This is an interesting statement

"What we found, as a general principle - not a general principle, a pretty robust principle - is that it doesn't help to to restrict movement,”

If China did in fact pass the peak and defeat this virus the restriction of movement of the population was a key weapon in the arsenal.

He just had to suck up to China, it's CHINA'S fault in the first place that this has become such an issue.

If they didn't try to cover it up and went defensive immediately, they could've had curbed SOME of the spread. They could've shared their knowledge with other countries.

If the Italian government wasn't part of the belt & road initiative, and so far up China's behind that you could hardly even see em', MAYBE they would've canceled incoming flights from China sooner.

Money. That's the root cause for all of the things that went wrong. Money and greed and self-interests, are what lead to all of the above, and the extreme inaction in Europe. USA is struggling because big-pharma still refuses to cover the cost of treatment so the average American, or many of them, are withholding going in for a check.

Taiwan whom won't let China bully them, nor the corruption of the WHO (cause they're barred from both) is the leading nation on Earth, along with Singapore, in containing this virus.

So after all this is said and done, I say it's way due to throw some politicians on the bond fire and drain the napalm.

He acknowledged that “people are confused” about the virus

Surprise surprise. When there are so many conflicting reports circulating, when there are NO government leaders anywhere who are trustworthy, when leaders are more concerned about their public image and their investments than they are about their citizen's health, people will be confused.

Nothing to be done about authoritarian systems like China, Russia, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc. They're unfortunately stuck; can't choose new leaders.

'Western' democracies, on the other hand can still choose their leaders. A first consideration when doing so is looking at how honest each politician. Politicians with extensive histories of lying should be voted out of office.

Testing, testing, testing-Japan is not hearing that...

Totally wrong!!

If the Chinese had acknowledged this outbreak and introduced travel bans in December, this would have been a small localized issue.

Travel bans don't prevent it? That's delirious.

Almost immediately after the outbreak occurred in China, Russia imposed an inbound travel ban on people entering from there.

And Russia has had a grand total of 28 coronavirus cases as of yesterday.

So I don't think anyone should believe this nonsense that "travel bans don't work."

Mongolia, Singapore, and a few other countries also took action similar to that of Russia. They have not had a major coronavirus problem either.

Those countries understand through previous experiences not to trust the Chinese government or Chinese tourists.

Testing, testing, testing-Japan is not hearing that...

Japan and the US are both purposely not testing to keep the numbers low. The UK reported recently that it s likely that 5,000-10,000 people are likely infected.

Guess what? The US avoided travel bans for the UK and Ireland because he has failing golf courses in both countries.

Fauci in the US is now at least acknowledging they have screwed up on testing to date and are making efforts to fix it. Japan on the other hand... I think we all know we'll hear no such admission. In a few weeks from now we'll have Abe suddenly urging for more tests. Too little too late.

Travel bans can't stop the spread of this virus but they can slow it down. And that's a good thing. By reducing the number of possible transmissions you can reduce the rate of new infections. Reducing the rate at which the disease enters the population allows the emergency response apparatus to focus its resources on a smaller number of people, at a given time, spread out over an extended period.
