China still has its partner Russia.

To save everyone, sanction do nothing, just decouple with China, since you can't contain China.

Just decouple everyone happy.

China will survive without 5 eyes or EU so does the rest of the world.

-5 ( +9 / -14 )

Isn't it possible for the US to deal with China one on one?

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

Unlike the first Cold War when China (and Russia) were economically separated from the West, this time China is more than fully integrated with the world economy. If the current situation continues to escalate further down the path of economic sanctions and retaliation, everyone's going to feel the hurt. Maybe that parallels the situation back in the post-WW2 days, when MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) kept major powers from using nuclear weapons on each other. Except this time, so far, it's economic weapons we're talking about.

If it weren't for Xi, and what is starting to look like a truly monomaniacal conviction that he's the only one in China with the truth and the vision to carry the country forward, maybe China could be "persuaded" to take a step back from its current path of internal political repression and external territorial expansionism. As it is, if things keep going this way, better be prepared to tighten your belts.

China still has its partner Russia.

Uh... ok. Must have CNN on IV drip.

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

Lol hypocrites

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

Good first step in the largest mass incarceration since the Holocaust.

Next, boycott the winter Olympics.

14 ( +19 / -5 )

Uh... ok. Must have CNN on IV drip.

Don't watch it, nor do I follow your Breitbart and RT. Reality: China needs little old agrarian Russia's wheat - and more importantly its oil and gas.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

This is not 1901 where the west alliance humiliate China with Opium war Boxer Protocol, The day of extortion are over, never ever again will China be humiliated again.

-11 ( +5 / -16 )

Good first step in the largest mass incarceration since the Holocaust.

Absolutely, and we shouldn't stop there- the 5 eyes and the EU really need to politically and economically isolate China and Russia and send a message to the rest of the world- pick a side.

8 ( +15 / -7 )

And yet business as usual carries on in the world, got to think of the economy and profit for our business leaders before anything else

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

The day of extortion are over, never ever again will China be humiliated again.

Now it humiliates itself by locking up its citizens en masse in a form of ethnic cleansing we haven't seen for a generation. It is a stain that will affect the image of China for many years.

I would be so embarrassed to be Chinese with my government doing this.

Block access of China to US Dollars and then you'll see it implode

Block access of China to US Dollars and then you'll see it implode

And Walmart and Costco shelves will be empty.

Then the West will implode after about a week.

-7 ( +6 / -13 )

never ever again will China be humiliated again.

Very childish to use humiliation to justify committing atrocities and abuse of its citizens and its international obligations.

Would have thought China was an adult by now.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

As a citizen of the European Union and a supporter of human rights and democracy I’m proud that we took initiative together with the U.S. and the U.K. against the many violations of human rights of the Chinese government.

If China wants to strike back with such sneaky tactics so be it.

The west must stay compact and firm against their bullying and their violations of human rights.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

Good on these nations. It is to be hoped the Suga Cabinet will soon follow suit and announce strong trade restrictions on Communist PRC.

The ethnic/religious cleansing of the Muslim Uighurs, locking them up in concentration camps and executing many, can no longer be ignored, no matter what the China apologists say. Worst since the Nazi holocaust.

International companies doing business in/with China - TESLA, Toyota, Apple etc etc - should be targeted and boycotted until they pull out.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

About time!!!

What is happening in Xinjiang is nothing short of a genocide. Take action now.

Let’s not repeat the 1930s again!!!

7 ( +12 / -5 )

No mention of over 2 million Americans incarcerated, many in private prisons, practically forced to work for 10 cents an hour.

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

Here ss today's daily dose of anti-China propaganda. Genocide? Internment camps? Just because its in the news EVERYDAY doen't make it real. Anyone remember the WMDs in Iraq? The photos? , the proof? The BS.

Communist PRC apologist alert ^^

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Well, it’s a start. It’s hard to tell how effective this move will be, but at least they’re taking a stand together as one.

This is not 1901 where the west alliance humiliate China with Opium war Boxer Protocol, The day of extortion are over, never ever again will China be humiliated again.

Alliances are created when a nation threatens others all at the same time. China has failed to learn from history. China is only humiliating itself.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

EU have many own problems to care take about and many issues as well.

Immigration policy, covid vaccination, economy issues as top 3 at this moment.

Its Chinas own business to take care about own domestic issues. Its non EU business at all.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

The wumaos are out in force defending the Chinese dictatorship with false information as the entire world unites to stop it. Territorial expansion by force, genocide of an entire people, cybertheft, linking economics to strategic goals with the goal of geopolitical domination by a country lead by people not voted in by it's citizens, is not accetable in the 21st century. The bevior of other nations in the 20th century does not justify it today.

