China should pull all Trump trademarks in China and "misplace" all Trump related deals/licenses/customs paperwork/occupancy approvals for any Trump-branded anything, indefinitely.

Make it personal.

Why? Trump is a major investor in China. It's because of people like him that China has such a massive trade imbalance.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

CNBC’s Jim Cramer said Friday that many Americans support President Donald Trump’s trade war with China, but contended that their voices are being drowned out. “We simply, as a people, seem to be united that the president's position is wrong. I hear more of that on TV than I hear reality. I think that there are a lot of people [who say], ‘Thank you for standing up for us,’”

the losing side is always the most vocal...

Hold the line!

You hold the line. Trump and I are going to China.

And the lefts solution is.......

Oh, that’s what I thought. ROFL

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

We should be working with our allies to isolate China

HA! Good joke, that was a nice one.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

All this will do is encourage the rest of the world to increase trade with each other while avoiding the US.

Yeah, right! Lol

Trump is not a 'major' investor in China.

China's trade surplus with the US hit a record high in 2017, 275.81 billion. This is only one year.

China is most vocal and will be the losing side without the vast American market to dump their products.

American soybean farmers wondering if Trump has made the right decision which is costing them millions.

They should be fine, most don’t like a trade war, but most don’t like how the trade practices have been over the last 30 years and want it change, even Schumer supports Trump, imagine that?

Hold the line!

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

They should be fine

How will the soybean farmers be fine when they lose their market and China will replace them with soybean from Brazil and once that is done there's no way back for the American farmers.

In a trade war producers and consumers generally lose on both sides.

Trump is not a 'major' investor in China. oh his 500million loan from the China development bank for his Indonesia resort seems hes got a lot relying in the Chinese, seems that loan may suddenly mature and the interest rate rise dramatically, Ivankas trade marks may be challenged in Chinese courts by another Chinese brand with a similar name. LOL

China delivers a big loan to a Trump project

Trump stands to gain from an Indonesian project that got a $500 million loan right before he flip-flopped on ZTE.

The moron in chief may have a point when he wants to fix the obscene trade barriers with China. But he is too much of a clown to get it done the right way.  Does he think that the Chinese haven't read his book or watched how he has handled other issues?  I assure you that they have studied every detail of everything he has ever done.  Conversely, it appears he does absolutely no research on how to handle them. He doesn't listen to the huge staff of experts at his very disposal.  In his egocentric mind, his opinion is golden and everyone will eventually bow down to his highness. But in actuality, he his walking around a glass house carrying a sledge hammer.

There are the Trump haters, so blinded with hate, they cannot see, must less understand, the meaning of fair trade.

All Trump has ever asked for is . . . fair trade. If it takes tariffs to bring about fair trade, so be it. Trump will win. China has much much more to lose.

Unfortunately you’re entirely correct. He’s making things worse, not better.

All Trump has ever asked for is . . . fair trade.

And yet he had never traded fair, nor is he trying to trade fair now. So why the hell would anyone ever want to accede to his hissy fits?

Of course not, if socialism is not involved it, how would they, they’re inability to understand economics is not at all surprising especially when you take other people’s money and pass it along to someone else.

Your link does not explain how the American soybean farmers will recover their lost markets. China has alternatives for soybean which is used mainly for animal feed and mainly for pigs. China could import another crop like sorghum or it can import from a cheaper country like Brazil. When those American farmers lose their markets they'll lose their income. The fields are already green with plants but they don't know what will happen come harvest time.

Soy imports in the first four months of 2018 were 26.49 million tonnes, down from 27.54 million in the same period in 2017, the customs data showed.

A ship laden with U.S. soybeans that was steaming toward northern China looks to have lost its race to arrive before import duties are imposed.

Sure, it’s going to hurt a bit, but it would be worse if the economy were under 2% but since it’s on a high now, there is some cushion, bottom line, we can’t let China and these unfair trade practices continue, see where this takes us, now I know liberals don’t care about the farmers, they care more about the cows passing gas and burping into the atmosphere and creating holes in The Ozone.

Uh- huh..

https://www.rrfn.com/2018/06/21/will-brazil-meet-chinas-demand/

Anyway, we shall see, but this hurts China just as much.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Hold the line!

America couldnt do that against the Chinese during the Korean war, how do they think theyll manage it now with the economic power the Chinese have grown to today.

"Trump is not a 'major' investor in China. oh his 500 million loan from the China development bank for his Indonesia resort."

Indonesia is not a part of China, Trump invested in Indonesia, not China, regardless where the money came from.

"China blames U.S. for 'largest-scale trade war' as tariffs kick in."

There have been, and now are, many non-tariff barriers imposed by Canada, Japan, the EU, Japan and China. , Many hidden with import regulations. to restrict and inhibit free and fair trade between the US.

Until now, the US has just accepted these unfair trade barriers. Everyone prior to Trump was afraid of a trade war, and afraid of the media political beating we now see against Trump.

All of this will change as Trump holds the winning hand.

This is where Trump’s NY real estate experiences come into play. He will take the hits until the other guy folds. EU will fold and come to the negating table as their economies are now slowing.

I guess you don't have to worry about your income and markets, like the soybean farmers because according to your own words you are rich with a private jet and can afford private healthcare for all your family, but there are no soybean farmers in your position of safety, and therefore it not about politics for them its about safe guarding their families and children and as a conservative I think you can at least show a little sympathy for their concerns over Trump's tariffs.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

This is not over yet, lets see what Trump is going to do to help American soybean farmers. From increased tariffs perhaps he will subsidize any loses. This is the right thing to do.

I am still waiting for someone to tell me as to how offset- these large surpluses created by protectionist and unfair trade practices.

Actually, there is very little manufactured in the US today. Much of America;s industries have been destroyed with unfair trade tactics.

America has become a nation of servants, import, truck, warehouse, truck or train to wholesale warehouses, truck to retail outlets, deliver and repair service.

As Trump has repeatedly pointed out, "America has been had for the last 40 years, now the game is over."

Amen. Our Lord and Savior Donald Trump be praised. Only He has had the wisdom to reduce the complexities of global economics into an easy-to-digest cheeseburger of a policy.

Continuing to wait for someone to tell me how those yearly large trade imbalances with China can be off set that were created by dumping and one-sided free trade. No snide comments please, only a good explanation.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Ray. I have a great amount of disdain for Trump but I agree with you on this. The trade imbalances were created decades ago to satisfy corporate greed for cheap labor and very lax environmental regulations.
