Why haven’t the U.S. and China agreed to restore military contacts?

Because China’s the one flagrantly breaking all of the rules & promises? It’s not in communist China’s interests to abide by international laws.

Why haven't China and the U.S. agreed to restore military contacts?

China is enjoying its status as a first class superpower relying on manufacturing instead of wars. They will contact you when they want to contact you. Stop calling like a jilted stalker. Busy with Palestine and EU right now.

There’s a lot going on in EU. Due to high energy costs, building factories in China and other deals are keeping everyone busy. The U.S.?

Hunter Biden ‘s lap top. Hunter Biden’s taxes and guns and other imbecilic matters.

Why haven't China and the U.S. agreed to restore military contacts?

The truth is war between the two nation is highly unlikely. Military contact is low in priority. If you want to invest on the other hand, I’m sure they’ll pick up the phone.

Learn to speak money not missiles.

There is one likely reason Beijing is refusing to re-establish mil to mil ties....

Mil to mil communication links are invaluable during times of tension, so miscalculation doesn't lead to an escalation...

The Chinese military, which Xi only marginally controls, if he controls it al all, got caught with its pants down with their clumsy balloon flights over the US....

They feel humiliated and are in a funk - and likely refused Xi's direction to re-establish ties...

Because this administration is too weak and doesn’t want to rock the boat with China, simple.

Sure, weak as in giving the CCP millions to make his clothing line in Chinese sweatshops...that they turn into missiles that threaten us and our Asian allies...

Focus, Blinken didn't even get the red carpet treatment, Xi made him wait almost an hour, and they were contemplating leaving when Xi called on him, completely disrespectful and a huge dis.

that they turn into missiles that threaten us and our Asian allies...

No. China had that power for a very long time before Europe and the rest of the world started using Chinese junk.

Because China is an irresponsible country, although I've heard they don't want their military having separate contacts because they don't trust it.

@bass4funk

China would be laughing at Trump if he got back in and caused a surrender in Ukraine. That is far more dangerous than any carpets or leaving people waiting.

The solution is simple.

The USA needs to stop aggravating China with sanctions and tariffs and all the other shenanigans that seek to undermine China's livelihood.

China has equal tariffs and if they don't like the individual sanctions they should stop funding killers around the world.

Then military to military communications can resume.

They can resume right now. It's not a gift, it is acting responsibly.

China doesn't trust the USA government for obvious reasons.

The US has equal reason not to trust China.

Recognition of the one china initiative whilst arming Taiwan and attempting to act ambiguous definitely isn't helping.

China had 50 years to get used to this.

Focus and reflect. Your hero has given the CCP millions and continues to do so...

Trumpstore.com is just a front for CCP-made goods...

Word salad...where do YOU think the millions of dollars Trump has given them goes?

And he sure went easy on them when they took over Hong Kong on his watch...guess he didn't want to upset his tailor...

Chinas weapons are better than USA ones and don’t involve secret inflation and upgraded costs. China ones, just pay a bribe.

China would be laughing at Trump if he got back in

If that’s true then why did they work so hard in trying to spread false information to make sure he doesn’t get back into the WH. If they thought he really was a joke they wouldn’t care one iota. So I vehemently disagree.

and caused a surrender in Ukraine.

Yes, as he should have

Not to the average American.

Four in ten republicans is not the average American. And it is Trump responsible for spreading this disloyalty.

Sorry, all I hear is "if magic, we would be in charge".

Because China does not want to normalize its relationship with the USA, it was just a show-off that China is taking steps towards peace.

Many countries want out from the hegemonic USA dollar and sanctions game.

Hence the new world bank headed by China and digital currency gaining traction.

Nobody wants a manipulated renminbi. Or one tied to the merchantilist PRC. Countries are eager to get on the China debt train, though, I will admit. The World Bank and IMF need to make sure that the countries they operate in steer clear of the secret China debt.

Because U.S. is an enemy threatening China and Chinese people, they have been doing hostile reconnaissance and other electronic spying activities that might resulting in an armed conflict. This is nothing new, America is hostile at China since 1950 the Korean war. There is nothing worth of discussion of a country in protection of her own and defying a threat if lethal force is to be used at anytime!

Because U.S. is an enemy threatening China

You negotiate with your enemies, not your friends.

and Chinese people

No, we have quite a good relationship with Chinese people in Taiwan and Singapore.

they have been doing hostile reconnaissance

How dare they do legal reconnaissance!

defying a threat if lethal force is to be used at anytime!

A threat that is 70 years old now and existed when China was considerably weaker than it is today.
