So the "virus escaped from the lab" conspiracy theory would need to explain how the virus managed to not only escape the laboratory, but also a highly populated city without causing outbreaks, then go to more rural areas where slowly spread between patients until it came back again to the city, this time causing a very obvious cluster that raised the alarm (and was mismanaged horribly by the authorities until it was too late to stop it there). So, it would need to explain how COVID-19 behaved much more like a natural transmission from a wild animal reservoir than coming from a lab.

That would be important for China, because it would make impossible to prove they did a good job with managing the initial cases of the pandemic, but for the WHO delegation the purpose is more scientific than political. Which is probably why the CCP let it enter the country. It would not be relevant for the scientist to find out who exactly is to blame for each misstep, they are searching for clues about how the disease got into humans on the first place, how the jump was made, if there was a slow adaptation to humans on the first cases or the human to human transmission was high from the beginning, etc.

Unless China burns out the whole province there is no way to destroy all the evidence that the scientific field survey is interested in.

Only if by substantiated you mean debunked, the research done on coronavirus in China and in every other lab of the world predicted a completely different way for the adaptation to happen, SARS-CoV-2 went for the chaotic inefficient way to reach the same result. So if anything the research published would prove that if the virus were artificially created it would have been a very different one.

It also does absolutely nothing to explain the magical virus that can avoid making any trouble on a very populated city, mimicking exactly what happens when a pathogen comes from nature, as it has happened countless times. It is not so frequent that reality can prove so completely a conspiracy theory as irrational as in this case.

You don't need to assume - they do get payment for services on behalf of the CCP. You do realize that the WHO is funded by the governments of various countries don't you? You're not just speaking rhetoric without even knowing how it works, are you?

What I'd like to know for those that criticize the WHO for treading carefully with the CCP, how exactly are they supposed to be political with the CCP and still be allowed to operate in China, which has roughly 1/5 of humanity? Or do you think they should be political, and accept not being allowed to operate in China? And if so, do think the hit that world health would take by crippling the ability of the WHO to operate within 1/5 of humanity would be worth the cost just to point out the ridiculousness of China? And why is it you think that a health organization should prioritize political ideology over world health (you know, that thing they put in their very name)?
