Cold water needs to be poured all over this situation as quickly as possible.

The UN should step in to deescalate things.
India and Pakistan are nuclear powers, and it's been calculated already that a conflict between the two using these weapons would be enough to create a catastrophic nuclear winter.

Luckily the US can provide a steadying influence with the leadership Trump provides. Nothing this difficult conflict poses that he can’t solve in a tweet or two between Big Mac naps.

The soon-to-be residents of Pakistan and India hated each other long before Ghandi's movement that led to the separation of India from the British. Hated each other. Nothing has changed. The hatred boils over, attacks occur, someone somewhere convinces the haters to calm down, and everyone then waits for the next attacks to occur.
The only difference between the hatred of the 1940's and the hatred of today is that both participants have nuclear weapons.

I can see how a F-16 can shoot down a Mig 21 but a Mig 21 shooting down a F-16 is a bit of a stretch.
