Well no duh its spreading rapidly in Austraila and other southern hemisphere regions. It is winter down there. As long as the govt doesnt freak out in Japan and elsewhere all will be well.

This will sadden the Japanese ministers who wanted the level REDUCED because it was hurting the economy. I guess it's panick time here again soon.... I'm going to buy a bunch of masks to sell later.

Anyway, people, drink your orange juice and get a decent night's sleep. If you get sick, rest.

"Most who catch the bug have only mild symptoms and don’t need medical treatment."

People take note.

Shouldn't they have made the common cold a pandemic by their reasoning?

I predict that as soon as the election is called the LDP will have the little men in masks and white suits boarding inbound aircraft at Narita again.

Why have a circus when you can have politicians?

WHO succumbed to the demands of Japan and some other countries, who did not want the phase raised to 6. We were in a pandemic already 2-3 weeks ago.

Statistician: that will not happen, thanks to some bright politicians, such as Masuzoe.

bamboohat: Maybe you should check first what their reasoning is.

bamboohat-

Shouldn't they have made the common cold a pandemic by their reasoning?

What reasoning is that?

The WHO criteria for a pandemic:

A newly emergent disease Causes serious illness Easily transmitted between humans Transmission levels are sustained.

Explain how the common cold fits those criteria.

Everyone stay at least 2kms away for your homes. Stats prove more people die close to home or at home then anywhere else. Staying with the mistress is not a good idea unless it's not her home. Quick, buy shares in Hotels, Love Hotels, etc. as everyone will avoid public gatherings to avoid the Pig Flu and stay away from home to reduce further losses.

KnowBetter: I don't understand. First you claim that people die at home, but then they die anywhere else. How can somebody die twice?

I am just curious why cannot see the Japanese numbers.. After the outbreak, the last number I saw in media was about 150-200 cases. Then somehow so many other important news came up that the is no place for flu.

ViginJapan: around 550.
