Maybe Donald J. Trump, American television personality, will buy her a cup of coffee,

0 ( +9 / -9 )

That's a very condescending thing to say. That was a terrible thing for anyone to do. That can't of act should be condemned in the strongest terms. Hope this women gets prosecuted.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

That wasn't a very Christian thing to do!

0 ( +6 / -6 )

And this is what you get when you rile the people up in hatred of Muslims, and convince them that Muslims are evil. It's just the natural progression.

And some people want to make the inciter president? Think of how much worse things will get then.

9 ( +13 / -4 )

Trump's running mate?

2 ( +9 / -7 )

That wasn't a very Christian thing to do!

I wish I could disagree, but knowing that Christians, just like any large population, run a full spectrum of humans with a full range of beliefs think this hateful person could justify what she did based on her particular and peculiar understanding of the bible. I think every religion has people who can justify their actions however hideous based on their understanding of their religion. All extremism needs to be curbed.

To repost what I put up in an earlier post here in JT a few days ago:

"Taking a look at an NBC news story that reported research data from the SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center) both very left leaning organizations found that from 2001-2012, religion incidents of hate crimes in the US show that Jews were the recipients in 66% of the crimes, and Muslims only 12%. Considering that during that time frame, we have seen the 9/11 attacks, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan one would think by reading the news and the Trump bashers that the Muslim victims of hate crimes would be very high. Interesting thing about the SPLC information is that the state with the highest number of hate groups in 2014 was California (yes very liberal CA)."

So a Jewish person could expect at least a 4 times greater chance of having some type hate incident against them than a Muslim. And again to those who are going to get on the band wagon and blame a right wing southerner as being the leading cause of this type of bigotry, this happened in very left leaning CA, and as you can see from the paragraph above, the SPLC shows that the state with the highest number of hate groups in 2014 was CA.

The recent Muslim terrorist attack is still fresh, it's not Trump who influenced this woman. I'd put money on it! Blame the mass media for bombarding the American public with the jihadist. And the el presidente for for the lack of action on ISIS when it was an easy task and for refusing to call this an Islamic problem, which it is.

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

Exactly.

And some people want to make the inciter president? Think of how much worse things will get then.

Then we'll have concentration camps for muslims. Oh wait. Guantanamo. Then we'll have MORE concentration camps for muslims.

0 ( +5 / -6 )

LoL & this occurring in the MOST Liberal of all places- San Francisco.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

@ Wc626 -

Google "Lake Chabot Regional Park". The incident occurred in Alameda county, on the other side of the bay, not in the city. Maybe you should pause to read the articles before you post in future?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Oh boy. This will get more coverage than the last Jihadist massacre. And to think that a woman did it... and I bet she was not even covering her hair.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Oh boy. This will get more coverage than the last Jihadist massacre. And to think that a woman did it... and I bet she was not even covering her hair.

Can we take your sarcasm to mean that you think this woman's behavior was appropriate?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Can we take your sarcasm to mean that you think this woman's behavior was appropriate?

That would be an illogical conclusion. Why even ask such a thing when you know the answer? I really hate how internet debate is centered around these vague implications. You have nothing to support WilliB condoning something like this so you have to resort to begging the question.

0 ( +6 / -6 )

You have nothing to support WilliB condoning something like this so you have to resort to begging the question.

The only thing I have is the comment he made, which wasn't enough to come to a definitive conclusion, which is why I asked the question. With some of the other anti-Muslim comments he's made, I'm honestly not clear on whether or not he condones the behavior or not. Therefore, rather than jumping to conclusions, I asked a question so that I can come to the correct one.

If you have a problem with that, the internet probably isn't the place for you.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Wow! The patriots are so quick to puff out their chests as one in pride when an American team or individual achieves something but just as quickly blame it on the political leanings of a state when something ugly happens.

You can't lose. USA! USA!

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Oh boy. This will get more coverage than the last Jihadist massacre.

Ha-ha . . . Yeah, in liberal California, it might. Thank god this incident didn't occur in Texas. We wouldn't hear the end of it.

blame it on the political leanings of a state when something ugly happens.

