Oh my...

What Trump said about North Korean nukes in 1999

"despite skepticism at home that Pyongyang will abandon its nuclear weapons following this week's summit.|

Well, there's certainly more hope now for this than at any time during the eight years of the Obama presidency.

Oh my...

The action-movie style trailer Trump says he played to Kim Jong-un

Maybe were all looking at this wrong, perhaps with the way Trump is annoying the rest of the world he's looking for new trading partners! North Korea today, Syria and Somalia tomorrow?

I wonder whether Kim will be able to uphold his own side of the bargaining due to internal pressures within his own Country that we're not privy to.

@marcelito, great post, exactly how i feel.

As for Trump putting the military exercises on hold, why are so many people getting their knickers in a twist?...whats wrong with a goodwill gesture such as this being in effect whilst the whole denuclearization process is being hammered out.

Exactly. And remember a couple of months ago ppl complained ( I sure did) when Trump decided to resume joint military exercises with SK despite post Olympics 'good vibes' & Koreas rapprochement efforts! And now that he's agreed to suspend (temporarily) military drills the very same ppl reckon that he's offered too much, that it's a dangerous move etc. smh.

Not many things/ppl I dislike more than those who criticize for the sake of criticism. I think DT's done a pretty decent job re NK (still far too much bragging though "Everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office," ... haha come off it!)

North Korea kept all of its nuclear arms. Kept all of its Intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Kept all of their uranium. Kept all of their plutonium.

Made absolutely no commitment to end their nuclear weapons program.

Made no steps towards verification.

Not yet, this is the first step and guess what, no money was exchanged.

Stated that there would be no meeting without CVID.

There was no C. No V. No I. No D. Made no timetable. They kept: Everything.

They gave: Nothing. Trump gave up our defensive perimeter in South Asia. For nothing. He removed sanctions--our only economic leverage. For nothing.

He legitimized a regime that murders its citizens, keeps them in concentration camps, and shoots them if they try to leave the country. For nothing.

But not mentioning them with Iran or Cuba like the last administration did was ok?

China--which gave Trump $500 million for his personal use--received exactly what they wanted.

Russia--which wishes to destroy the Western alliance and strengthen the rogue regime--received exactly what they wanted.

Trump is a reckless, deluded destroyer, ever in search of praise and personal gain.

He has now alienated our strongest allies--and rewarded a murderous dictator.

For personal gain and due to kompromat.

So we should ignore a nuclear power because the left are having a hissy fit?

He must go.

You’ll get your wish in 6 years.

Thoughtful post Stranger.

While the Trump - Kim meeting has a large positive in - at least now the ice is broken and further constructive dealings possible - however admidst all the fanfare, grandstanding and self-congratulatory rhetoric, one critical point has been waylaid by most people involved, most media and most commenters. That is the Panmunjom Declaration signed by Kim & SK President Moon 6 weeks ago in April.

In Part - "..............Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification on the Korean Peninsula.

*

“South and North Korea will actively cooperate to establish a permanent and solid peace regime on the Korean peninsula. Bringing an end to the current unactual state of armistice and establishing a robust peace regime on the Korean peninsula is a historical mission that must not be delayed any further,” the declaration read in part.

*

The two countries also agreed “to actively seek the support and cooperation of the international community for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula..................”

The Bread & Circuses event in Sentosa actually was far more vague in it's productive substance, but still to be welcomed as a start.

In addition to Moon, China's consultations and influence with Kim have been well underplayed by the Powers (USA Inc et al), as they have not been privy to the nuts & bolts of those discussions. So in order to detract shine the light on ones-self.

What you have written is well said, but will be ignored by the Trump haters. They are so blinded with their hatred, they cannot see the truth.

I didn't ignore it, I directly replied to it with a quote.

Haters gonna hate but the fact that NK announced to their own people for the first time ever they will give up nukes is pretty telling about their intentions.

What is there to hate about that? That's a good thing.

Midnight Sun,

This is a ridiculous statement.

"Trumps supporters hate the USA enough to grovel and vehemently revel in incompetence."

Trump supporters love the USA, that's why he was elected president under our democratic system, President of the United States of America.

I do wish people would stop with falsehoods.

FYI, some of the news in North Korea :

http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/north-korea-asia-day-after-summit-1.4703802

"President Trump appreciated that an atmosphere of peace and stability was created on the Korean Peninsula and in the region, although distressed with the extreme danger of armed clash only a few months ago, thanks to the proactive peace-loving measures taken by the respected Supreme Leader from the outset of this year," said a summary of the leaders' summit by the North's state-run Korean Central News Agency.

