So, the cases in Africa, with a low vaccine take up rate and lack of vaccines compared with 1st world countries fall 11%?

Startling news!

In fact, this news needs a separate article…

In fact, this news needs a separate article…

Given how easily information can be found these days, thanks to a free press and what some call 'big tech' news stories of every kind, reported in an array of ways to suit every belief system and opinion , can be easily found. JT is NOT the only source for information and news. And can you believe there are many, mostly pro-authoritarian right wingers, who constantly curse a free press, especially when news is reported from perspectives they might not agree with.

I imagine there are billions of people around the world now living under far right authoritarian regimes where all news and information is slanted to reflect the authoritarian's viewpoints who would much prefer having the freedom to choose their sources of information rather than just hearing and reading what the regime wants them to hear and read.

Alternate headline:

"Covid deaths drop across Asia, Europe and Africa".

But I guess that would not sell enough newspapers.

When pandemic moves to endemic!

That's a wrap folks. Pack it up, open it up and let's move on!

“AP tells staff to 'avoid emphasizing' COVID case counts amid shift in covering pandemic”

Can’t decrease the number of cases and it’s hurting politicians? Just stop reporting it, problem solved!

Exactly as predicted. The "case" and "death" curves in South Africa have completely decoupled, and we see the same everywhere. Omicron is massively infectios but not very lethal.

So the media will try to focus on "cases" to keep the narrative going, and ignore the low and sinking death rates.

*Commented in a note from "the media" that specifically mentions deaths as stable...

Another anti free-press, anti-market complaint from the far right. If people do not like news organizations to make money selling papers to their respective markets, they can switch to a state run source like RT or to Saudi Arabia's Arab News, or any from China, where the money goes directly to the authoritarian regime, not to a private sector enterprise. Not surprisingly, but odd nonetheless, many of the same people who complain about a free-press are among those shouting 'freedom'.

...or state run sources like the BBC, CBC, NHK and the like. All seem to be invested in the name narrative, funnily enough.

Not sure why you would classify me as 'far right' though. Care to explain? Would it be my anti-war stance? Support for equal rights? Disdain for the 1/6 rioters?

And even more studies emerge that confirm the unvaccinated are multiple times more likely to be hospitalized or die from COVID....in this study 13 times more likely....

The Omicron rollout is doing quite well, and it's nice to see that it is effective at decreasing cases of Delta.

Why did you complain about selling newspapers, but then exclusively cite television channels?

The Omicron rollout is doing quite well, and it's nice to see that it is effective at decreasing cases of Delta.

Calling the hospitalizations and deaths something that goes "quite well" evidence a complete lack of empathy with the patients and their families. Specially for someone that consider the much more limited and infrequent problems with the vaccines excessive. Double standars that comes from not having a genuine interest on public health but the opposite.

Sister, 'selling papers' was just a metaphor for gaining attention and viewers/advertisers. Perhaps my age is showing...

Oh, so you would rather have Delta stick around to hospitalize and kill many more than Omicron will. And you would also rather continue to have people injected with risky and obsolete "vaccines". How many of those deaths you are referring to are from Omicron.

This isn't an issue for state broadcasters, though. Who are the ones you cited. Do you know how state broadcasting works?

No, that is only the position of deeply antiscientific people, the actual alternative is to have as much people vaccinated (and if necessary boosted) to prevent cases from both.

Having been infected by Omicron do not guarantee the person will not be infected later by any of the other variants, infection by omicron increase the immunity against delta mediocrily when compared with boosters from the COVID vaccines, this means that omicron would be much more obsolete than them.

How many of those deaths you are referring to are from Omicron.

South African experts that you have used as a reference and consider them sources that can be trusted say over 10,000 excess deaths to Omicron, saying these deaths are things going "quite well" is just dangerous disinformation. Having the population vaccinated would have prevented the majority of these according to the best available scientific evidence.

You said the vaccine doesn’t prevent COVID. In fact you adamantly claimed “no one” has ever said that.

You said the vaccine doesn’t prevent COVID. In fact you adamantly claimed “no one” has ever said that.

If you need to imagine people saying things they never did so you can contradict them that just mean you can't do anything against what they actually did say.

The vaccines do an excellent job preventing COVID, which is the disease. Did you get confused against between infection and disease? think again on HIV and AIDS, that will help you.
