I asked that the international scientists get the support, access & data needed, and the chance to engage fully with their Chinese counterparts," he said.

I asked...that will surely work in China.

engage fully with their Chinese counterparts...

...who are all either completely brainwashed or set under the highest pressure and thread from the CCP to NOT tell the truth.

The problem for this investigation is, it comes after one year.

China had enough time to destroy all evidences and bring key persons to silence!

The Huanan market, which remains boarded up, is believed to have been the outbreak's first major cluster.

It is very important to understand this, the market is the first major cluster identified, but not the site of the first human cases, which have been found already some time before this event.

So the "virus escaped from the lab" conspiracy theory would need to explain how the virus managed to not only escape the laboratory, but also a highly populated city without causing outbreaks, then go to more rural areas where slowly spread between patients until it came back again to the city, this time causing a very obvious cluster that raised the alarm (and was mismanaged horribly by the authorities until it was too late to stop it there). So, it would need to explain how COVID-19 behaved much more like a natural transmission from a wild animal reservoir than coming from a lab.

China had enough time to destroy all evidences and bring key persons to silence!

That would be important for China, because it would make impossible to prove they did a good job with managing the initial cases of the pandemic, but for the WHO delegation the purpose is more scientific than political. Which is probably why the CCP let it enter the country. It would not be relevant for the scientist to find out who exactly is to blame for each misstep, they are searching for clues about how the disease got into humans on the first place, how the jump was made, if there was a slow adaptation to humans on the first cases or the human to human transmission was high from the beginning, etc.

Unless China burns out the whole province there is no way to destroy all the evidence that the scientific field survey is interested in.

My opinion is that this virus had started its course in September / November 2019 and was well on its international flooding of the world through airline travel.

@SandyBeachHeaven

yeah, I think no one disproves that. There were news in November already https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/13/world/asia/plague-china-pneumonic.html

Li Jifeng is the name.

Meanwhile, the Wuhan Institute of Virology houses a virus testing facility which was weaponised by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who until his final days in office pushed the unsubstantiated theory that the virus escaped from there.

Oh, the Wuhan Institute of Virology's role in creating the virus is very substantiated. Their researchers have a number of papers describing their successful gain of function research. Unfortunately, I am sure they thoroughly removed all incriminating evidence.

Stop with your facts and science. You always destroy the stupidity that makes things fun for the lowly educated.

Indeed, she uses fancy words that the "lowly educated" might believe represent "facts and science" and capable of destroying other people's views.

If China has nothing to hide then I’d hope they are allowing unfettered access to whatever the WHO team need.

Yes we need to know how it transmitted but also where it came from.

Only if by substantiated you mean debunked, the research done on coronavirus in China and in every other lab of the world predicted a completely different way for the adaptation to happen, SARS-CoV-2 went for the chaotic inefficient way to reach the same result. So if anything the research published would prove that if the virus were artificially created it would have been a very different one.

It also does absolutely nothing to explain the magical virus that can avoid making any trouble on a very populated city, mimicking exactly what happens when a pathogen comes from nature, as it has happened countless times. It is not so frequent that reality can prove so completely a conspiracy theory as irrational as in this case.

Covid 19 story is a text book example how communist manipulate clear facts in their favor. To invite WHO "investigation" one year after the virus has spread from Wuhan to the rest of the world is a joke.

I assume the reps from WHO will receive their usual payments for their services on behalf of the CCP.

You don't need to assume - they do get payment for services on behalf of the CCP. You do realize that the WHO is funded by the governments of various countries don't you? You're not just speaking rhetoric without even knowing how it works, are you?

What I'd like to know for those that criticize the WHO for treading carefully with the CCP, how exactly are they supposed to be political with the CCP and still be allowed to operate in China, which has roughly 1/5 of humanity? Or do you think they should be political, and accept not being allowed to operate in China? And if so, do think the hit that world health would take by crippling the ability of the WHO to operate within 1/5 of humanity would be worth the cost just to point out the ridiculousness of China? And why is it you think that a health organization should prioritize political ideology over world health (you know, that thing they put in their very name)?

It's very confusing. These people talk as if they know what they're talking about, but they always dodge the above issue... Very telling.
