thing about your claims, Branded, is that both the terrorist attrocities you cite were attacks by Islamists as a direct result of Spain and Britain's involvement in Iraq.

Shake that angry fist madverts... shake it !

"A war aided and abetted by your "big ugly Americans" when Sdaddam was their man"

The US "aids and abetts" many nations around the world- since when does that give them the right to turn on US interests ??? Saddam turned traitor and was dealt with accordingly- at the hands of his people. Sorry to see your sympathetic leaning towards Saddam and his ways has left you scarred- I'm sure you'll eventually get over it though.

And no- the funniest thing about your claims:

"the terrorist attrocities you cite were attacks by Islamists as a direct result of Spain and Britain's involvement in Iraq."

Maybe I should have included more about the Dutch film director Theo van Gogh ? Now there was an "attrocity"... and what exactly was the Dutch involvement ???

Happy Denial ! :*)

Angry?

Heh, I' laughing at you arguement, or lack of. At least try to remain on topic.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"remain on topic." ??? I thought the topic was combat in Iraq... an ongoing branch of the war on terror... terror experienced world-wide in places like the US, Britain, Spain, Amsterdam, etc. How more on topic can I be ? Maybe it is you madverts that simply can't connect the dots. See what all that fist shaking leads to... unsteady eyes ! Too funny.

@ medievaltimes - Anybody know the monetary cost of the Iraq war?

The direct cost of the Iraq + Afhan war is currently running at 1 trillion USD and counting. Aproximate 700 billion for Iraq. The current best esimate is that the 2 wars will eventually cost the taxpaers 1.5 trillion. Including indirect costs, more respected estimates say it would be 3 trillion or more. As a taxpayer I can only say this feels like going in for a prostate exam and the doctor says bend over...except this is done by the politicians with much fatter fingers instead of the doctor.

I am not sure I can pay much more, but judging by the comments in some U.S. news forums my fellow Americans love to pay the bills for more weapons and more wars. I sure hope they make more than I do and pay more taxes than I do. Somehow I doubt it though.

The following is a link to a war cost counter. And there are plenty of national deficit counters out there too. One is attached.

Given the political deadlock in Iraq I'd like to hear Obama talk more about how he's going to solve that issue as more US troops leave. It seems that issue hasn't been on his radar in quite a while.

As for the troops, I'd prefer to see the military commanders on the ground agree with any decisions that are made.

What exactly does President Obama know about soldiers, armies and leading an Army? Was he even born in the USA? He certainly did not grow up in that country, and spent his formative years growing up in a foreign country. How can he say with authority when the US Army should begin or cease its role in any situation?

I fear for America under this man`s leadership. He listens to no-one. He is arrogant, gets all the air time he wants, yet no-one dare question his intelligent or his judgement. Look what happened to the best General the USA ever had, quite recently, because he dared question Barak Hussein Obama!

We will wait and see the results of Obama`s decision to put the troops back in barracks. Time will tell, but as a non-American, I have no confidence in this man or any of his decisions, which ultimately affect us all.

Bring our troops home. We should never have gone to war with Iraq.

Bring out troops home. This was a war put together by liars and back stabbers. This war was started exclusively to fill tankers with oil for george bush and dick cheney.

Bring the troops home. We have lost too many young men and women due to the dreams of a 5 time draft dodger and a Air National Guard dropout. It was for personal interest and personal greed.

This war needs to end and all our troops brought home. <:-)

"We should never have gone to war with ( liberate ) Iraq"

Yes, it would have been vastly better to continue to let Iraq fester under Saddam Hussein, LOL.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Better for the US, yes, for the time being. Better for Iraqis, maybe not. But who cares about Iraqis - US is priority #1 for America (why can't Americans see that?).

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Better for the US...

No, it is only better for a few gangsters at the top, but it is bad for America.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sarge,

Yes, it would have been vastly better to continue to let Iraq fester under Saddam Hussein, LOL.

They would be better off now if we had never invaded Iraq. Millions who have died, 2 million refuges, the whole infrastructure destroyed, a $Trillion wasted and 1000s of US military uselessly killed. Homes, neighborhoods, cities, lives... foreign and domestic killed.

10 years after we get out of Iraq and Afghanistan and there will still be horrendous terrorism inside these countries. 10 years after we leave Afghanistan and you'll see the exact same country you saw 15 years ago. < :-)
