Muri! If they want some private time then stay in that massive palace and never come out. I don't think any parasite reporter or journalist would quit that easy.

I wish them luck in their search for privacy. Paparazzi are independent contractors so publishers are not liable for their actions and really can't control what they do. Even if 100% of the British press announced they would refuse to publish any photos of the couple, there would be overseas publishers who would jump at a chance for such photos. The couple's security detachment is going to earn their pay, for sure.

Yes, dear God! Everyone just ignore them!

Not on your taxpayers money.

OK, that kind of annoys me.

I get that they want some private time, and I agree that the press do tend to overstep the mark pretty often, but they have to take the rough with the smooth and when you get all the trappings of royal life, you also get the media attention.

If it is all so awful for them, abdicate the throne and go live a normal life, get jobs and struggle with every day worries like the rest of us have to. Otherwise, shut up and accept what you have chosen.

Miamumj.

So being a military helicopter rescue pilot is not a real job and he don't get a salary?

@Zenny:

Yes, absolutely it is. So renounce the throne and go and do that instead if the lack of privacy attached to being the future king of England bothers you so much. Most S&R pilots don`t get the press hounding them wherever they go.

While being a "helicopter pilot" is a "real job", I sincerely doubt Prince William got the same treatment as any other helicopter pilot. His title no doubt offered him more preferential treatment and lessened the strict discipline other military grunts get.

It's reasonable for them to "ask" for some privacy, but I don't think they can reasonably expect it completely, due to their power and standing in society.

I doubt they would be given any privacy at all, given who their parents are. Regardless if they decide to live a private life or remain part of the royal family, didn't work for Diana either.

Like being the child of a famous movie star, you are out there in the lime-light. Granted maybe to a lesser degree but still the spotlight will be on you and every misstep, etc reported.

Diana didn`t choose the quiet life - she simply left "the family" and made the media attention work for her on her own terms, using her fame to draw attention to causes that were important to her.

You are right Zenny, they probably wouldn`t be given any privacy regardless of what they do beause of who they are, but it just irritates me when I see people who have so much bleating about the hardships they have to suffer. I agree with haoushokuhaki - they are reasonable to ask for it, but not reasonable to expect it.

It will be interesting to see how this privacy thing plays out. I heard one of the "palace insiders" say that William has told the media, "Don't you dare do to Kate what you did to my mother."

The media took a lot of heat because of the way Diana died and that just might be enough to prevent the publishers from buying the pictures, which might curtail the paparazzi from taking pictures they can't sell.

Or not.

For the record, they are not asking for the paparazzi to lay off indefinitely... only this weekend and when they start their delayed honeymoon (whenever that will be). After this weekend and until the honeymoon it will be "picture-palooza with the Royals".

If they want privacy they should 1) Appear on T.V. everyday and just talk about their everyday rituals 2) Give newspapers and magazines a detailed report of their daily rituals. 3) Make as many public apperances they can and talk about their everyday rituals. After a few weeks of this everyone will be sick of them and leave them alone.

Oh come off it. I despise the royal leeches as much as anyone. But if we don't protect their privacy too no one can really have any. There is no excuse for papparazzi at all and their actions should simply land them in jail.

Besides, if the royals had their privacy the other leeches who seem to live off of scandles and whatnot would lose a reason to think the royal twits should be in their position of leechdom. The sooner their private lives disappear from the media, the sooner the royal twits might just get tossed out on their ear.

Kapuna's right.

Yep! The British taxpayers foot the Royals` bills but the Royal family also bring tons of cash into the country. Just think of all the purchasing that goes on of Royal family memorabilia.

Thinking about it - when they were holed up in Anglesey and William was working with the RAF search and rescue,a nd kate was doing day to day stuff, the media pretty much DID leave them alone. There were no "exclusives" of them shopping in the supermarket taking a walk, anything like that. It was only when they came out of "normality" to make public appearances that they were hounded by the press. After the wedding hype dies down, and they return to their normal lives in North Wales, they probably will pretty much be left alone, until they do something that commands attention, like public appearances, official engagements, dodgy party costumes, that sort of thing.

I agree with miamum. If they don't like the downside of their position - the papparazzi and constant lack of privacy - they should give up the perks - wealth and luxury provided from taxes paid by people with much less disposable income - become private citizens and live off his pilot's salary.

Or as a wise old gentleman once said, if you can't take the heat, get outta the kitchen.

That was about the whitest wedding I've ever seen.

I have no doubt the royal couple would appreciate all the expert advice given here on how to live their lives.
