Women's groups aim to use Kavanaugh rage to boost voter turnout

Reading some of the comments on Japan Today recently, I'm not sure it will make much of a difference - Republicans are even more determined and sure of Kavanaugh's innocence.

If they are prepared to believe that a woman will make up an accusation of sexual assault for no other reason than to stop an old acquaintance getting a job, then they will happily vote Republican again

Actually I am not a Republican nor am I a supporter of Kavanaugh. I cannot say whether he is innocent or guilty (no one posting here can) but I have a hard time stating a person is guilty of committing this type of act based on the testimony of one person.

I really appreciate the activism and courage of these protesters. But don't forget, there are a lot more of us who might not be able to make it to the Capitol, who can make it to the polls to vote these rascals out. The protest against Judge Kavanaugh is not limited to women; there are lots of old geezers like me that are just as mad.

I believe Ford's allegations and think Kavanaugh has proven himself to be ill-suited for the court because of his demonstrated dishonesty, partisanship, and temperament. However, Democrats should be careful about overplaying this issue. The "me too" movement is indeed provoking a backlash (warranted or not), as did Democrats' reliance on identity politics in the last election.

People of all genders, races, and beliefs should be horrified by the reckless policies and abuses of the Trump administration and the GOP congress. And they should vote for politicians who can prove they have something better for the country as a whole.

If the Democratic Party thinks Trump is being divisive (which he is), it has to play a different game than Trump and the GOP are playing. Don't screw it up next month. Please.

Agree with Laguna. The U.S. will become a one party state which is good so and rightfully so. Kavanaugh is a bump in the road and eventually this will be reversed. Progress always has bumps in the road and this event is no different

College educate women married to men will vote against overreach. Non man-haters will vote against overreach.

College educated men fear that they themselves, their brothers, fathers and sons can be slandered and abused based on nothing more than a 30 year old recollection from nowhere. Its extremely dangerous territory for men and many that don't particularly like Trump or the GOP, like the extremism of the left even less.

Rape accusations have been reduced from a serious matter to a petty way of revenge. Great job Democrats.

Given that there is literally ZERO evidence against Kavanaugh, given how easy it is to make up unfounded allegations - whether for personal or political or financial reasons - and given the huge number of false allegations made against men by women with an ulterior agenda, I think it is men, and indeed ALL those who believe in fairness and justice, who have a right to be angry with the way Kavanaugh was persecuted. Thank goodness justice was done in the end and his appointment was confirmed.

There is a difference between almost dogmatic and radical Women's organizations and rationally motivated organizations that view women and their rights and abilities differently.

There are organizations that try to force changes by intimidation of others for others to change and those that motivate change by example.

I find those who try to force change, especially by physical intimation, extremely harmful for themselves as well others. (For ever action there is an equal reaction. Such is what we label "karma".)

I hope their methods to affect the results at the voting booths, are kept rational, relative and meaningful for all concerned.

We have seem much too much physical intimidation on the political stage.

Why the 'women's anger' over Kavanaugh's appointment? It's more about abortion rights than so called rape enabling. Activist liberal women were angry about his nomination well before Ms Ford's unproven allegation even surfaced.

The blood of the millions of defenseless babies slaughtered in the womb since Roe vs Wade cries out for a halt to this despicable practise.

May the babies and the tens of millions of women who don't support abortion win this war.

The Leftist females will achieve their goal next month. Their co-opting the MeToo movement for their own political agenda will cause U.S. women to turn out in force Nov. 6, but not in the way they will expect. Because of the democrats disgraceful failed attempt to convict Justice Kav by accusations alone, watch for women to go to the polls in droves and vote against mob rule.