But what happened in San Bernardino was uglier. Too bad people like you will not agree.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

But what happened in San Bernardino was uglier. Too bad people like you will not agree.

What a ridiculous comment.

Particularly thinking that the two can be equated.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

"blame it on the political leanings of a state when something ugly happens."

"But what happened in San Bernardino was uglier. Too bad people like you will not agree."

Erm, I do regard massacres by religious fanatics of any stripe as uglier than one idiot throwing coffee.

I'm just shocked at just how divisive the thoughts of patriotic Americans are. Their constant chest-puffing and flag-waving about bombing the living daylights out of a country seems to descend into attacks on individual states and cities whenever a lunatic goes crazy with an assault weapon or throws a cup of coffee.

Tell you what, the next time an Olympian wins gold, fly their state flag rather than The Stars and Stripes.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Charge the woman with assault and causing a public distrubance and move on. Her actions are wrong and not defensible. Having said that, no one was seriously hurt and we should be able to get on with our daily lives.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Erm, I do regard massacres by religious fanatics of any stripe as uglier than one idiot throwing coffee.

Good. But you've got to admit, its way uglier how radical islam kills; chopping off heads, burning people alive, shooting diners, concertgoers, terrorizing christmas parties and Charlie Hebdo office.

lunatic goes crazy with an assault weapon or throws a cup of coffee.

Throwing a cup of jo aint' no biggy compared to what motivated people like Farook / Tashfeen want to do.

Tell you what, the next time an Olympian wins gold, fly their state flag rather than The Stars and Stripes.

No. It wouldn't be the same kind of "Glory."

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Good one liner headline. I think we need some more info. But If she did it out of spite then she`s a bimbo.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

"Jones said prosecutors will then decide whether to charge Department of Corrections administrative worker Denise Slader."

Why on earth wouldn't they?

"Blame the mass media for bombarding the American public with the jihadist. And the el presidente for for the lack of action on ISIS when it was an easy task and for refusing to call this an Islamic problem, which it is."

Anyone but the woman herself, eh, MarkG? Or else the people that villanize Muslims, like yourself, right? Instead you blame people that DEFEND Muslims??

Makes sense... if you're a Republican and Trump supporter.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

every time muslims commit terrorist acts the media and assorted "liberals" fall over themselves in avoiding naming them as muslims (and even then they qualify it by calling them mis-guided and not representative of Islam) until there is no alternative but to reveal the truth. One nutty woman throws coffee at people in a park (this is news???) and suddenly its a terrible crime and the "victims" (mulims) are identified with their religion immediately.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

every time muslims commit terrorist acts the media and assorted "liberals" fall over themselves in avoiding naming them as muslims

No, we avoid condemning all Muslims for the actions of a few individuals. Not the same thing.

suddenly its a terrible crime and the "victims" (mulims) are identified with their religion immediately.

When you've got Trump feeding a fear frenzy, and people showing their bigoted beliefs left right and center, this incident has more relevance.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

strangerland: No, we avoid condemning all Muslims for the actions of a few individuals. Not the same thing.

No, you missed a step. First their identification as muslims is avoided as long as possible. Then the next step i.e., Islamic apologism, kicks in.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

The only difference between Trump's supporters and the jihadists is that Trump's supporters are not yet massacring innocents for belonging to the wrong religion or colour.

Both groups feed off hate, bigotry and a perceived threat to their way of life from everybody who is different in some way.

The worrying part is the growing support for Trump's way of thinking in the US after the recent massacre. Recent debates on most new channels increasingly are filled with people who are converting to his radical strain of conservatism.

I always believed Trump was comedian and would fade out when his jokes turned stale.

But now there is a serious possibility of this hate-monger becoming the president of the US.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

No, you missed a step. First their identification as muslims is avoided as long as possible. Then the next step i.e., Islamic apologism, kicks in.

There's no need to apologize for Islam. Muslims are not the terrorists. The terrorists are Muslims.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

But now there is a serious possibility of this hate-monger becoming the president of the US.

