He’s the only smart leader in the world. That makes him a threat.

If USA is the world, yeah

Just another self absorbed old man, does have a huge army but pretty useless. Like Russia large unwieldy and a disgrace against a professional standard. Numbers don’t count when they are vaporised. But like most despots he will die in bed having killed more of his compatriots then anybody else. Good job.

It’s Deng Xiaoping who actually made the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese nation possible.

Mao 2.0 is only taking China a Great Leap Backward, but damaging China might not be such a bad thing in the long run.

The writer, and some people, are quiet presumptuous???

The world?? The world is not just the Anglo Saxon countries plus a FEW neighbors, which are strategic competitors. There are more than 150 countries, in the world.

This month, Chinese diplomats in Manchester, England, beat a protester after dragging him onto the grounds of their consulate.

Nasty, but not quite Putin level of nastiness, Putin sent his goons to Salisbury with Novichok. Both examples show what aging despots, in total control for far too many years, will do to those who do not support them. No wonder they and their pro-authoritarian followers have so much hatred for democracy, and fear individuals having freedoms and rights.

I'm curious who you think an authoritarian Chinese government obsessed with expanding it's borders benefits.

If USA is the world, yeah

That suggests doubling (economic) output from 2020 levels

Good luck with that. Foreign manufacturers tired of the capricious nature of Beijing and the rising cost of labor have been onshoring their production in droves, or seeking more reliable bases such as Vietnam. And once they're gone, they won't come back.

Xi says “the world system is broken and China has answers,” said William Callahan of the London School of Economics.

China's answers are total control by a few selected individuals and no personal freedoms or rights for the masses.

“More and more, Xi Jinping is talking about the Chinese style as a universal model of the world order, which goes back to a Cold War kind of conflict.”

Chinese repression is never going to be a model for the world in any way other than being the system NOT to have. This shows China is no world leader and not even in the running.

The free world will remain free and at some point it is going to have to fight China to retain its freedoms. That much is clear. Jinping wants war, wants to dominate the world and be leader of the planet. He will not stop until that becomes reality or until he is dead.

The world truly is on the road to destruction at the hands of a few really evil men. We need strength to resist China's influences and ambitions. The future looks really bad for everyone.

He is an evil ambitious man who believes nobody else matters but himself and his wishes. That makes him a threat and a danger to everyone everywhere.

Biggest issue with Xi’s Communist Party:

Not a lot of diversity, equity, or inclusion going on in the leadership of the party.

' Ah thank you for your support. I am completely surprised and honored. I promise, I will be the peoples president. Therefore as a good will gesture as of today I will decrease the prison sentences to those who opposed me by 2 years of their 30 year term.'

This lunatic may bring the whole world down with his delusions and cold hearted, calculated hypocrisy. Xi has drunk his own Kool aid. Heart goes out to the sorry sods that have to live his lie to survive. Must be a constant source of background angst and stress. Our generations Dr. Evil, just not funny. Got the outfit down an all.

“the world system is broken and China has answers,”

The truly amazing thing is that it doesn't. After a much-touted 5000 years of civilisation, China offers nothing; no model or wisdom for the world to live by, just cynical, charmless, authoritarian power. Is it really possible they learned nothing in that time? In fact, it has mostly taken on the worst that the West has ever come up with and pursued it to a ridiculous degree.

Everybody under constant surveillance and control as stated. Great place not be or go to. We’ll be lucky to see one single solitaryChinese person here anytime soon.

Whatever threats people are imagining of China, it's nothing compared to threats posed by the USA and allies.

Who's involved now with actual wars and armed conflict all over the world? Who's actually murdering people at this moment?

It's the USA and allies.

Xi is only a threat to people, insecure of him, Cassandra's

I've read that the HKD days are numbered, and that Xi doesn't really care that much about the Economy - which maybe why the HSI index dropped over 6% today.

China currently operates so-called Police Stations globally. They're not always in a dedicated Office, but sometimes in places as obscure as a Chinese Restaurant. The Official purpose (or what they've said) is to provide travel assistance to Chinese Citizens - however the real purpose is to conduct/coordinate spying activities, as well as monitoring expat Chinese, and in some cases coercing them to return to China.

