Trump Voter: What? Me Worry?

5 ( +16 / -11 )

Whats to worry about? Fair and free trade here we go.

-1 ( +11 / -12 )

Mexico? Um.. not worried...

-1 ( +10 / -11 )

trump just cannot see the harm he is creating. The, you bite me I will bite back, just eludes the white house.

Mexico, bite back HARD.

9 ( +15 / -6 )

Trump States should proudly sacrifice for MAGA.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

And here... we... go !

Please put your helmet and safety belt on, and enjoy the crash !

10 ( +13 / -3 )

Trump is so simple-minded, it's not funny. Good on Mexico for pushing back to show that trade wars are not as wonderful as DT thinks. Wait till Mexico increases the price of avocados and tequila!

11 ( +15 / -4 )

Whatever happens- the next few months of politics are going to get very interesting.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Way to go, Mexico! Hasta la vista, Gringo loco!

9 ( +13 / -4 )

I am glad Mexico has made good on their threats. Canada’s is set to be imposed on July 1st, the nation’s birthday no less.

There are plenty of other countries that will be happy to sell Mexico and Canada pork and other goods.

Foreign countries regard Trump as the president of the red states only. Accordingly every tariff retaliation will be against red state products. Lets see what that will do to their exports- probably will end up with them becoming bigger "taker" states.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Why doesn't anyone comment on the negative effects to the Mexican consumer? Will they stop eating U.S. pork and stop drinking U.S. bourbon?

When the U.S. government mandated ethanol from food corn to be blended in gasoline, the price to tortillas in Mexico jumped from 75 cents to $1.50. Our corn farmers made out while the Mexican consumers were shafted.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

Bullying tactics by trump are uniting countries - i feel for the majority of americans who didn't vote for this

9 ( +12 / -3 )

Mexico is used to extracting jobs and money from Americans. Well, Americans have decided that they can’t afford it anymore. So Mexico is outraged that someone wants to stop their gravy train. They’ll get over it.

-16 ( +3 / -19 )

The biggest threat to U.S. national security is Donald J. Trump and his team.

11 ( +15 / -4 )

Am afraid Mexico alone can't do much to counter Trump. They were on the verge of collapse not that long ago and need us $ more than us need pesos.

Trump's negotiating from a position of strength and can afford to play Russian roulette with minnows like Mexico (unfortunately). Mex, Can the EU and others must unite their efforts. Not going to be pretty.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Mexico is used to extracting jobs and money from Americans.

Jobs? What jobs are being stolen by immigrants from skilled, qualified Americans who are actively job-hunting?

To: The Looney Left,

How did you think this was going to go? The US runs about $1 trillion deficit in trade every year! If you didn't have a guy like Trump in there, trying to correct the cash out (OR better yet, credit from China and Japan), the US economy would most certainly go belly up dead. Nobody else had any solutions, especially the left which wants open boarders, free school, free health care, etc.

You guys should thank your lucky stars you have Trump! The only other option to Trump or bankruptcy is war! And I have a feeling millennials aren't up to any kind of fight without a safe space.

Mexico and Canada don't even have a dog in this fight! Nice try with this option piece!

-22 ( +2 / -24 )

Actually, the only reason Canada and Mexico are in this mess is because they have weak leaders. Canada's leader is a full on globalist and Mexico's leader is bought and pay for by drug cartels.

And these are the guys you root for over Trump!?!?!??! I'd hate to look at your monthly bank statements.

-20 ( +2 / -22 )

Mexico and Canada don't even have a dog in this fight! Nice try with this option piece!

China sure does. And their big dog is ZTE that helped make Trump China's little puppy.

wants open boarders

Reagan is the one who inked 3M greencard amnesty. And open borders? Trump broke his promise on the 2,000 mile x 50 ft wall. On top of that he's stiffing the American tax payer for the 100 plus billion it's going to cost to build it. Remember Trump's promise to make Mexico pay for that wall?

free health care

That is me because if I go back to the US and get injured there is no way I'm going to pay 50,000 dollars for one broken finger. I'm hoping on a plane and coming back to Japan where the medical billing system is not insane like America's. Good point!!