I doubt he'll get elected. Even other Republicans are throwing him under the bus. Like obama said, "Its the Hunger Games." Everyone git your popcorn and front row seats as we approach 2016.

Muslims are not the terrorists.

Okay. See your point, they aren't terrorist. But they just scare the crap out of us when they all want to come into the US. This is why we shouldn't allow them (tens of thousands of them refugees) into the US. They don't understand how to fit in here.

It be better if the gulf nations or other places like indonesia grant them "asylum."

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

They don't understand how to fit in here.

People keep saying that, but there's not any basis in reality behind it. The overwhelming majority of Muslims live in Western countries with no problems.

It be better if the gulf nations or other places like indonesia grant them "asylum."

I sort of agree, but the fact is, they aren't. And since the US broke the Middle East, they have some responsibility to deal with the results of their actions.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

The overwhelming majority of Muslims live in Western countries with no problems.

Not entirely accurate, there are those who fit in and there are those who do not. The UK is a prime example, there are those who stick to their ghettoes and there are others who make an effort adjust.

I doubt if anybody really admits to the reason why there are a large number of Jihadists from Europe. The European attitude to liberalism is condescending. There is an excess of everything till it bites them in their rumps and then they start rolling back in panic. There is no melting pot approach of the US and all it ends up doing is allow people to live in silos.

The right wing is going to grow in leaps in bounds in France, Germany and I would guess the UK and its not going to be pretty.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Not entirely accurate, there are those who fit in and there are those who do not. The UK is a prime example, there are those who stick to their ghettoes and there are others who make an effort adjust.

The overwhelming majority fit in. Some don't. Same as with any ethnic group living in another country - for an example look at white gaijin in Japan.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

What's going on in the US? I'm going there next year in January, and I'm concerned about my safety since I'm Japanese and not white.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

The overwhelming majority fit in.

Depends upon what you mean by fit in, if you mean not committing violent acts, then yes. But if you widen the conditions, getting education, jobs, accepting other cultures etc I would say not.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Remember that not all Republicans are racist, but if you are racist, the Republican party is for you.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Depends upon what you mean by fit in, if you mean not committing violent acts, then yes. But if you widen the conditions, getting education, jobs, accepting other cultures etc I would say not.

Do you have anything to quantify this?

What's going on in the US? I'm going there next year in January, and I'm concerned about my safety since I'm Japanese and not white.

Just don't grow a beard (you may look slightly Arabic), and maybe wear a Japanese flag - you should be ok as long as you don't stumble into a mass shooting by some crazy white person.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Do you have anything to quantify this?

I can ask you the same.

Rather than me doing copy and paste, do a web search on unemployment in UK amongst Muslims compared to other immigrants etc etc, once you open that box be ready to accept what comes out of it.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I can't prove non-existence.

So you agree that the claim about majority of the Muslims fitting in is non-existent.

Check on the study done by Muslim council of Britain, all it takes is a few clicks.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

So you agree that the claim about majority of the Muslims fitting in is non-existent.

No, fitting in means there is nothing to report. You are asking me to prove a lack of reports. I can't prove that. If the opposite is true however, that they don't fit in, there will be lots of reports and numbers to show. That can be proven.

Check on the study done by Muslim council of Britain

Sure, just point me at it.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

On the subject of Muslims and other minorities in the UK, I hate to say I found myself agreeing with the rightist Douglas Murray on 'multiculturalism'. People have misunderstood that term and what it has meant in practice is people have been treated as part of an ethnic or religious group in the UK rather than as simply Brits. The rightists start gibbering on at this point about what it means to be British ( the monarchy, the C of E, eccentricity, creativity and similar fluff ) at this point and most people stop listening.

However, this sense of treating others as part of an ethnic or religious group gets serious when we see the likes of Sharia courts in the UK. Religious law has no place in a civilised country and the UK should have made that crystal clear. It is also a problem when you hear of faith schools teaching scientific garbage to children in the name of religion ( the UK is not a theocratic state and nor would it entertain Ben Carson as a potential leader ).

The idea that the British approach has failed in this regard is not confined to the headbangers in the BNP or UKIP.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

The right wing is going to grow in leaps in bounds in France, Germany and I would guess the UK and its not going to be pretty.