As ya can see, there's a big gender gap - with Males at plus-4 support, while Females at negative-14 support (though both trends have been going south since the summer)

I believe Kavanaugh’s innocence all the way and that became more apparent when Ford’s lawyers were couching her, when she was asked if she knew and was told about Grassley’s offer to fly someone to meet and interview her anywhere of her choosing, the fact that she couldn’t remember names and places, the fact her ex-boyfriend said, the years they were dating she was fine with flying anywhere and never said anything to him about what she went through or showed signs of someone that supposedly went through an ordeal like she alleged she did and Susan Collins said it best.

Mr. President, I listened carefully to Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony before the Judiciary Committee. I found her testimony to be sincere, painful, and compelling. I believe that she is a survivor of a sexual assault and that this trauma has upended her life. Nevertheless, the four witnesses she named could not corroborate any of the events of that evening gathering where she says the assault occurred; none of the individuals Professor Ford says were at the party has any recollection at all of that night.

Judge Kavanaugh forcefully denied the allegations under penalty of perjury.

Mark Judge denied under penalty of felony that he had witnessed an assault. PJ Smyth, another person allegedly at the party, denied that he was there under penalty of felony. Professor Ford’s lifelong friend Leland Keyser indicated that, under penalty of felony, she does not remember that party. And Ms. Keyser went further. She indicated that not only does she not remember a night like that, but also that she does not even know Brett Kavanaugh

That did it for me, case closed.

 I too question his temperament, he had no business crying out while being stretched on the rack, but he was certainly more poised than his inquisitors, who don't make themselves look any better by turning on the FBI itself when it doesn't find what they wanted. Protesting because you did not get your way is a tantrum.

If a vote for a democratic majority in the Senate is a vote for the tactics of Sen. Feinstein, or for the boorish behavior of Sens. Blumenthal, Booker and Harris, then that vote may not materialize at all.

What is pathetic is these womens groups are getting up in arms over a fake accusation and pretending there is some conspiracy against women from the political right and they plan to take action. I totally disagree. I believe without a doubt that any man would cry or at the very least would get loud, rude, obnoxious or volatile if you felt wrongly accused of committing a crime, being called a rapist, a child sexual predator, a liar, a drunk and people refuse to give you the benefit of a doubt, your family being threatened, your children being teased and mocked, you have a prestigious job teaching at a university and couching basketball at your child’s school and then you hear they won’t renew your contract because of an alleged allegation, you see your entire career go up in smoke and because we live in the “metoo” era, lack of evidence or no evidence is relevant nowadays, the only thing that matters is being suspected of a crime and a woman has to be believed beyond a shadow of a doubt regardless if you don’t have any evidence to back it up, not to mention the alleged incident supposedly happened when you were 15-16 when we still had a Soviet Union, that annoying cube and clear coke. So when you charged with all of that and going through all of that, like I said, it couldn’t be me that’s for sure. Kavanaugh had every right to get as emotional as he got because any man that went through what he went through could never keep their composure and I’m actually surprised he didn’t get nastier knowing full well what the Democrats were really doing to him.

Guess it will be up to men to lead a men's revolt against uncorroborated, 36 year old allegations by women who can't even remember when or where a supposed attempted rape even took place.

Should the witch hunt commence and men's lives be ruined over such circumstances? I think not. So its up to men to send that message loud and clear and vote Republican and hold their nose while doing it because heaven knows there is a lot about the President to dislike on a personal level in terms of his morality and antics and, depending on where you stand, you might have issues with Republican policy. Then that is something you have to engage with and change at the party level.

Sometimes you have to pick the lesser of two evils and there is no doubt that Trump is the lesser of two evils when you are comparing his antics to the wholesale desire by the democrats to move towards guilty until proven otherwise. That is a red line that should never, ever be breached in a free society and men need to take this seriously.

It could be you, your son, your brother or father in the firing line one day. Make no mistake about it. Don't be naive and assume you won't be impacted. After all, under this scenario, all its taken is the account of one woman of an accident that happened over 3 decades ago. No evidence, no corroboration, she can't remember the exact day or time. That's the sort of flimsy case that can be thrown at you.

Due process must be defended by men and women that know better, but particularly, by men.
