“The French people are sick of restrictions," she said Wednesday on channel BFMTV. “We are confident that people will behave responsibly."

Hope the French makes the correct decision. The information has been to known to the experts since well before the 2003 SARS virus crisis; even the the WHO agency forget such advice that global experts knew, even 4 months after the Covid crisis began.

So another 1.2 billion useless masks thrown into the sea each day that take between 250 and 400 years to breakdown into nanoplastics which are harmful to humans and wildlife.

The information known by the experts (and that were the basis for the same recommendations done by them all over the world) was that mask were useful while treating symptomatic patients in hospitals, the WHO was in concordance with the CDC and any other recognized institution of science and medicine in the world saying that masks should be prioritized for those environments because the only evidence available of a benefit were for those environments.

You have repeatedly failed to produce any reference that proved benefit from mask use in asymptomatic populations, even when asked for it. Not being able to produce these reference prove your idea about the scientific knowledge at the time was wrong. This evidence was produced during the pandemic, which is why all the scientific authorities including the WHO and the CDC changed the recommendations.

The WHO recommendations are:

*If COVID-19 is spreading in your community, stay safe by taking some simple precautions, such as physical distancing, wearing a mask, keeping rooms well ventilated, avoiding crowds, cleaning your hands, and coughing into a bent elbow or tissue. Check local advice where you live and work. *Do it all!

Make wearing a mask a normal part of being around other people. The appropriate use, storage and cleaning or disposal of masks are essential to make them as effective as possible.