@ulysses, thankx. U bring up a big point. Never thought of that scenario. And places like France, Germany, Belgium have every right to. PEGIDA has already divided Dresden, so it's a start. No, it prob won't be pretty.

The right made a small comeback taking both houses of congress, but it aint' enough. Ordinary law abiding american citizens should arm themselves and learn how to shoot, if they've haven't done so already. Rally the community to be watchful and report any suspicious activity to their local law enforcement.

This is NOT racial profiling. Its showing you give a toss about the security of your own family, friends, neighbors, community and country.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

There have been more and enough studies on Muslim integration in the UK and other parts of Europe.

No, fitting in means there is nothing to report.

Really, if something is working out really well then nobody will bother to report it? We are just supposed to take somebody's word for it. The argument borders between ridiculous and hilarious.

Sure, just point me at it.

I just did, if you know English language and basics of internet, should be easy.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Really, if something is working out really well then nobody will bother to report it? We are just supposed to take somebody's word for it. The argument borders between ridiculous and hilarious.

Ok, point me at some news stories that say 'everything was good today. These people didn't commit any crimes, and nothing happened in this town'.

In case you hadn't noticed, numbers are only recorded when things go bad, and news stories don't report when nothing happens.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Ok, point me at some news stories that say 'everything was good today.

Again, hilarious and ridiculous.

These people didn't commit any crimes,

Really, so no Muslim migrant has ever committed any crime. Maybe in Bohemia but surely not anywhere else.

Says the guy who hasn't provided a link.

Heard the thing about horse and water, or do you want me to send a link!!

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Again, hilarious and ridiculous.

I guess that was your attempt to prove me wrong.

Didn't work.

Really, so no Muslim migrant has ever committed any crime. Maybe in Bohemia but surely not anywhere else.

Are you having reading comprehension issues? Your reply didn't match the comment.

do you want me to send a link!!

Yep. Anyone who makes a claim should be prepared to back it up.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

No law against praying in a public park, by why would you pray there, especially in this climate? Is the park full of people of different faiths praying in different ways? Talk about wearing your religion on your sleeve.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

why would you pray there, especially in this climate?

If anything, now is the time to do it. If you give in to fear, you lose to the terrorists.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Good point - why would they be praying in a park at this time of year? Is it normal muslim practice? I don't think so. Perhaps we shouldn't be so quick to identify them as muslims. They may in fact be "mis-guided" or "non-representative of islam". After all, "the overwhelming majority of muslims" don't pray in public parks in cold weather.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Well, I meant 'political' climate, but weather too, and this is a water resource, and a strange place to pray. It may mean nothing, but there are other angles to this rather strange story.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I guess that was your attempt to prove me wrong.

So Muslims do not commit any crimes anywhere, and the 70% of prison population in France who are Muslim, are all innocent.

Didn't work.

If facts don't work then nothing will.

Yep.

I could, but a link to a quote about horse and water would be removed by the mods.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

nandakandamandaDEC. 10, 2015 - 09:38PM JST Well, I meant 'political' climate, but weather too, and this is a water resource, and a strange place to pray. It may mean nothing, but there are other angles to this rather strange story.

Yes, it is strange. The story needs investigating, but don't hold your breath - the PC cliches are all in place and any further probing would be "islamo-phobia".

1 ( +3 / -2 )

No law against praying in a public park, by why would you pray there, especially in this climate? Is the park full of people of different faiths praying in different ways?

This is why the belong in Medina, Raqqa, Riyadh, Pakistan . . . that's the norm there. They do not belong in the USA.

I honestly think, from now on (inside the US), these kinds of "incidents" will be instigated by muslims. Like playing the "Race Card" but instead of race, religion.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Its not reported and its not supposed to be mentioned (because its "islamophobic") but large groups of muslims in France will block traffic by suddenly assembling and "praying" en-masse on the street as a deliberate provocation. They get away with it because to do anything about it would be "islamophopbic" and "playing into the hands of ISIS". Talk to a french person .