8 ( +10 / -2 )

@stock. Thank you, your views are so.interesting. didnt know people have such views...scary

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Trade wars will push up consume prices while trippling tax revenue.

"I love the smell of a pig truck in the morning."

"who runs barter town"

couldn't help myself.

Having lived in California, been to Tijuana and vacationed in Encinada, I feel for Mexico. They deserve a better government than what they currently have to live with.

Canada? What's their population? Around 37 million? Mexico 130 million. Mexico is putting up a good posture but no way they can win if they export 77% from the US.

No wonder Trump supporters think tariffs are good. International trade is not as simple minded as a Trump bumper sticker.

Why did China peg their currency to the U.S. dollar? They wanted to avoid the effect of trade deficits on exchange rates, which tend to equalize trade deficits. Of course, central banks also have a huge effect on exchange rates...., but in those cases, it is generally called currency manipulation (if not disguised as a need for a beneficial amount of inflation).

Countries getting hit with these tariffs will target Trump supporters with tariffs. China has already pointed in that direction. Looks like Mexico is hitting U.S. bourbon producers, which tend to be produced in rural areas, and pig farmers.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Mexico receives some $70-odd billion per year in remittances from it’s citizens living in America illegally. This amount surpasses the amount of money generated by Mexico’s oil industry. Trump could limit or prohibit personal remittances to overseas accounts, or require people who make international remittances prove their citizenship, or show a valid, government-issued ID card (like Japan has always done).

Mexico is not going to do well in a peeing contest with America, Mexico has far-and-away more to lose.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Mexico and Canada don't even have a dog in this fight! Nice try with this option piece! Canada imports more American goods than it exports to the US , well see how many of those red state jobs are left when the dust settles, and were not even talking about the EU or China retaliation yet, when / if that eventuates then believe me even AMerica will squeal like the pork they cant sell. Trump is a moron instead of rallying the world around the US against China hes done just the opposite. LOL

7 ( +7 / -0 )

There is no such thing as "free trade" - it is a lie designed to make the global elite richer, the rest poorer, and to destroy nation states so that we end up with a rootless, global consumer driven slave economy.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Real wealth is declining under Trump.

This is an absurd statement, about as bad as a looney right-winger saying Obama was a member of the Taliban.

Love him or hate him, real wealth is indeed increasing under Trump. The actual economic numbers mean little, because they can say anything anyone wants to them to say. What does mean a lot are the polling numbers leading up to the midterms in November. Not even the most liberal polls are hinting at a democrat sweep. An incumbent president typically loses 25 seats in his first midterms, if Trump loses less than 25 seats (which, barring disaster, seems to be the case), real wealth is not decreasing under Trump. In comparison, Obama lost 85 seats in his first midterms. If Trump maintains his majorities in November, real wealth will have proven to have increased under Trump.

The democrat party still has no real message or policy outside Trump hate. Elections are always about economics, and democrats have to show that they can make Americans better off than Trump has.

Tariffs are not the answer to America’s economic problems, and they are not meant to be. They are a threat. America’s market is the most open in the world. America has remarkably few tariffs, almost no import fees, and no VAT. As an exporter in Japan, America is my largest customer, with American sales equalling my sales to all other countries in the world combined. My sales to Europe are subject to tariffs and VAT, varying from 20% to 50% depending on the country. Sales to Latin America are taxed at 60% and higher. American customer don’t pay a penny in tariffs, fees, VAT, or even sales tax. Because this is so, America remains the world’s largest and most dynamic market. Retaliatory tariffs against American products are not a substantial threat, because America’s market is so much larger, and therefore retaliatory tariffs are likely to harm trading partners more than they harm America.

One thing about Trump, no matter what silly things he may say or do, he always gets his way. If that were not the case, Hillary would be president now.