"Kim Jong-un and Trump had the shared recognition to the effect that it is important to abide by the principle of step-by-step and simultaneous action in achieving peace, stability and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," KCNA reported.

Still sounds like good old North Korea, alright.

If Obama cut the deal you guys would be prancing around and hooting

So... what deal was cut exactly in this instance? Nothing NK said suggested anything different to their position after meeting with Moon, long before the summit. The only thing that changed was Trump's position. As others have been saying... the meeting was a good thing. It gets them talking. That's great. But as yet nobody knows what the finer details are other than the US giving up on something, and that was never going to happen according to Trump, his team, and all of you guys. So one more time... aside from Trump meeting Kim, what was achieved that hadn't already been achieved before the summit?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Haters gonna hate but the fact that NK announced to their own people for the first time ever they will give up nukes is pretty telling about their intentions.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

In 3 yrs, after everything is verified, then I'll believe it to be true.

Good 1st step. Nothing more.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

i find the complaints about what was a pretty big and positive step towards peace by Trump and KJU ridiculous . What do people expect , that everything would have been agreed to and every detail covered in just this first meeting?

I think very few on the left have a problem with the fact that the meeting happened, nor even with the actual result overall, as the result is a step forward. What people are pointing out:

1) The right freaked out when Obama even suggested meeting with enemies. Now they are acting holier than thou when Trump decides to do it. It's blatantly hypocritical.

2) Trump went on and on about how NK must denuclearize before they would even meet. But once again bait-and-switch Don baited and switched. NK did not agree to this before meeting, and the end result was much watered down from his initial demands.

3) The current hysteria was created from Trump chest bumping with Kim in the first place. It's hard to praise someone for stopping their unreasonable behavior, when they were the ones to initiate it in the first place.

4) After going on for months about how the previous presidents sucked for not resolving the situation, we have ended up in the same situation we've been through with NK in the past. They have agreed to denuclearize before, and they've also acted conciliatory in the past, to get everyone back to the negotiating table, only to bail further down the line. So now even though Trump is in a position which they have already declared to be suboptimal, there is rejoice going on about 'winning'. It's more hypocrisy.

Talk is always better than war. Always. So Trump talking with Kim is a good thing. And if he can actually bring denuclearization, I'll give the guy the praise he'll deserve for getting there. It's a good goal, and will be a great result. But just as when the right were prematurely going on about the nobel before any peace had been achieved before, they are going on about success now when we're just back to where we were before Trump got all huffy in the first place.

Come on Bass, do you honestly think that the Republicans don't do back-door deals..... Time to take those blinkers off. Don't forget that it was the Republicans that watered down Obama-care, threw hissy fits, like trump, when they don't get what they want. Both sides can be just as bad as each other.

No, I never said that and I don’t believe that, I know that sometimes they do deals, but they are not good at lying. Republicans have never been good at lying on anything. But when it comes to Democrats they are experts at it, when it comes to Obama care, fast and furious, the disastrous Iran deal, the deal with Cuba. For the Democrats, everything is about a quick deal paint off people like our enemies billions of dollars and then covering up the deals. You have corruption on both sides, but the Democrats are masters at collision and deception.

Trump gets bashed for having NK sign a denuclearization agreement

Unreal. I think some people are brainwashed by the celebs and media who bash Trump. Look at the unemployment numbers and stocks. He accomplished a lot and will probably get re-elected for it.

The fact that NK has come out in public and announced to their OWN PEOPLE that they are giving up nukes is historic and people who do not see that are just being ignorant on purpose

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

the left once again, moaning and crying that they get the results they wanted.

Do you count Marco Rubio, Erick Erickson, Ben Shapiro, Wolfpack, and other conservatives as "the left"?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

So sick to watch Trump kiss the behinds of all these dictators while taking a dump on allies.

Trump is famous for saying, "America First!" when he actually means "Trump First!"

He talked privately with this little monster and later told reporters what wonderful man Kim is and how lovely the beaches in N. Korea are.

Did he make any secret real-estate deals with Kim while they were talking in private?

This is a major problem when you have a president, a businessman and real-estate developer all rolled up into one. Trump would sell America downriver in a heartbeat if it meant a profit for numero uno.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

@nostromo

lets see some substance Donnie - not just photo ops.... where does Kim stand on his nationwide gulags or have we given up on this sort of moral leadership??

There never was any moral leadership....