2 ( +4 / -2 )

They get away with it because to do anything about it would be "islamophopbic" and "playing into the hands of ISIS". Talk to a french person .

Of course they get away with it. Its time for the French to take their country back from that sort of nonsense. Those people can "pray" in their homes, not upon a public highway obstructing commuters.

Imagine if large groups of christians "praying" en-masses in Mecca, blocking traffic? They'd be going apeshit.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Wc626DEC. 10, 2015 - 10:51PM JST Imagine if large groups of christians "praying" en-masses in Mecca, blocking traffic? They'd be going apeshit.

Oh, they would in fact be torn limb from limb by the muslim mob.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Oh, they would in fact be torn limb from limb by the muslim mob.

No they wouldn't . . . . they're a peaceful religion remember? The clergy in ME never preach hatred against the west. American nor French for that matter.

LoL . . . @ohara provide a "link." LoL, "back up" your statement. Torn limb for limb cannot be accurate.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

My religion is better than yours. What pathetic creatures we are. Believing in fairy tales and different interpretations of fairy tales. Judaism, Islam and Christianity all came from the same source anyway but, as is always the case with us greedy, jealous and selfish humans, many can't get along with others so they sulk, disagree and form another group. Catholic/Protesant and Shia/Sunni etc. After a while both sides start trying to destroy the other all in the name of a so-called religion. Religion has a lot to answer for. Do you really need religion to be a good or 'better' person? I don't see why.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Maybe Donald J. Trump, American television personality, will buy her a cup of coffee

Maybe that muslim guy should go pray in a public park in Medina or Raqqa. I'm sure there are plenty of other "fellow" people among him, in those parts, who would not throw coffee at him.

Why should americans on their own soil have to tolerate that sort of ritual. Perhaps the Bay Area should host a cartoon contest featuring the "prophet." Why not? It was (is) totally lawful for muslims to pray in parks.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Getting back to the point of an idiot throwing a cup of coffee at a group of praying Muslims in a public space, do we all agree on one rule for all? I lived in Texas where Christianity was constantly in my face from snake-handling idiots knocking on my door, rip-off televangelists spouting nonsense on TV, being told I should f### off back to atheist Europe ( many found it difficult to understand the idea of continent and country ), listening to politicians gibbering about satan etc.

I disagree with public shows of religion. Can we all agree on that particular point?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The terrorists are Muslims

the vast majority of the coreligionists claimed by that statement would disagree

but I'm an apologist for even entertaining this thought

One country. One people. One Trump

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

The Constitution guarantees the right to public speech of nearly all kinds - particularly religious and political speech. I am not a religious person but I do not have a problem with Muslims praying in public. It does bother me to an extend that American culture is undergoing such a radically quick and destabilizing transformation - but as-long-as others do not impose their values on me, they are free to do as they wish. It's called pluralism and tolerance of others speech whether or not you agree with it. Pampered rich kids on American college campuses have a hard time with this crucial concept necessary for well functioning democracies.

The lady was being a jerk but she expressed herself and did not harm anyone. She has a right to be mad about Islam as it has been used to justify the killing of thousands of Americans and 14 Californians just last week. She did not throw her coffee on anyone - she threw it at them. Big difference. The fact that she would be investigated by a district attorney over an issue that clearly falls into the category of freedom of speech is insane. When America begins using political correctness to shut people up you will get a backlash much worse than just disagreeable speech. No one has to agree with what other people do or say and they have a right to express their disagreement. Taking that right away will find us all living under an Orwellian totalitarianism. That is a cure worse than the disease.

People are way too hyper-sensitive and politically correct for their own good. The lady was a jerk - get over it and move on.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The lady was being a jerk but she expressed herself and did not harm anyone.

Yes, she committed crime when she struck the man's phone camera.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/video-denise-slader-woman-insults-muslims-praying-in-california-park/

That is battery. Coupled with her entirely self-generated verbal abuse directed at the man she battered AND that she is obviously is motivated by religious hatred, yeah, she should be investigated.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Add to the charges that she offended their muslim sensibilities by appearing in their vicinity without the veil.
