One of the dumbest, least covered moves of the Trump era was rejecting the TPP.

Apart from the idiot Navarro, you cannot find a PhD. - level Economist that is not in favor of free trade. The reasoning is simple. It provides more, better goods to a higher number of people at a lower cost.

It also inter-connects economies making war less likely. It improves productivity by introducing external competitors.

Granted, free trade is not perfect. On the micro-scale there are losers. And the benefits are diffuse while the costs can be acute.

But on the whole, trade is good; trade works. I hope the GOP abandons Trump’s idiotic trade practices and returns to the party of trade as a method of economic and employment growth.