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

it is a lie designed to make the global elite richer,

Very interesting? So one of those very elites, who spent a lifetime ripping off and defrauding, suddenly had a change of heart and is doing this to help out the little guy he once made a living screwing over? Very interesting.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Let's get.......ready for a trade warrrrrrr!!!!!!

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I am glad Mexico has made good on their threats. Canada’s is set to be imposed on July 1st, the nation’s birthday no less.

Let’s rock. I hope Mexico does it’s worst and then we’ll hit them harder.

There are plenty of other countries that will be happy to sell Mexico and Canada pork and other goods.

Good, but since we are the biggest buyer of their produce, good luck with that.

Foreign countries regard Trump as the president of the red states only.

Yeah, they can, but reality now and not the Unicornverse, he’s the President of the US.

Accordingly every tariff retaliation will be against red state products. Lets see what that will do to their exports- probably will end up with them becoming bigger "taker" states.

Let’s see, but I’m sure they’ll blink.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

President Trump, stay the course, these countries and others, have been ripping America off for many years with their unfair trade. Demand, one on one, bilateral trade agreements that are fair to all.

-16 ( +1 / -17 )

President Trump, stay the course, these countries and others, have been ripping America off for many years with their unfair trade. Demand, one on one, bilateral trade agreements that are fair to all.

I agree.

-11 ( +3 / -14 )

America actually would be better off if it annexed Canada and Mexico. Maybe those two countries could put it to a vote.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

these countries and others, have been ripping America off for many years with their unfair trade.

Care to elaborate on who the "others" are?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Ironically, this could be very good for Mexico. With a weak peso and tariffs on agricultural products, Mexico's agricultural sector will receive a huge boost. Oaxaca could be the new Iowa.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Mexico needs us more than we need them. Their second largest income source (begind illegal drugs) is money made here being sent to relatives back home. Watch for President Trump to slap a 50 percent tax on all currency via wire and bank transfers leaving our country to Mexico. Those foolish enough to try to smuggle large sums of cash across the border will have it all confiscated by the Border Patrol.

Mexico still thinks a toy poodle is at the end of the leash they are pulling when in fact it is a pit bull.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Yeah, they can, but reality now and not the Unicornverse, he’s the President of the US. but his constituents are the ones that'll suffer the most as the result of a trade war. Red state governors are already crying foul of Trumps policies, I wonder just how many of those Trump supporters will still support him when the dont have a business or a job. November is just around the corner. LOL

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Mexico needs us more than we need them. but its not just Mexico its also Canada and soon to be the EU and China, Well see if this Pittbull can hold on when the 4 Rottweilers are snapping at all four legs. LOL

5 ( +7 / -2 )

One thing about Trump, no matter what silly things he may say or do, he always gets his way.  5 bankruptcy , refused NFL team owner, rejected WTC building design, no wall, no Obamacare replacement. Trump hasnt got his way on many of the things he holds dear, but he has managed to screw enough smaller guys to cover the loses on "the things he couldnt get his way over"

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Let’s rock. I hope Mexico does it’s worst and then we’ll hit them harder. well then the US can fight the drug cartels by themselves, the drug epidemic in the US will dwarf any so called trade gains the US thinks itll gain.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Watch for President Trump to slap a 50 percent tax on all currency via wire and bank transfers leaving our country to Mexico

That's one of Trump's many lies. In fact he didn't even say that. But he will burn the American taxpayers 100 billion big ones for his 2,000 mile x 50 ft. wall. And the currency will be just rerouted and end up in Mexico tax free anyway.

President Trump, stay the course

Yes, Trump, stay the course like you have with ZTE since you said "too many jobs lost in China" Check he tweet. He really said that. Trump cares more about China jobs than America ones.

America actually would be better off if it annexed Canada and Mexico. Maybe those two countries could put it to a vote.

That means tax funded healthcare in the USA? OK.