China's rapid growth for the last two decades had the support of the world. 2020 has changed all that.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Good to see that also EU starts to recognize what is happening and stays firm with US. This is something we miss before. Thank you EU.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Communist PRC apologist alert ^^

Blind jingoistic military interventionist alert ^^

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

So the US government is now the sole arbiter of truth on JT?

Seems to be so. Iraqi WMDs anyone?

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

No mention of over 2 million Americans incarcerated, many in private prisons, practically forced to work for 10 cents an hour.

PRC propaganda is like their ideology, idiotic.

xi probably should learn from Germany of the 1930s and 40s. there is only so far people will tolerate you. When they come down, they come down hard.....

7 ( +10 / -3 )

So the US government is now the sole arbiter of truth on JT?

Sometimes it helps to actually read something.

The United States, the European Union, Britain and Canada imposed sanctions on Chinese officials

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Chinese even deny in the face of over whelming evidence presented to them. Calling it all fake.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Do you have proof it is ‘fiction’?

No, but those behind all the anti-China propaganda are disgusting individuals and institutions.

I would hardly call Beijing's usual wolf wanker talk as "hitting back".

6 ( +7 / -1 )

China can sanctions European or other countries with "Covid19 Vaccines"! No exports of Chinese made or formulated Covid19 Vaccines to those countries who sanctions China first!

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

The US, is still on its march Westwards with its Cowboy imperialism that's embedded and embodied in the galloping horse that delivers messages of freedom and redemption throughout the dark world. And like Iraq, Syria, Lybia ( muslim populations) etc, the Uighurs, too, are in need of the Cowboy's silver bullet from the US' machinery that bring " freedom"..but we can't deny the fact that it has unfailingly left a message of death and terror in the aftermath.

As for the " expansionist" China, I wanna ask, what's the US ? Ok to most, the US is the real estate north of mexico and South of Canada, ok, Alaska , ok Hawaii, ok Puerto Rico. A few more would think Samoa, Marianas, Guam but I guess you get the picture.

China expansionist ? Convince me, by reason.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

It's about time that the west stood up to the arrogance of Communist China.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Love it! Time to stop handling the CCP with kid gloves. The CCP deserves every bad thing that happens to them.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

China denies all accusations of abuse.

Very surprised by this.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

After reading comments I must say - Vivant M.A.D.! Vivant professores who made Nuclear Weapon real! If Russia and China haven't had it Third World War would be already started.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

This da-kine ‘dramatic ’ move by the EU , Canada and the USA and maybe NZ and OZ is a charade.

I’ll be impressed if all these ’human rights’ loving countries give Taiwan diplomatic recognition asap no matter what the PROC says .

If they can blah blah for Xinjiang then why not for democratic TW that is now being threatened by PLA invasion?

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

If the Chinese believe it to be nothing more than a western conspiracy then allow investigators into Xinjiang to monitor the situation.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

China can't take the criticism and has to sass off to Europe. Wah.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

I spent a month in Xinjiang a few decades ago. The Uighurs are the most gentle, generous of people.

China expansionist ? Convince me, by reason.

Cogito Ergo Sum, what China is doing is similar to what America did to the native Americans in the 19th C. The difference is that that was in the 19th C. and this is now. Xinjiang, Tibet, and various other regions in the southeast which were forcefully integrated into China relatively recently do not want to be part of China or at least want real autonomy. https://search.yahoo.co.jp/image/search?ei=UTF-8&fr=mcafeess1&p=autonomous%20tibet%20and%20xinjiang#3639efb9759b84ef6faec55fbacff4d2

Its Chinas own business to take care about own domestic issues

So there is a issue in Xinjiang, now that's revelation.. so what other domestic issues are you talking about.

I share that basic fundamental need for freedom to every single person. In our different but powerless perches, I see China's position as a reaction to historic traumas, and it's determination not to have those repeated.

In 1962 China fought with India and despite advancing many kms Inside, China returned back to the status quo. Same with Vietnam in 1979, unlike others who would have set military bases there, China did otherwise. So "expansionist" doesn't hold water, at least to me.

The UN was set up ostensibly to arbitrate these kind of cases too, and, it's a credible, inclusive, civil and cheap way of problem solving, but I'd think addressing the fundamental fears of China is a good place to start.

We're all OK with that.

Revisionist history doesn't change actual history. China has occupied Tibet, forcibly, and is still there marginalizing the local population. The genocide in Xinjiang was a step too far, and like a German leader in the 1930s and 40s, xi's delusions of invincibility will be shattered.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

How can China even bring up the subject of human rights and target nations that are more powerful than it? Whereas China is the only nation that does not even allow its citizens to enjoy basic human rights, and now that the CCP has created issues in Myanmar, Xinjiang, and many other nations, the world is looking to China as an anti-human rights nation.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

If the west care so much about human right, do the right thing and DECLARE Taiwan INDEPENDENCE.