Just as a side note, Trump seems to look better in this photo and a little more human without his 'power' ties.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

If Cohen is arrested, as some say he soon will be, I'm worried Trump will become even more erratic on the world stage.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Bwahahaha! The DPRK have promised nuclear disarmament every couple of years for nearly two decades, but never have. What makes Trump believe they will do it this time?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

So what does Abe Shinzo believe? Has his friend Donald reassured him?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Who cares what the Democrats think? There’s no way any of them could have pulled off what President Trump just did.

You are correct, and that's because any Dem who had acted like Trump would have been physically hauled from the White House and pilloried.

Pressed on how the agreement would be verified, he said: “Of course it will...I find that question insulting and ridiculous and frankly ludicrous.”

It's not the question which is insulting and ridiculous and frankly ludicrous, it is the complete absence of a credible reply.

Trump has brought vaporware to the Oval Office.

North Korea is no longer even a nuclear threat, full stop.

North Korea still has nuclear weapons. They still have ICBMs. They still have centrifuges. They still have testing facilities. And they’ve made no commitments whatsoever—neither explicitly nor in any other way—to so much as slow down their nuke program, let alone abandon it.

Trump is lying. His followers are not simply dupes. They are insane.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

@Bass

But I understand liberals don’t know how to negotiate, they want to make the quickest deals possible so that they could sit there and say to their base we won something and if it means a backdoor deal to shovel billions of dollars, that’s OK as well. As far as Iran is concerned, they can either do the right thing or they can severely suffer the consequences, not only from us, but from Israel, Saudi Arabia, most of the Sunni states.

Come on Bass, do you honestly think that the Republicans don't do back-door deals..... Time to take those blinkers off. Don't forget that it was the Republicans that watered down Obama-care, threw hissy fits, like trump, when they don't get what they want. Both sides can be just as bad as each other.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

No one is feeling safer. Kim still has nukes and he still leads a Socialist/Communist dictatorship. How many times in the past has North Korea agreed to a deal and either immediately or soon thereafter reneged on it - three, four times? I suppose meeting is better than having missiles lobbed over Japan but history would suggest that it’s highly unlikely that there will be much to celebrate when all is said and done. Yes- put me down as skeptical.

cla68: why still obsessed with Hillary?

I can’t speak fo cla68 of course, but maybe it’s because we are still seeing Hillary on tv every other night coming up with new reasons as to how she lost to the second worst presidential candidate in US history. We all know who the number 1 worst candidate was.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

"There is no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea."

Is Trump OK?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Trump hasn't pulled off anything. He had a nice photo op show, got Kim to sign off on vague promises that are the same as before, agreed with Kim that our joint exercises with our ally South Korea are "provocative", shaken up both South Korea and Japan with his talk of pulling out US troops to China's delight, and most importantly has NOT removed the North Korean threat. I guess if one is stupid enough to vote for and support him one is stupid enough to believe he actually accomplished something.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Trump was told by his bosses to settle with North Korea at all costs so attention to be diverted to Iran.

Lol, you are probably the most funniest person on JT. Love your jokes, really, really do.

He didn't care about the content of the deal, only that a deal was cut, watch as America's military starts to pivot towards Iran.

Oh, please, none of the other Presidents got this far, the left once again, moaning and crying that they get the results they wanted. So let’s see what they want to do. Even without the US, the Saudi’s and Israel will not allow a nuclear Iran In the region.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

These are same democrats who trust Iran and give money to Palestinians.. haha

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

The threat Trump removed was the one he created by escalating the situation.

This is like a man who beats his wife, then tells her she should thank him when he stops, since there is no more violence.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

We'll just wait and see. Both are unpredictable and not so cool headed (Trump) more so, that there is no real way of knowing what will happen next. Moon Jae-in should be taking most of the credit for this, he has done most of the ground work, but in typical Trump style, takes all of the credit.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

No president from Reagan through Obama could have pulled this off: concede on war games, call the USA's military's actions provocative, and get nothing but the same flabby platitudes NK delivers year after year. Fortunately, Trumps supporters hate the USA enough to grovel and vehemently revel in incompetence.

For his next act, "These aren't the droids you're looking for..."

8 ( +11 / -3 )

cla68: why still obsessed with Hillary?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

One meeting does not remove the threat just because HE says so. There is far too much history that says otherwise.

Jumping to conclusions is one thing that Trump is a master of doing, sadly far too many people respond in kind!

8 ( +12 / -4 )

Who cares what the Democrats think? There’s no way any of them could have pulled off what President Trump just did. Hillary and Kim, yeah right LOL.
