Covid is not finished with us and won't be for a long time. until we get the developing world vaccinated we can expect new variants, and who knows what these new variants will look like.

As the rest of the article says, about 164,000 died. 'Thousands' just doesn't really give the impression that it was 164,000.

In Europe the latest variant is called "Deltacrom."