Now I'm waiting for that confirmation about that 50% tax for wire transfers. What a laugh!!!

At what point do you we stop using the word "taxpayers", and start using the debt payers?

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

OK, you win the argument. Trump is burning the debt payers of the USA.

Too bad you don’t have the same bravado against Russia.

Too bad you don’t have the same bravado against Russia.

Republicans grab their ankles and say "please sir can I have some more" when it comes to Russia's meddling in American democracy. Reagan must be turning in his grave.

Not so with Trump's tariffs. Even the Insane Party are openly breaking ranks. Hell, even the vile Koch brothers are funding opposition.

The imposter in the Whitehouse will either have to back down or go full isolation on this issue he created for himself. Couple that with the Mueller investigation, the implosion is coming and it will be gargantuan.

Economically the US may never recover from Trump. Who'd have thunk a known trust-fund scammer with multiple and massive bankruptcies would make such a mess of the presidency? /s

Some of the others that have been ripping America of are, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and now China big time. Those that are in trade, know this well.

Republicans grab their ankles and say "please sir can I have some more" when it comes to Russia's meddling in American democracy. Reagan must be turning in his grave.

Wait! This coming from the Obama cheerleading squad that relished in a disastrous deal with Tehran? Seriously??? Wow!

Not so with Trump's tariffs. Even the Insane Party are openly breaking ranks. Hell, even the vile Koch brothers are funding opposition.

Some. But there are more Republicans that think.....why not try something different, at least he has the cahones to do something and at least try what his predecessors couldn’t and wouldn’t do.

The imposter in the Whitehouse will either have to back down or go full isolation on this issue he created for himself.

...or maybe they might blink, after all, we buy more from Mexico than any other country, not to mention their produce.

Couple that with the Mueller investigation, the implosion is coming and it will be gargantuan.

Yeah, right...uh-huh....lol!

Economically the US may never recover from Trump. Who'd have thunk a known trust-fund scammer with multiple and massive bankruptcies would make such a mess of the presidency? /s

Ahem....now I’m not a fan of the liberal bias NYT, but even THEY had to concede (probably pained them to death to do so) that Trump is on a roll with the economy. Second term on the way.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Ahem....now I’m not a fan of the liberal bias NYT, but even THEY had to concede (probably pained them to death to do so) that Trump is on a roll with the economy. Second term on the way.

Then why build the wall (and have the American tax payers pay for it). If there is no wall and the economy is going well then why build it in the first place?

in a disastrous deal with Tehran? Seriously??? Wow!

They are ramping up their enrichment now. What is Trump going to do about it?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

What is Trump going to do about it. He is going to out maneuver them.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

What is Trump going to do about it. He is going to out maneuver them.

Be more specific? How is he going to prevent Iran from enriching more uranium? Same promise as building the wall? Iran is already talking about increasing the enrichment. What is Trump going to do to stop it? Be specific. Iran is going to play Trump the way China did with the ZTE deal because Trump is worried about jobs being lost in China.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Has Trump actually successfully negotiated anything yet? His biggest wins are taxes and the economy. The GOP establishment got their tax cut through and the economy was in great shape when Trump took it over. You or I could have accomplished that.

But after tearing up quite a few agreements, has he replaced them with anything yet? Has he negotiated deals with Mexico and Canada re: NAFTA? How about those bilateral agreements he promised to replace the TPP? How's the renegotiation on the Iran agreement coming along?

Or should we wait for year 3 for those?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Trump is ready for, one on one, bilateral fair trade agreements at any time. Those with huge trade surpluses in their favor do not want such an agreement.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

"Mexico put tariffs on American products ranging from steel to pork and bourbon on Tuesday"

So, the evil Mexican government makes their poor citizens pay more for steel, food and booze! How awful!

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Trump is ready for, one on one, bilateral fair trade agreements at any time.

