Doing the bidding of her behind-the-scenes political taskmasters and disregarding the mitigating circumstances ( the subservient UK government conspiracy to rendition Assange into the vengeful maw of the US government that always dispenses draconian punishment to uppity individuals who challenge their version of reality and truth), the judge's severe sentence was only to be expected. Every effort must now be made to thwart a rendition to a regime that has shown scant regard for human rights.

What is a secret-spiller?

Julian Assange is a journalist.

The way this article is written suggests that unkempt hair and being wild-eyed might be a crime.

Lest we forget that the death penalty could be brought to bear and that Julian Assange was literally terrified for his life.

Judge Taylor’s assertion that being in the embassy of a foreign country somehow amounted to 16 million pounds of debt for the UK tax payer is not backed up by any facts.

How much more money, sentencing Mr Assange to prison in the UK must the judge think the UK tax payer should bear?

Anyone still believe there's no Deep State?

I have been following this story with great interest ever since Assange claimed asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy.

For sure there are points which I do not like about Assange and the sexual assault case should have been dealt with. But even that accusation creates doubts in my mind (quite possibly a setup job to arrest Assange and to begin an extradition process).

We should all ask ourselves, after watching the horrific military video of an apache helicopter mowing down innocent men - do we think this should have remained a military secret? Or was it in the public interest to have released that film? (of course I expect the answer to be that it is in global public interest to know about those killings)

In which case Chelsea Manning should never have received such a strict sentence, and Assange should be left alone.

The ridiculous thing about this UK sentence is that the original charge against Assange to extradite him was dropped by Swedish prosecutors - therefore Assange has been jailed for skipping bail on a charge that was dropped.!

King of Kremileaks finally doing his time. I'm sure he'll be made welcome by Her Majesty's detainees.

Send this alleged rapist to Sweden on release..

Madverts, the Swedes dropped the case, therefore it would not have stood up in court. But by then the Swedes would have flown him to the U.S. And why would he have been extradited to the U.S? For releasing a (true) story that an apache helicopter shot down innocent men and hid the fact.

If Assange did sexually assault two women I would be the first one to applaud him being locked up for it. But this sentence is not about that is it? This story is about his Wikileaks activism and upsetting the U.S.

Like Snowden, I'm a bit unsure on what to think about Julian Assange.

Should we shoot him or salute him?

He skipped bail in the UK, he gets an automatic custodial sentence in the UK. Some here are choosing to read more into it.

Hope he receives better Medical attention in prison.

Well, Julian Assange said he was suing the Ecuadorean government for “violating his fundamental rights,” claiming that his longtime hosts at the country’s embassy in London are limiting his contact with the outside world and censoring his speech in October, 2018.

How disgraceful Julian Assange was?

He should have grateful for let him refuge at Ecuador Embassy. I do not surprise the Ecuadorian Government has enough of Julian Assange.

Julian Assange was not Journalist as he claimed to be. He was hacker and encourage other peoples to steal Government and military secret from their employer. Also, he was longing for fame and opportunist womanizer.

He though he was untouchable and teasing the US Government for many years. However, he did not disturb and avoid the Russian Government and its secret information.

Now his cowardice and ungrateful attitude

His cowardice, flaunting and ungrateful attitude have led to his downfall. Julian Assange was a millionaire and his money was deposited in safe heaven by major News Corporations. He won't give away those the US Government secret information which he got from Bradley Edward Manny and other source to News agency. He was smart with money and also dumb with women. He was smart to hide his income from peoples, even from Wikileak employees, but he was dumb enough to over confidence and commit one night stand sexual relationship with his followers whenever he got the opportunity.

Julian Assange has been boasting, flaunting and haunting to the American Government for decades by publishing the US intelligence information which he received from the US Army soldier Bradley Edward Manning and Edward Snowden.

Now he will face justice in the US and he may be end up in prison for decade. Also, Swedish Police is also reopening the rape allegation case against Julia Assange. He has to face the justice with brave face.
