“It’s great to smell the fresh air of London again,”

Now we know there is something mentally wrong with him. But congrats anyway Julian. I hope that mental disorder can save you from Swedish prison as well.

Well, he was in jail for a while and Wikileaks continued without him. If the US want to stop the publications then they need a different approach. Removing the top man thru diverting legal actions won't change anything. In fact, it seems he got more support once he was in jail. Wikileaks will continue and the US can't stop it. They should have had a better security system.

I love how the US is STILL considering "its own criminal charges over his website’s release of secret information."

Even I don't agree with him about "leaks of US secrets" but I still think MrAssange is very smart to reside in Britain for his own protection.

tclh; i agree, high profile and Christian lawmakers and brodcasters in America have been calling for this mans execution. God bless the USA!!!

This Assange will be the guy who kills Obama Care. The US gov can't protect state secrets. They can't protect details about your most private health concerns.

United States considers its own criminal charges over his website’s release of secret information.

Some interesting numbers. According to Der Spiegel, out of the 250,000 cables WikiLeaks have, over 50% of them were not subject to classification, 40.5 % were classified as "confidential" and only 6% classified as secret. There are no "top secret" documents.

So far, as it says here, 1,621 cables have been published. So which classification were the published cables? If only unclassified material has been published then he can't be charged with releasing secret information. Whether the US has legal grounds to charge him if he does/did release secret information is a different question, but they can't charge him for something if he hasn't done it. They would have to come up with something else.

By the way Gadsen, "Obama Care" will be operated by private health insurance companies. And nobody has any intention of killing that gold mine.

The most secret of information is never published. Once you put a top-secret or other classification on something --> the more people will read it. Just like ObamaCare you bury the secret info under tons of fluff information.

Well after wasting my time searching for an article that would answer my question above, I got the bright idea of going to the Guardian website and, uh, looking at the cables. What a genius! All three categories are there, secret, confidential, and unclassified. And unlike members of the State department, and also the USAF, I am able to read them! Not going to comment on that though, there is some legal stuff going on (ie. this one,"Classified documents remain classified until they are officially declassified. Just because they are publicly available does not declassify them.") as to why they are not permitted to read their own documents.

So far the best thing about wikileaks is that it has ended Hillary Clinton's bid for president. But I really enjoyed the European media's surprise at the details about US diplomacy. They marveled at the naivete of US diplomats, their sincere belief that the Palestine-Israel thing can be resolved, and that the Obama administration is the one to do it.They also expressed astonishment that the US State Dept thinks America can make a real difference in Africa.

I looked online for some leak stuff but instead there is an article about Assange's leaked e-mails. He is something of a stalker. Girls call him a "funny bugger."

There is a Daily Mail article online today and it's called

Exposed: The 'creepy, lovesick' emails WikiLeaks boss Julian Assange sent to 19-year-old girl student

Assange has attracted admirers and...stalkers

Exposed: The 'creepy, lovesick' emails WikiLeaks boss Julian Assange sent to 19-year-old girl student" you know, that's something to think about... I've noticed a lot of IT types send mails to girls, thinking its cool.. what ever happened to sending flowers and a card? Really as educated as he is, you'd think he'd have some class.

trouble is that being such a nerd he probably thinks every young chick at the club who happens to be asleep is actually begging for it from their cyber hero ...

yes, indeed. Men have degressed completely. At least his emails are somewhat poetic and not threatening. I think he is of the obsessive type. It is very difficult to make such people believe that they are not appreciated. They continue to linger around someone who compeltely ignores them which is so sad.

My friend once fell asleep on the sofa at the old Lexington Queen in Roppongi. Didn't get him any admirers though.

The guy is a geek who spends weeks looking at a computer screen, and who barely went to school. It would be a surprise if he wasn't a bit (or more) of a creep. None of that is the point, which of course explains why it is in the news. Reminds me of the old Milli Vanilli scandal, "oh my God they are not the real singers, I want my money back". The CD sounds the same, it doesn't matter who sung it. And the info is the same, makes no difference who brought it.

I don't think Assange obsessed over the 20yo's he met in Sweden. Search for their versions of what happened.

'Gadsden' dailymail says it was before Wikileaks, so the use of honey-traps is quite possible, after the fact.

Reading about Wikileaks and Assange in the Daily Mail?

Now I understand where some of the posts here come from and I fear I may be keeping bad company.

Heh, I just read the Daily Mail's puff piece on Assange. They've dug up some email's he sent to a bird and are building a character asassination similar to certain posters on JT. At leas they should be contented his private life is being leaked.

Is the Daily Mail even available in Tokyo?

He is something of a stalker.

No, he is not, because he obviously understood the word "no". Stalkers are people who continue to be annoying irritating and threatening even they have been told 1000 times "no".

Well 'Gadsden' started with the tabloid dailymail BS, stalking Assange for more dirt. So I gave him/her a dose back. Also to show 'SolidariTea' another version of the facts.

And Assange is STILL wanted by police in Sweden for rape, molestation and unlawful coercion. Being released on bail doesn't change that.

"And Assange is STILL wanted by police in Sweden for rape, molestation and unlawful coercion."

Wanted by the Swedes for allegations of crimes.

Madverts - Wanted by the Swedes for allegations of crimes.

Oh, and fleeing the country rather than face his accusers in court.