He is ready to lose like he lost with China (with a large trade surplus) already and how China played Trump into helping ZTE after ZTE violated international trade laws because Trump is worried about jobs in China (his quote). And what is he going to do when Iran starts ramping up their enrichment? This is all on Trump.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Has Trump actually successfully negotiated anything yet?

We wouldn’t know, the WH doesn’t give Minute to minute updates.

His biggest wins are taxes and the economy.

Bingo! And that means everything and as James Carville once famously said, “it’s the economy stupid.” And that’s all that matters.

The GOP establishment got their tax cut through and the economy was in great shape when Trump took it over.

If you think a GDP lowest labor participation for over 8 years a GDP under 3.0 high unemployment for Blacks, least amount of job growth in the private sector as being in great shape, then you are living in dream Freddy wouldn’t even enter.

You or I could have accomplished that.

How?

But after tearing up quite a few agreements, has he replaced them with anything yet?

No, he’s not going to do an Obama and on a visceral impulse make a deal.

Has he negotiated deals with Mexico and Canada re: NAFTA? How about those bilateral agreements he promised to replace the TPP? How's the renegotiation on the Iran agreement coming along?

This is exactly why Liberals and Dems get over their heads, they get too emotional, never think things through and fail to deal with reality.

Or should we wait for year 3 for those?

Whatever it takes to get the RIGHT deal? You in a hurry or something?

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

“it’s the economy stupid.” And that’s all that matters.

But the world is going to become more dangerous with Iran getting nuclear weapons since Trump tore up the agreement. Iran is already ramping up their enrichment. Also, Mexicans are still stealing American jobs because he failed to build his 100 billions dollar wall that American taxpayers are getting stiffed for. And if he is really good at trade deals then how do you explain the ZTE deal?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

So, the evil Mexican government makes their poor citizens pay more for steel, food and booze! How awful!

but they also dropped tariffs on similar food items from other countries, watch them line up to sell to Mexico at little to no tariffs, and its still 0 for Canada, America isnt the only exporter in the world. LOL

4 ( +4 / -0 )

How?

We could elect the manager of a local 7-11 as President and he could sign some papers to pull us out of something. But I wouldn't put a lot of stock in his ability to create a new agreement with 6 countries to replace it.

So I asked about what's he's accomplished to replace those things and even you don't have an answer and you love the guy. In your next post you won't have any answers.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

So I asked about what's he's accomplished to replace those things and even you don't have an answer and you love the guy. In your next post you won't have any answers.

It’s a stupid question. Of course it takes time to come up with various different ideas, b7t we are talking about Iran, they can wait, the Trump administration doesn’t need to hurry on this, so if they don’t have anything now, then Iran has to be patient. Very simple.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

we are talking about Iran

Yes, and becoming more dangerous because of Trump. What's the point of enjoying that great 401K when you are at 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit and dead from a nuclear bomb. It's all Trump's fault.

Of course it takes time to come up with various different ideas

Yes, and Trump came up with a great one by helping ZTE after they broke laws. Also, Trump's wall idea is not working out.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

but they also dropped tariffs on similar food items from other countries, watch them line up to sell to Mexico at little to no tariffs, and its still 0 for Canada, America isnt the only exporter in the world. LOL

How many people live in Canada again? ROFL

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

How many people live in Canada again? ROFL

How many people live in China? And look at China making Trump a little trade puppy with the ZTE deal. It shows Trump is weak with trade deals.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

How many people live in Canada again? ROFL about 37million, but dont let population fool you its how much farming land thats available, Canada has plenty. Look at Australia theyre only around 23million, but they are one of the largest beef, lamb and wheat exporters in the world, average crop farms in Australia are about 3000hectares \ 7400 acres, biggest cattle station in Australia 6million acres (thats about the size of the state of Vermont) with many holding over 50,000 head of cattle. so you see if Canada really wanted to become a large exporter of pork , beef , grains it certainly has plenty of land and people to do it. now American pork is 20% more expensive might be a great opportunity to do it. Mexico just may come to love that cheap Canada meat. LOL
