That could well happen given the GOP base comprises the largest demographic and the GOP politicians, from the executive on down, are part of that demographic.
A tactic Goebbels would endorse. Forget truth. Lie and repeat the lie until those who fear the most and are most easily convinced that some group is out to get them believe the lie.
Organizations like the Internet Research Agency and others pushing ultra-rightwing agendas use the media, especially outlets like Fox 'news', infowars, RT, etc., on tactics mastered by Goebbels and Stalinists, knowing those who fear the most and are easily convinced will buy them. And then go buy more guns and ammo.
'Keep fear alive' has been the message of despots throughout history.
Chip Star
It would definitely rally the base because they are too ignorant to realize their unfounded fears are being played upon.
Raise your hand if you think Trump can get through 10 of his Nuremberg-esque rallies without energizing the left because he pushes a blatant, repugnant lie.

So hundreds of people in a liberal stronghold area? Yeah that’s impressive.
Blacklabel
Again if I have nothing to fear from this caravan what is the liberal plan to deal with it before thousands of people arrive at the border? How will people eat, drink, bathe, and shelter themselves without resorting to crime?
You saw what happened when Mexico forbid entry, they just entered anyway.

Trump is a "leader" that is willing to bring up "issues" and start changes in the systems burdening both the government and the society which the legislators must and should have but was unwilling and unable to address and work on for ages. That is his role in motivating the GOP. If he believed that the other party would best represent the USA, he would have run and done the same.
He is the "banner" man that the nation needed, not necessarily wanted as can be seen by many responses domestically and internationally. He is asking the GOP to "follow" his lead and make the "changes" necessary for the US as a nation and as a country to "survive". He is stating that unless the nation and country survives, economically, politically, militarily and otherwise, the people will not survive the onslaught from the rest of the world.
It makes sense for BOTH the Republicans and the Democrats to put aside their self-righteous pride and prejudices and follow his lead. If the people actually "listen" and "observe" and realistically look at the world, he does make sense. It makes sense for the GOP to side with him and help him "refine" policies that he may not have the proper perspective on. That is national politics and legislation.

Will 'all Trump, all the time' help the GOP in the midterms? -- headline
The answer is a resounding yes. Other than Hate Trump -- and by extension, hate people who voted for him in 2016 -- democrats are not running on anything else. During the past two years, they along with their enablers in the MSM have tried their hardest to separate President Trump voters from him, and it's been an abject failure. The media do not broadcast it but look at the thousands of people he still draws to his rallies even in an off-year election. The Left has come to realize the all their hard work to get President Trump supporters to abandon him has been an exercise in futility. Key to point out: with the exception of here in Houston this week, our president goes to places off the beaten path to hold his gatherings. And people folks still come in droves to hear him in person. No one democrat can draw the audiences like President Trump. This article even points out the Kamala Harris drew "hundreds" in a heavily democrat stronghold like Iowa City earlier this week.
People who hate our President will continue hating him no matter what he does. Nothing will change that. The key voting bloc in the upcoming midterms is us registered independents. What the democrat party has devolved into since election night 2016 under the banner of "resist" is something only Leftist strongholds support and will vote for. Unfortunately for them, the vast majority of us living here in flyover states have no desire of being associated with the current version of democrat party.
Todays democrat party is akin to a red flashing light on a dashboard that reads "empty".

Lest one forget.., there are "WARS" going on all over the world where one group or another is trying to "take over" or even "destroy" or "annihilate" another group. It is "forever" a constant and relentless challenge and fight to survive. One cannot "judge" life based upon personal realm and habitat... One cannot judge based upon one's own set of values without understanding and appreciating those of others. One must have "perspective" to realize that. So does all politicians at the national level.

I'm glad you used "reporter" and not "journalist" - maybe a more accurate term would be "paid political hack"...
You know, dark hair, dark complexion - ensure you sniff around all those kids and women too...and if you can't find any, just put a headdress on one of those poor Latinos.
Excuse me, excuse me - Mr MS 13 and Arab terrorist, can you pose for a picture please - that's it, give me your meanest face...
The GOP - Gropers, Ogres, and Perverts....
Blacklabel
And still no plan from any liberals to deal with this caravan when it arrives at our border. You know what are we going to DO? Just more Trump attacks and deflection.

Healthcare, Free Trade, Save Medicare/Social Security, Return US to Respected World Leader, and we won’t grope your wife, daughter, girlfriend….
Very true, you can’t fix stupid…
Yea, look at it – all those there for the entertainment...just like a third-rate Vegas Lounge Act...
True, Putin and Trump won that battle....
True, he's a celebrity - a terrible President but certainly a celebrity...
Uh, compare 2008 and 2016 Inaugurations…then realize Trump lied to you....
I’d hate him less if he’d resign and go back to hosting his boring reality TV show…
Yes, and women…
What the Republican Party has devolved into is nothingness – there is no more Republican Party – call it the Orange Cult now…
Today’s Republican Party is akin to a red flashing light on a dashboard that reads “we surrender”….
Blacklabel
So when Repubs win the midterms, what’s the excuse?
The caravan? Voter suppression? Gerrymandering? Kavanaugh? Russia? Need to start floating the excuses out there.
Chip Star
If republicans win the midterms, there was widespread voter fraud. You know, the utterly false reason Trump got hammered in the popular vote.
Chip Star
Democrats control no part of the government, so why are rightists asking what the democratic plan is for dealing with this caravan?
Texas A&M Aggie
I early voted last night. Waited 90 minutes to cast my ballot because the line stretched for four blocks outside the polling station. I slept very soundly last night knowing I did my part to shock the world again on Nov. 6th.
Leftists, get ready to once again scream helplessly at the sky because the Red Tsunami is coming.
lincolnman
Reg Tsunami - sounds like a Russian military unit - very appropriate term for a Trump/Putin supporter and member of the GOP - Guardians of Putin.....
bass4funk
Worked for the previous President.
Even if they were in power, they wouldn’t do anything, it’s what they want, look at California....oh, Jerry Brown, the door can’t hit you fast enough on your way out.