If Australia had any courage, and was not corrupted by the mining industry, it could have stopped iron ore sales to China at the point China stopped barley, wine etc and slowed down coal imports. China clearly uses trade as a weapon. It is an unreliable partner. Australia could have found some flimsy pretext to stop iron ore going to China. This is bigger than profits for BHP.

Eh, maybe not. Even probably not if the west maintains a credible military that is viewed as capable of defeating any Chinese aggressions. That is the critical consideration. China has more than enough internal problems that will likely consume an increasing amount of the CCP leadership's bandwidth. Shortages of water for agriculture, for cities and for generating hydropower, rivers too shallow for ships to ply as they do now, power outages forcing factories and businesses to close, and most of all a population angry and frustrated with CCP rule. Young Chinese have adopted a culture of "lying flat", meaning doing as little as possible to get by. The rewards for working hard are no longer there. What happened to Jack Ma and other tech giants is a positive deterrent to entrepreneurship in China and wealthy Chinese are look for ways to get out with their money knowing the Chinese government could take everything they ever worked for on a whim. On top of this repression costs a lot of money. Secret police, internet monitoring and censorship, prisons, etc, all cost a lot of money and those costs will only increase as Xi tries to tighten social control. The increasing cost of security will take money that could be used for other things and not improve the economic lot of the country. Something is going to pop in China. Xi might not make it through his third term.

Mao destroyed everything that was once good in China. All that is left after the Great Leap Forward, the Cultural Revolution and Tiananmen Square is a gold rush mentality to get rich. Now Xi is trying to eliminate that ambition in favor of raw, unchecked state power. Taiwan is the standing reproach to the CCP's model of authoritarianism. They represent what China could be with the CCP gone.

world is not equal to USA.

Most of Europe and Africa dislike China and distrust them. The Czechs and Lithuanians have been particulary harsh in their criticism but even Germany is now questioning their business relations with them, seeing them as potentially exploitive. Papua New Guinea found out the hard way not to trust China when their "data center" ostensibly to support business turned out to be nothing more than an intelligence monitoring post for the PLA. In Africa Chinese mine owners are widely hated and occasionally killed. The rebels in Baluchistan state in Pakistan kill Chinese at every opportunity, resentful of the way they have run local fishermen out of the waters off Gwadar and how there are no jobs for locals, only for Chinese. And then there are the nations bordering the South China Sea all of whom have disputes with China that have been greatly exacerbated by the policies of Xi Jinping. China has many enemies in the world where before it had mostly friends, and that is entirely due to the language and policies of Xi Jinping.

It takes two to boogie and with the US cutting China off from advanced silicon it only encourages China to cozy up with Putin's Russia. Hopefully when Xi and Biden meet in Indonesia next month the two countries can begin meaningful dialog leading to a reduction of tension in the region.

Wasting their time. The Russians are technologically behind China in most areas.

If he can continue to sidestep the war that America seems to so keenly desire, then he should be steering the boat. The Ruling psychopaths in America are doing their best to stir up a storm but Mr. Xi's hand seems steady on the helm and we must hope for the many, many thousands of innocent lives at stake that he can maintain that steadiness...

One source of a different opinion towards whats going on within China has been from his guy:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guo_Wengui

He apparently predicted a lot of stuff that has actually happened, such as COVID, and the Lockdowns, etc. though, he's also apparently had some dubious dealings over the years, which certainly doesn't help his cause, and with involvement from Steve Bannon, puts the Republicans into bad light.... of course, the CCP could also be behind the take-down of this guy.... (which ironically is the theme for his entree into the Music scene... "Take down the CCP".... )

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/08/23/guo-wengui-sued-by-investors-in-media-company.html

Anyway, his latest post suggests that there's a friction between the Shanghai leadership group and that of Xi's

He's also now promoting a crypto currency (formerly G-coin, but now) H-Coin, upon the "Himalia Exchange", and suggesting that it will become the defacto-currency once the CCP has gone....

To me, he sounds like a SCAM artist.
